Some years I make resolutions, some I don't. I've thought of a few that I need to accomplish. The biggest? I need to work on my hand writing. Yep. It is the WORST. If you've ever ordered anything from me, I'll bet you can't read the note on the back of the business card, can you?
So, #1- Handwriting.
#2? Re-housebreaking. Ugh.
These were winter pups, and I let them use pee pads in the house too much because I was too cold to go out in the snow. They need to get out of that habit and it's said that there are no bad dogs, only bad owners- my bad, not theirs.
For a while in 2013, I kept them on leashes when they weren't in the pen with the dog door to the fenced yard. It was a hassle, but it worked. I need to make myself do that again. No pupeesh running loose in the house. I will take them out to pee and convince them that the pee pads are not the best way to go.
#3- I want to do more workshops at the studio. Not big ones, just a few seasonal things like the Valentine and Christmas parties I had here.
#4- I'd love to do a swap. In 2013, I didn't host one at all. This Fairy Book Swap from 2012 was such a delight for me, I really need to do another one.
Hmmmmm, now I need an equally fun theme……
#5- LIST THE CRAP I HAVE PILED UP TO SELL. Not the kid, the dress. I took a lot of photos of her in old dresses and never listed them. Those dresses and a couple of tubs of things that need to be photographed and sold got stacked away and forgotten.
(Shoulda put that one first, really, but was reminded by #4 that I have a stack of fairy book kits left over that I have never added to my shop. And those are from 2012, that is lazy!)
Please wish me luck. I'm pretty good about resolutions, but I've never tried 5 at once.
I hope it works for you, I gave up trying but wonder how anyone who can draw and paint so beautifully, can’t write the same? I gave up on resolutions and my hand writing a long time ago—that freedom comes with age.
All fine resolutions. Or goals, if you prefer! I can’t wait for the swap! My “Word of the Year” is ‘now’ — meaning actually get something done for a change. I’m not doing great. But I’m working on it!
I feel your pain! I have lots of crap that needs to be painted and put in my booth. A whole living room full! So many Christmas items that should have gone in at the beginning of December and now I won’t be able to sell for another year!
I don’t think you are lazy, you have just been distracted by other things that are more pressing and have needed your attention. New Year, new goals. Hope you manage to see at least some of your goals achieved! Blessings!
Yorkies are notoriously hard to housebreak. I have yet to meet anyone who has successfully done it!
Your handwriting isn’t that bad. I, too, have the same problem as you when it comes loading stuff into my shop. I think because it’s a laborious, technical process.
My resolution this year is to be more regimented so days don’t disappear without accomplishing anything.
I love the idea of a swap (I’ll save my pennies) and I’m sure you’ll get plenty of takers for more studio days with you.
Btw – happy new year ♡
I’m not one for resolutions, but I recently read about the idea of setting goals for the year — or even one a month. I’m thinking I might be able to keep a goal a month!
Can’t wait to see what kind of swap you have. They are always wonderful! the little girl at the top of this post is absolutely adorable!
Happy New Year,
~Marilee
:~~:LUCK!:~: 🙂
Oh my gosh, I know what you mean! I ran across some letters I wrote as a teenager and I was surprised at how beautiful my handwriting was….apparently as I got older I started scribbling more lol! I was shocked to see how my handwriting has changed into chicken scratch over the years! I look forward to a swap! I missed out on the last one and was so sad, I hope you are able to do another, I would love to be able to participate this time!
I will brainstorm about a swap. Hope to see you in it, Leslie!
Thanks, Karla. I look forward to it too!
Its been a hectic year for sure, but some of that stuff Ive complied is over two years old! Why is it so much easier to accumulate than to disperse? Good luck with your stacks, Lucy.
Very true, Yorkies have a mind of their own about the whole idea of where they should
