Bringing a Taste of Autumn to the Cottage

Well, the furnace was blasting and I was wearing Ugg slippers yesterday. Then today, all of the windows are open for a breeze and we are packing to spend the afternoon on the lake.

So yes, it must be Fall in Kansas!

Typical autumn colors aren’t my fave, although I do enjoy the warmer tones, so I went with those. I started by switching out the turquoise eggs
in the nest for a muddy, speckled green instead.

Then added a mix of white pumpkins and dried hydrangeas.

This is a favorite photo of Ryan, he and I loved our time together walking dogs.  I feel so blessed to have snapped pics of him with Sugar with the pretty fall leaves, I rarely had a camera with me on walks.  I can think of just a handful of times, on those hundreds of walks, where I took any photos.

This picture and one of him with Dorothy in the spring flowers are treasures now, and I will always have one out on display.

The only purchase I made for the seasonal display was this light up, glass punkin from Homegoods.

With the light off, it is an iridescent aqua.

Those batteries in the pumpkin won’t last long, I am enjoying the glow and have it turned on a lot.

Speaking of pumpkins, the vines I planted have only produced two.  One is at the top of a tree and the other is hanging on a fence.

???

Silly pumpkins.

My fall decor is pretty low key, but the simple act of shifting things around and freshening up is a cheering thing to do.
I think I like it.

  1. Love your fall decorations. The pumpkin is the coolest one I have ever seen. I can’t wait to have the time to re decorate at our house!

  2. Looking great! I’m packing for an eventual move, so, unless I buy new (which then I’d have to pack), things here will be whatever I can find outside. Lots of acorns!
