This year, I really, really, really wanted a big white tree. But I didn't plan in advance at all. The day I decided to decorate my tree, I looked around town for a white one. I decided that I'd sold enough dyed bottle brush trees to treat myself to a beautiful, big tree! It seemed fitting that all the Pay Pal money that came from tiny trees should go to a big tree.
Can you tell that this tree isn't so big? And not so white. Its silver, and I've been using it for years. There were NO white trees to be found in the whole city of Lawrence. After going to 4 stores, I got smart and used my magic phone to access the internet (I still can't get used to having that kind of power, it does feel like magic to own an Iphone!). I looked up phone numbers from my car and called around instead of driving to each store.
I even called stores in Topeka (25 minutes away), no luck there either. I was too lazy to drive the 45 minutes to Kansas City, so went home and pulled out my silver tinsel table top tree instead.
(these photos were taken in the dark, so might not be as sharp, I was trying to catch that special Christmas tree glow)
And I am glad it worked out that way after all. I love the added sparkle of the silver.
And I love the jammed pack, lush look of having lots of ornaments on the branches.
This tree is filled up, top to bottom, and around the back too!
Its also layered, with large, clear balls deep inside the tree and the other ornaments toward the outside of the branches.
If I'd gotton a larger tree, I couldn't have filled it in quite this full.
Isn't it a wonderful feeling when something you didn't really want becomes something you really LOVE?
Lately, Sugarwings has had a case of the "I Wants", so we have been serenading her with the Rolling Stones' "Can't always get what you want". And I think this tree is a good example of what I needed, even if I didn't think I wanted it.
Plus, my Pay Pal account is still full of tree money! That's not bad either. Maybe I'll see what someone else in the family really does need and use the tree money for that instead. It is Christmastime, after all!
I'll leave you with a few more pictures. And wishes for a sparkling holiday season at your home too.
I don’t know if I’ve ever told you how much I adore your Christmas style. I know we don’t always agree on colors but the way you always bathe your home in the warm light of the winter holidays has made me feel like a kid again and again. I have so many beautiful memories sharing holidays in your spaced and I feel so blessed for that. You truly are the best Grammie this Hippy Chick could ask for 🙂
Peace Love and Caitlin Joy

Just magical! Warm Blessings!~Amy
This is absolutely Ehchanting, WOW ….I would pay to view your home this time of year….Just think of the size of tree you could afford then?, I know Many others would too LOL
I think your little white tree is gorgeous! I just got a new iphone too and I think it truly is majic!! Every day I find a new great thing on it—–LOVE the gps!
I LOVE a lot of ornaments too, I really pack them in on my tree also. Really beautiful! I bought a big white tree several years ago at K-Mart, it was a Martha Stewart tree. But I don’t think she is with K-Mart anymore. It looked pretty for a few years but then it started to yellow from being in the hot attic in the summer. So maybe it is for the best that you couldn’t find one!
My philosophy on decorating a tree is similar to dressing myself. If I can still see the branches…it ain’t enough!
Debbie
Stunning…
Wow! It looks amazing…a magical, enchanted fairyland!
OH Karla this so said Christmas while sipping my morning coffee.
Funny, you wanted a BIG white tree and I’ve been wanting a SMALL white tree, but we both ended up with perfectly perfect silver trees that we already owned. Thank you for reminding me that I really don’t NEED another tree! I really need a smack upside my head sometimes! 🙂
Oh, Karla, your petite silver tree is truly one of the most magical and exquisite trees I have ever seen. ^.^ It glistens with enchantment! I adore seeing your Christmas Magic!
This is one of the most beautiful trees I have ever seen!

This tree is beautiful! I have a vintage tinsel tree too and didn’t know that I could put christmas tree lights on it. Is it safe??

Take care.

Karla, I have no Idea of the quality or price, but driving down sixth street last night In Lawrence, in the door of the doller tree / family doller store ( not sure of the name..)I saw they had a white tree setting just inside the door set up. Not ultra large, but not a small one either. Just thought of that when I ready your post.
ps I have the fairie picture all matted and framed ready to gift my daughter-in-law for Christmas. I decided to keep a copy, and give her the original. I’m so anxious for her reaction!! Janice Watts
Your tree is gorgeous and is jam-packed with yumminess!
BTW, I’ll be singing that song for the rest of the day now!

This tree isnt vintage its from hobby lobby. I dont think you can add lights to the old ones. Remember how they had the colored spotlights?

Beuatiful tree! love the sweet ornaments!
Just stunning. I want to curl up in your chair with some super sweet cocoa.
Your tree is outstanding! I wish I had taken my grandma’s silver tree when it was offered years ago! I love the sparkle and pale tones. I really want to just sit in a comfy chair and stare and stare at all that yummyness.

I hear you! Wanted to get a new tree this year to treat our home too, but apparently the first week of December is not the time to be hunting for non-traditional trees. Ah, well. Now I know to shop for one next Halloween instead. Hmmm, maybe I’ll get myself a Christmas tree costume for that holiday, too, what do you think?
Still, glad that you have the lovely silver tree you love to enjoy this year. My favorite part was seeing you in the reflection of the ornament. ;->
Your tree is beautiful. I can’t beleive a white tree would have been any nicer. You just have a way with decorating, whether its a tree or your home. Have a wonderful trip. Jean in virginia
So beautiful!!! It’s much like I’m working on for my tree.
Hi Karla,
Such a lovely tree and beautiful ornaments! I really
like the silver……it’s magical!!
Hugs,
Janis
Wow! I think I prefer silver, too — but honestly, if I had a tree like that to look at I’d never get anything done. I’d just sit and gaze at it all day! Very. Beautiful.
