Still no ability to upload photos

Weblogs

The blog hosting site is still having problems.   I haven’t been able to write a new post in weeks, and now that it is sorta posting, it won’t let me upload photos.  I did have some pre-posted stories in line ready to pop up, so there were a few new ones available during this time.

I appreciate you for coming by to check in and apologize for not having any new content for you.

Hopefully I’ll have some pics soon.  I visited a new friend who has amazing collections. Sugarwings dressed up as some sort of Power Puff Girl for Halloween and looked like a grown up space alien.  I hand dyed a forest of bottle brush trees.  And redid my booth for Good Juju.

See?! Very important stuff that I have missed writing about!! Haha.  I do miss my blog, it has been a big part of my life for 16 years.

Blog posting dilemmas

Web/Tech

Well, Typepad, my blog hosting site is having major issues.   Thank you for your patience and for checking back.  It has been slow or impossible to open for readers, and I can just now get into it from the publishing side.  Although I still cannot uplold photos.

Hopefully, we will be up and running again soon.

Daniel Island explorations during Jenn Hayslip’s Bridgerton Event

While in SC at Daniel Island, my pal, Lori, and I got away for a little walk around the neighborhood.

The streets around Jenn’s home were charming while still being upscale and exclusive.

Everything was beautiful, yet felt like homes you could raise a family in.

B6CB28B6-415B-4122-AE86-C6D6639E85B8The whimsical fall decor caught me eye.

I am sure that any time of year is a great time to stroll around the island.

My time in Siesta Key was way too short.  It always is.  But it seemed even more so since I had four days while my sissies stayed on for a full two weeks!  After I got home, I could see all of their fun without me  in photos on FB.

E8B96E80-6338-41DE-85D8-97D18F23DCAD

I could’ve used a couple more days there. Between arriving in the afternoon, getting food and supplies, then settling in, and then needing more supplies that we missed the next day, first days are typically hectic when staying at a condo.

42F12608-A950-4068-AC43-1401548D4562Plus, with being gone ten days I was feeling the pressure of not getting any work done, so I brought supplies.  In the first few days, I made four dozen Sugarplum Fairies.

I was a bit resentful that I had to work so hard on vacation, but I reminded myself that creating at a table over looking the Gulf, and taking breaks to go on the beach, while talking to my sissies as I worked did not suck.

6C1B3C29-91B7-4BAE-9820-F5F053505459

Overall, I am blessed that my job consists of making pretty things.  And making pretty things while at the beach makes me feel even more blessed.

14DA6BF1-03AD-4B98-81BD-4B00A5BC2E0D

Adding a sunset over the water to my day?  It is hard to count that many blessings.  They just keep racking up.

E7EBEDD0-2A60-4C43-9D76-78BB7B63044F

For a moment, I complained that I finished my work just in time to go home.  Then I reminded myself that as a slightly, over reaching, workaholic, I probably would’ve just started another project.

I mean, hey, I still had supplies with me, didn’t I?

Enjoying the present while dreaming of what’s next

Food and Drink, holiday decor

While I am enjoying my Halloween/fall decorations, I am writhing with impatience for getting out the Christmas ones.

1FA88974-CDEF-4843-A5EF-654CAA3EC062

I love Christmas and all of the twinkling lights, gingerbread houses, pretty ornaments, big trees, little tress, tiny trees, candy, baking, cookies, presents, oops, I got carried away, didn’t I?

I do love it all.

Still, my outlook on life is not to wish away time I have right now by looking too far ahead.  I try to enjoy what is in front of me, and not let anticipation for what’s next stop me from being present.

C43C9253-463A-43AD-A8FC-6DB377C2EDFA

I tell myself that it is okay to be excited about an upcoming trip, holiday, party, or even tv series.  But NOT okay to ignore what is happening right now.  Which can be hard to do.

F4A95075-024D-4DF4-88DA-9DA6FB45CE4BThis fall, I sat out a few things, but mostly let Sugarwings go at it.  They got out the bucket of decorations and did whatever they wanted with them, starting up in my husband’s office where our big tv is.  We were gathering there to watch Hocus Pocus 2, and made up special party trays for it.

B450B6DB-D878-4D9A-B5FE-2716F83311B5

The food was yummy and the kiddo’s decor was fun.  We also thought the movie was pretty dang cute.  It was even better with pumpkin colored lights and plastic spiders in a darkened room.

BA94AF6B-4E0C-440F-84B1-3E4DE91F5CB4Right now we have a dining table filled with pumpkins, real and lit up.  And I am enjoying Sugarwings’ exuberant design skills.

And I am doing my best not to long for the twinkly lights of the Xmas tree.

Luckily, I get an early fix!  Good Juju is coming up on the first Friday of November.  I am going to be going all out on my holiday decor there.  That will hold me over til after Halloween so I can keep my promise to myself of not wishing away the present with dreams of the future.
Which is tough because those lights sure beckon to me.

Some Precious North Carolina Time

My recent trip was a buffet of travel.  Visiting family in Charlotte/Asheville mountains/ scenic downtown Charleston and a dress up art event in Jenn’s spectacular home/ then sister beach time in Florida.

All I was missing was some snowy venues or desert time.

5F7D6563-3285-4196-8E12-D9E6D8FE8588

My boy treated me to breakfast at his favorite spot in Asheville to start off our visit and after dripping sweet potato gravy down my shirt, we had a full day of exploring thrift shops, riverbanks, and downtown.

He and I can both spend hours just looking at rocks by the water and that is just what we did.

I had hoped to visit one of the construction sites where he has been creatively doing his woodwork art installations, but time was short.

But then, any time I get one on one with my son is too short.  It has possibly been years since we have had this kind of time together.

While in NC, I got to visit the latest family members to become Ashevillians.  Our oldest grandfairy and her mama now live in the area.  And I was there for Dewdrop’s first day at a new school after she and her mom moved across town.

She already met a new friend on the bus.  That kid is such a social butterfly, I fully expected as much.  But was still relieved to hear it.

EBE02E33-62A4-410C-82AF-D4D6E41A59FC
While there, I decided that I definitely need more time in NC.  Not only is the sand full of semi precious stones like garnets, mica, and quartz- the state is full of very precious family members.

Etsy Goodies, the Boutique at Karla's Cottage

This week, I am in the process of reopening my Etsy shop and Boutique.

EB6A6579-2FF1-4146-A477-37AE5ED4F2DB

It never officially closed.  But in 2019, I was busy with my art event and lots of travel.  In March of 2020 I had surgery and then Covid hit.  Everyone else with online shops sold tons of stuff, but between surgery recovery, home schooling, and just keeping our family together (plus horror stories about the PO), I didn’t even try to stock up.

B766ED64-F5F1-4D99-B560-715B9440B74E

Just as things were improving, we lost Ryan.  I did not care about anything after that.

67CB81FE-2FF4-4D89-BE0A-5DCDF43A805A

It has been a couple of years now, and getting the booth at Good Juju has been helpful for my creativity.
AE3F4425-BC83-4CB8-A7EC-D7EFA882A038
So much so, that I over produced.  As I tend to do anyway.  When I saw that there were unsold items after the two day sale, I realized I’d made enough to stock a booth for a month, not two days.

I also realized that I missed my online stores.  I cannot say that the tedious parts are enjoyable, the hours of computer time that it takes to fill the pages.  But I do love the packaging and wrapping of the items and sending them out to their new homes across the country.
B1FA87E9-261B-461C-BAD2-49ED9FB15EEF

In my time away, technology left me behind.  There were some re-learning curves and some changes. That took me a bit of figuring out, but once I got into the groove, I started listing items like I hadn’t even had a break from doing it.

This old dog learned new tricks!

9976BC39-2FBD-4DA4-9E84-DC5530E2C4C3

Basically, it was the same thing, there were just some improvements here and there, some buttons were in a different place, or had been replaced by newer processes.  But I have it down now and hope to keep both spaces up to date with new inventory.
I have already had the pleasure of wrapping up pretties to send out! Thank you to my shoppers.

My trip to Florida was short but so,so, very nice.  We were in Siesta Key, our favorite city and were relieved to see so little sign of damage from the storm.

Many places weren’t so lucky.  To help out, (in a small way, but every bit helps, right?) I decided to craft one of my sea shell fairies into this spectacular shell that I bought.  Oh my, it’s so pretty!  I had thought about using a shadow box, but when I saw this, I knew it would be the ideal home for my little Blessings Angel.

6D513334-B685-48B2-A1DE-61ACF3A77F43Here she is in her iridescent shell at the beach.

While still in Florida, I posted about her on FB.  I am asking for bids to raise money for the official disaster relief fund set up by the state.

The Beauty at Bridgerton

I am home from a varied and jam packed full of fun trip.

AE3D8329-EAF3-4DC5-89E9-B05D4C7EDE63

And speaking of jam packed- you should have seen my luggage!

51920C74-B330-44DF-9EEF-C41641F7210D

I started my journey flying to Asheville, then hiking with my baby boy, then off to Charleston in a rental car  for Jenn Hayslip’s Bridgerton event.  I had one bag filled with kits to teach a class.

E2A707B9-8C80-4704-A5E8-692501AF9978

Plus my normal supplies to take my pal, Lori Oles’ class, as well as a selection of items to sell, and even more supplies for projects to work on at the beach.

Siesta Key was the final flight of my trip, off to see my sissies.
99B1C403-46A9-4802-AA6A-ACCEBCE127E9
My two, overly stuffed, giant pieces of luggage and equally bulging carryon had to include warm clothes for the mountains, dress up things for the art event, and beachy outfits. Along with kits, supplies, wares for the market, and little gifties.

D89AAEDA-46AC-43AD-8AE0-EDF6BEC278B3
All I can say is thank goodness that suitcases have wheels.  Even if they don’t like thresholds and rolling onto elevators , those wheels made the juggling of all those bags possible.
75A62BAA-C594-4BCB-A9CA-F2C5BB9EB40D

Still, even with all that packing, I screwed up.  I didn’t pack proper attire for the big party.  I brought a dress, but it wasn’t fancy enough.  So, the kind hostess, who also has multiple, amazing, to die for closets full of gorgeousness, had me try on her clothing until we found something that could work on a grandma attending a ball.

63F0001E-4389-4F05-8BB4-B7952517024D

Jenn’s wardrobe is suitable for being the bell of the ball every day of her life and it was a joy to be invited to play in those closets!  Here is what she wore.  And the dress she loaned to Lori.  Neither one of us packed right.

9EEBE8B5-832F-4A3F-BA1F-F34DF8B51F98

Everyone else brought their finest gowns!  Oh my, the dresses were lovely.

Looked at this beauty! Wow!

Jenn’s adorable husband got it right and was a great sport while looking cute as can be.

Jennifer does not miss one detail when it comes to making every aspect of her events perfect.

So I felt bad about letting her down with my lack of fabulousness.

6709C2FB-70B3-4F15-B04D-68559425CE9B

But that kind hearted lady was gracious and generous about finding a fix for my attire.

I felt very pampered instead of embarrassed by the way she handled my faux pas.

Simply, delightfully, beautiful.

I could’ve just wandered around and gawked all day, the home was that pretty.  Lori and I wanted to play a drinking game, where every time we heard someone say the word PRETTY, we would take a shot.  But, since I am a very bad drinker and have never done a shot in my life, I’d have lost quickly.  I’m more of a wine sipper.

F1F6342F-2973-402A-B9D4-933CDFBE5A50
Every city that I visited and all the people I saw, made for such a lovely adventure.  I’ll leave you more pictures of Jenn’s perfectly detailed and pretty, pretty, pretty party for now, and will have more about the rest of my travels later.
