The right way to get the day you really want!

Birthday 09 009

Thanks for all your happy birthday wishes! It was a fun day, I invited some pals over for a tee shirt embellishment day and for birthday cake.  There were some issues with the transfer paper, we never did figure it out. But I had bought a bunch of different types of printable fabrics to try too, and those worked out well.  For this brown tee, I added a copy of one of my favorite vintage paintings, then some velvet and lace trim under it.  To finish off, it got old seam binding around the neck. The shirt is Lycra, so I stretched it as far as I could and straight stitched the ribbon to the neckline. When I let go of the pulled fabric, the ribbon ruffled just like I hoped that it would!

Birthday 09 027

Everyone brought their own shirts or bags to work on, and then I had an assortment of goodies for them to go through and add to them, as well as a bunch of pictures I had downloaded and printed onto fabric.  Of course, nothing was exactly right for what they needed, and we spent most of the day going through my supplies and my folders of images to see what they wanted to use for their pieces.  Isn't that how it always goes? The stuff set aside for a project is never quite what you want, something buried or squirreled away is much more intriguing.

Birthday 09 036

The crystals and glitter pens were popular though. Well, dur! Of course crystals are great to use!!

After the group left for the day, I sat down and worked on a couple shirts for myself, it had been hectic earlier with so much going on and I wanted to wear a new shirt when my boys and I went out for dinner.  Ryan and Sugarwing's Daddy took me to my favorite Italian place, then we went to see Wolverine.   Hugh was my favorite Xman before, but after this movie, I love him even more!  And Ryan Reynolds is a fave of mine too, so it was fun to see Van Helsing take on Van Wilder.

 Birthday 09 030

Thanks also for your get well wishes for poor little Twinkle's toes.  She is no longer whining and whimpering, and is back to running around, so I'd say she is feeling better.

Birthday 09 053

Especially after a visit from one of her puppies, Bella.

Birthday 09 068

Sugarwings (who by the way, is an excellent helper when it is time to blow out birthday candles) was glad to see Bella too.

Are you noticing anything different about my blog today?

Guess what came as my birthday gift! The CANNON REBEL!!!!!!!!!  yep, that one. The one I've whined about and wished for.  And you know who gave it to me?  I did.

The best way to have a wonderful birthday is to throw it for yourself.  I bought a cake, invited friends over for a craft day, supplied the crafts, picked out the restaurant and movie to to take my sons to, and bought the gift I wanted for the last year.  The perfect birthday, perfectly orchestrated by me.   Everyone was happy to have the burden of what to do for mom lifted from them and I had exactly what I wanted. Now, why did it take me 51 birthdays to figure that out?  I guess wisdom comes with age.

Birthday 09 069

Good camera, huh? What a nice gift!!!

Sparks 09 062

I realized that I never showed you the goods that I bought last week at the flea mkt, so I'll leave you with a few photos from my OLD camera of my finds.

Sparks 09 060

Can you see the difference?

Sparks 09 064

Now, that wasn't a horrid camera, and I will still be using it quite a bit. It fits so nicely into my jeans pocket.  But I love my new Rebel XSi!!!

Sparks 09 063

Well, that photo sure isn't very good. I wonder what makes me show them any way, when I know they are bad?

Sparks 09 076

Last week's shopping trip was a day for figurines and babies, as well as millinery and jewels.  Lots of small things, I liked not having much to carry in at the end of the day.

Sparks 09 066

Before I go, I need to announce the hand painted Birthday Cupcake Charm-

Claudia

And to say thanks again for helping make my day special with all of your kind comments!

April Showers and a May Flower Giveaway

antiques/junking, flowers, give away

Ironed paper 019

Yesterday, Beth and I headed to Sparks and White Cloud to the flea market we never miss twice a year.  There have been times when it has been chilly, other times when we feel like we have heat stroke.  We've gone when it was drizzling a bit too.

But yesterday, when we left, the forecast was for a 60% possibility of thunderstorms all day and it was raining so hard I could barely see the road.

And I kept driving anyway.  And I decided I will never again tease my husband when he gets all bundled up to go to an outdoor sporting event in blizzardy weather. I had always thought he was crazy.  But now, I get it.  The pluses out weigh the minuses, and it was worth it to me to brave the weather, just in case there was a break in it and we could do some fun shopping.

Ironed paper 020

Luckily, the weather cleared! We had some minor drizzle here and there, and our shoes were muddy from walking in the fields, but the day was GREAT.  We always have a blast there, and say that it isn't just shopping, it is an event. So we figured it  was worth the risk of getting a little wet.

Ironed paper 022

And if the only thing I bought all day was these posies, it would have been worth getting really muddy.  (but of course I bought more. Much more.)

These were marked $4 each.  I asked (very nicely) how much it would be if I bought all of them, and was thrilled to hear that they could go for 50 cents each if I bought the bowlful. I always say, it never hurts to ask.

Copy of ironed paper 001 Copy of ironed paper 009

Since, I was at Sparks all day yesterday, I wasn't able to list more wallpaper yet. I did add a few packs to my Boutique the night before and many have already sold out.   Today, I had Sugarwings to keep me busy, and tomorrow I am helping at a fund raising garage sale for some friends.  I hope to add more packs and will let you know when I do.

Ironed paper 017

Isn't this vintage greeting card beautiful?  It is actually on a flocked paper background! I had 3 of them, one I kept for myself and two I made up wallpaper packs to coordinate with.

Ironed paper 011

Well, that garage sale is going to come pretty early tomorrow, I'd better get to bed, now that I finally have Sugarwings tucked in. She is at a stage when she thinks she'd rather stay up and play, not go to bed, and sees no reason why she shouldn't just do what ever she wants.  So, tucking in has become a marathon event around here.

Before I go, I want to announce the April Giveaway winner:

Marilyn

And don't forget that I have a gift for you for my birthday, May the 5th. Any comment between May 1st and 5th  is entered.

Finally photos of the April Giveaway, before May comes!

Storage room and leftovers to sell 059

Finally, I have a photo of the April Giveaway. And how far am I into April by now? Just about May?

Storage room and leftovers to sell 060

If you have left a comment, you entered the drawing for this two sided charm. One side says "Inspire" the other is a rose that I painted.  I used metallic paints, so it is kind of a unique effect.  You can add it to a charm bracelet, use it as a pendant, or tie it onto a craft project.  Like an altered bottle or tag.

Storage room and leftovers to sell 061

While I am at it, I'll show you a teeny tiny cupcake charm too.  These are less than an inch long and are painted onto paper added to an existing charm, then coated with Paper Glaze for a durable finish.

The cupcake will be part of a giveaway for my 51st birthday on May 5th.  51 doesn't seem as fun and exciting as 50 did, so I'm going to have to create some fun for myself. And you know I enjoy wrapping and sending gifts!

All comments between May 1st and May 5th will go into a drawing for the cupcake. The rose is open to all comments the entire month of April.

And why was I too busy to take a simple photo of a gift all month? Well, Miss Frenchie's was sure taking up some time. And after that I decided to treat myself to a new cabinet for the studio with some of the loot I made at the sale.  This great storage piece is over 8 feet tall and has sooooo much space in it!

Of course, it inspired a full studio redo. I'm still in the middle of that, but did take some time today to get photos of things I'll be listing soon, as well as getting purchases packed and shipped. Usually I am more on the ball than that, and get them out faster. But this week, I've mostly been on a cleaning binge. First, the house, then a bit of the yard, and now the studio.

Storage room and leftovers to sell 001

Uhm, it might have needed a bit of cleaning….

Storage room and leftovers to sell 004

This is the after for the sink area in my storage corner of the studio. I am taking all those half cans of paint to the Habitat for Humanity store for reuse and I rearranged the rest so I could get to the sink without scaling a junk pile.

Storage room and leftovers to sell 002

The other end of the room was just as bad.

Storage room and leftovers to sell 057

But is so much better now! Not exactly gorgeous, but hey, it is storage. The best I can go for is functional.  I'd let it really get away with me, and hadn't taken the time to put anything back in its place.

Storage room and leftovers to sell 067

One cute thing that I have in my closet (which really isn't a closet, it is just a corner of the room, that I blocked off with doors and furniture) is this old postal cart.  I store my shipping supplies in it, seems fitting for that purpose.

Storage room and leftovers to sell 065

The studio is coming along. I really didn't think I'd spend so much time on it, but you move one thing, that starts an avalanche of other things that need moved too.  So, day three of the big clean up and I am close to done, but not quite.

Of course, I've had this little person helping off and on. Right now, she is sound asleep, napping on the floor of the studio, but I hear her stirring. I'd better run, its probably just about time for a play dough break.

That Sewing Blog

give away, how to's, jewelry, Sugarwings, the Boutique at Karla's Cottage

Dorothy skirt 012

Yep, I sewed some more.  Hmm. Something weird is going on here.

While going through my stash of old aprons for a swap I joined (details later, I only have a short time before the baby gets up and we start our day) I came across this gingham check one.  Sugarwings is Dorothy's biggest fan, sings all the songs from the Wizard of Oz, and sleeps with a Dorothy doll.  So, when she saw this, she wanted to wear it and "be Dorothy".

Dorothy skirt 014

Whats a Grammy to do? I had no choice, it was sewing time again!  That apron was way too big for her as is.  So, I cut off the waist band and tie first, with pinking shears Beth left over here. I need a pair of those, they really are wonderful to work with.

But no, I don't!!! What am I saying??? NO MORE SEWING, I do not need more sewing supplies.  What does it man when I start wanting my very own pair of pinking shears???

Dorothy skirt 015

After cutting off the waist band, I cut the skirt part almost in half and sewed the waist band and tie back on. Then cut around the pocket, and used that square as the bib of the pinafore, sewed to the top of the replaced waist band. To that, I sewed scraps that I had cut into straps to go around her neck.  That was the most simple way to do it, to attach straps that just tied behind her neck like a halter.

Dorothy skirt 026

Sugarwings was pretty happy with the outcome.  Of course, she isn't a big critic, anything she sees that is gingham sparks her imagination and transforms her into Dorothy. The other day she found a pair of pink gingham shorts that were about 5 sizes too large for her (in the hand-me-down box of things she will grow into someday) and was wearing them on her head, dancing around and singing Over the Rainbow.  Apparently any scrap of gingham will do to "be Dorothy" as she calls it.

Dorothy skirt 028

The short cut pinafore didn't take long to make, and I spent the rest of the day piddling around getting a few (not many) things listed in the Boutique.

Dorothy skirt 030

Here is something you might like.  As I work on a collage project, I can't bear to toss the scraps of vintage papers. I keep a box near my desk, trim the bits up and save them.  Its handy to flip through the box for small projects, so I don't have to cut into a large sheet of old wallpaper if I am making something like a tag or greeting card.

I thought some of you might like having a scrap back of ephemera too, so wrapped up a couple of mixed bags with bits from what I made my journals from last week.  They are $6 each, and I have two listed.

Copy of dorothy skirt 005  Copy of dorothy skirt 001

There are also some wallpaper journal kits, and folders listed.  The journals will be in the next Somerset Life and the folders were in an issue last year.

Brunch 045

Thanks for all of your kind comments about the necklace that I have offered as the March Giveaway prize. Its one that I made. This week, I have made a ton of jewelry and will show some photos later. I also came up with the PERFECT display idea for selling the jewels and was cackling out loud with glee last night after the fairy grand baby went to sleep and I was able to tag all the earrings that I made.

But for now, I have to run, I hear some one stirring over the baby monitor.

Gifts of Affection and the March Giveaway

Brunch 029

Now, Beth might have just happened to include this sentimental bit of ephemera in with the gift pack she brought me, but in my mind, she added it with true affection!  I know I just love her to pieces.

Brunch 044

With affectionate thougths of my own, I'm offering this necklace as my prize for the March Giveaway.

Brunch 047

This is the one I chose, because it is filled with rosebud and posy charms and seems to be just right for welcoming Springtime!

All you need to do is leave a comment to enter.  As always, all comments, all month count.

Brunch 026

Beth came over yesterday to finish up our sewing projects started last week, and as much as we both dislike sewing, sometimes you just gotta do it.  Unless you have unlimited funds and can have hire a seamstress, of course. Which we don't.

Brunch 033

And she showed up with gifts!! Well, she always does. Beth is a hunter/gatherer and is always on the prowl for goods for resale. While she is out, she picks up tid bits she knows I'd like too and since she knows me so well, they are always perfect!

Brunch 030

Great stuff, huh?

Brunch 071

But we didn't spend the whole day opening gifts and eating scones, we got some work accomplished too. The tablecloths are  DONE. whew. And for some silly reason, who knows why (since neither of us enjoy sewing), we both started making bags from some vintage scrappy stuff we had around.  Hers is from a quilt and mine is old curtains and doilies.

The bag I made is far from perfect, but looks OK as long as you don't examine any stitches or look too closely. I made up the pattern as I went along, to fit the doily I wanted to use.  I think the bag would be better with a bit more embellishing, but I quit. While Beth was here, it was going OK, because we were at that slap happy stage, the one where no matter what you say or do, it makes you have a giggle fit.  None of it would be in the least bit funny if I tried to tell you today what we were saying, but in the moment, we were hilarious to each other.

Brunch 041

The tablecloth I'm using on my studio table now is a gift from Beth too. She brought it to cut up and I said, NO WAY, its too nice.  So she gave it to me! Apart from it being really pretty, I love it because my great grandma made one very similar that I don't like to use, because my family is a bunch of pigs I don't want to ruin it.  I call this one my "stunt double" table cloth, I can use it and be reminded of the one I have from my great grandma.

Brunch 038

Some of you were asking about this bench I have made new pillow shams for.  It was a Victorian heard board that I got at a garage sale, in bad shape. Sugarwing's Daddy is an accomplished carpenter and he made the headboard into a bench, and I painted the flowers on it.

Copy of brunch 064  Copy of brunch 067

Today, while avoiding putting away all the sewing paraphernalia, I cleaned up my Boutique a bit and deleted some SOLD items, added a few new ones.

Copy of brunch 050

As tempting as it is to hang out at the computer and list more things, I need to get back to work. That sewing machine and all the mess that accompanies it needs to be stashed away, hopefully I won't be getting it out again for a long, long time!

Hip Hip Hooray!

celebrations, Dorkies (Yorkshire Terrriers), give away, holiday decor, Miss Frenchie's

Copy of 500 003

"I did it, I did it!! Yippee, Hip- Hip- Hooray!"

I am quoting Sugarwings there, that is what she says when she is proud of something she did. I was telling Beth today while we were working, that its too bad we don't cheer ourselves on more as adults the way a 2 year old does. You can learn a lot from a toddler.  They take so much joy in small accomplishments.  Sugarwings gives herself a good old, hop-hip-hooray quite a few times a day.  I've adopted her habit and have taken on that chant, it really makes the day more exciting.

So, here is a hip-hip-hooray to myself for hitting 500! And a thanks to all of you who take the time out of your day to visit.  As a thank you, I drew a name from comments on post #499 to send out a pair of earrings to:

Gail Horowitz

I was looking through a list of things I'd been giving away over the last couple of years, and believe it or not, I've passed out more than 50 prizes. Which averages one every ten posts.  Geez, I had no idea I was able to get rid of so much crap and clutter around the studio, I mean, gift things to so many of my friends.

500 031

Twinks took time to chase bunnies today, that was a good sign she is getting over her pups leaving.  Its good to have hobbies.

Beth and I SEWED  today. We decided we wanted our tables for Miss Frenchie's saleon April 17th to look professional, so we made table skirts.  I had some ticking that I had dyed to look old and she had a tub of ivory table clothes.  As soon as we saw each other's stuff, we traded!  I made a "collaged" skirt, as she was calling it, from a hodge podge of whites and creams and lace and pillow cases, and doilies and curtains.

Copy of 500 032

This picture is of the skirt, in progress.  A far cry from the ticking stripe I started with, huh?

Copy of 500 012

Yesterday, I spent about 12 hours in the studio all alone with my papers, glitter, and glue.

Copy of 500 008

Do you ever have one of those days where you just slide into your zone?  Well, today's sewing project sure wasn't one of them, but yesterday's glue fest was.

Copy of 500 009

My favorite part of the day was sugaring the little lambs and bunnies and chicks.  My fingers were all goobered up and stuck together with glitter and glue, but in a fun way. It had been too long since I'd had the glitter out.  I'd been missing it, and didn't even realize.

I'm going to have to raise the glitter quotient in my life back up to a respectable level.  Some sparkle and that self cheering I learned from my fairy grand baby are a couple of things that can take a blah day and turn it into something a little more special.

Copy of 500 011

Or is it just weird that I sit for a dozen hours in my studio with my fingers all glommed together, yelling out "Hip- Hip- Hooray, I did it, I did it!!"?

PS- Beth is having a good  Giveaway , you should check it out.

This is the post to comment on for the 500th giveaway prize (yea, I know, not a very clever title, but it did get your attention, right?)

antiques/junking, celebrations, Etsy Goodies, give away, the Boutique at Karla's Cottage, vintage paper/collage art

Etsy 017

Wow, what an outpouring of caring and sympathy from everyone about the last pup going on to her new life.  Thanks so much, to all of you. I think we will all miss those little furry sweethearts, won't we?

Sugarwings got a little extra attention, although it is hard to give her any extra attention, when she already gets it ALL. I took her to Toddler Tumbling for the morning and my handsome husband splashed with her at the indoor pool for the afternoon.  She played hard and wore herself out, I think that helped her cope with losing the puppy.  I'm trying the same thing with Twinkle. She is still searching everywhere for the babies, so we've spent a lot of time throwing the squeaky toys for her to chase and be distracted.

Etsy 019

Me too! I'm keeping busy myself.  I actually had some studio time, which I have really missed. Today, I made this  pedestal from a hankie box, a  salvaged bit of a chair leg, some trim, wallpaper, millinery blooms and fringed trim.

The lingerie box in the first photo was from a flea market I went to yesterday. Today, I plucked some blooms from my hat garden and foofed it up a bit. I might line the interior with wallpapers, but am not sure yet. I just love the old rose printed cotton fabric on the top of it.

Etsy 020

There was a tiny bit of trim from the pedestal left, so of course I couldn't waste it! So I edged out the bottom of an 8" shipping tag with it and then started decking it out.  This is listed in my Boutique right now for $9 and has lots of vintage goodies in its makeup!

Etsy 014

Remember last week when I bought the boxes of tid bits from an assemblage artist's sale? The curly-que metal bracket on the top of this wallpapered covered box is from that.  I started this box before Christmas at a craft day with friends, and didn't feel inspired to finish it, until I found that metal piece in my goodie box last week.  My craft pals were coming back out to visit, so this was the perfect time to pull it out and get it done.

Etsy 010

The little doll was a gift from my friend, Jenn, and I turned it into a fairy princess with a millinery flower petal skirt, and an old rhinestone earring made into a crown.  Oh, and of course, some wings. These are a pair of feathered wings from Michael's that I cut down to fit this teeny baby.  She is hanging from a fishing line to a screw I added to the top of the box.  The screw is hidden under an old button.

And what would be the best thing to make a nest for the fairy to sleep in, but an old corsage with some  shredded paper! If I was a fairy, I'd want to sleep there.

Etsy 032

Speaking of Jenn, she sent this elf to me, just out of the blue after I gave her a little painting advice! How sweet was that?

Etsy 033

This surprise arrived in the mail too, from Coddy, who I met in Virginia for a flea market day last fall.  My pal, Robinwas there too and Coddy sent her a similar bracelet.  It sounds like Coddy, is planning to start a blog, I'll let you know if she does!  She makes these bracelets from seashells, and it looks pretty intricately done.  Sugarwings saw it and called it a Mermaid bracelet, I think that is a good description!

Etsy 030

Isn't this a pretty find? I've discovered that a lot of you love old brooches as much as I do, and I am filling the shop up with a variety of them.  This one is only about 1" long and is extremely delicate, yet still sturdy enough to wear.

Puppies! 563

The next post will be my 500TH!!!!!!! Geez, how did so many go by so fast? Probably because I never shut up….So, I'll have a special giveaway for that.  Not these earrings, they belong to:

Kerryanne as the winner of the February giveaway!

I'll chose another pair of earrings for the anniversary giveaway. So, now onto the 500th post giveaway, if you'd like the yet to be determined pair of earrings.

I'm going to do this a bit different than my usual way.  For this you have to:

Leave a comment on THIS POST.  I'll let you know who the winner is on the actual 500th post itself.

Running puppies 031

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentines Day!  Mine was great, I can't imagine a more fun day.  We had Sugarwings till noon, then I played with puppies and afterwards, went junking a bit and met up with my husband to go see a movie (Taken- very gripping and scary) , then pick up Thai food (there was no way we could fight the lines to go to a restaurant!!) and ate it while watching a rented movie (My Best Friend's Girlfriend- predictable and stupid, but had its fun moments, I like dumb comedies).

Bella

This photo is from Bella's new family. Yes, one puppy is gone already.  It was hard to let her go, but she is just down the road at Teddy's house, so I will get to keep up with her and see her as she grows up.

Vday 002

These roses are a custom order for someone, I thought they'd be pretty to show for Valentine's Day, even though that was yesterday.  I usually consider a holiday to last a bit longer than just the one day.  We celebrated Friday night too, and I guess I will just consider this "Valentine Weekend".

Vday 008

For Friday night's celebration, we took the whole family to a Japanese steakhouse.  Sugarwings thought the fire was a little scary, but really got into the chef throwing shrimp into everyone's mouths. She was kind enough to share  too, and thought she'd toss him one of her noodles.

Vday 001

We've had to move the puppies out of their pond and make a barricade for them in the studio, they have already gotten big enough to climb out of the wading pool!  I made a  couple little videos of them if you'd like to see the fluffy babies in action, go here.

I also made a studio tour video, but it was too big to load. I need to figure out just how long they can be, because it really was pretty short.  But too long for Flickr I guess.  Maybe YouTube allows more time, I should try there.

Vday 021

This little noodle flinger was her Daddy's Valentine Sweetie.

Oh- I forgot to announce the winner of my 2 year Blog Anniversary! It is

But I absolutely do not want to give you the wrong idea, that gifts are required or expected when you send in your packages of tags!! Or any other swap I host.

Carosel 056

So, I want to thank ALL of the swappers who joined in to trade tags, and let you know how much I appreciate the effort that each and every one of you has made to put these cute books together. And yes, they are going to be really cute. I love the ones I have seen so far!

Carosel 058

And I have to say, if you have never hosted a swap before, you should give it a try. Anticipating the mail lady's arrival each day, opening up the boxes and packages to admire the tags, meeting all these talented artists, it has just been a blast.

Carosel 059

The reason I like this swap so much, is that it is collaborative.  It does mean extra work for me, but it is worth it to see all the creations all togther and in person.  I don't care for one on one swaps, (even though I was paired with GREAT swappers and got cool returns on what I sent in, when I have done some!!)  I've heard horror stories of swaps gone bad, but with this type of swap, if one person doesn't come through with their portion, no one is left in the lurch without a partner. (like I said, it didn't happen to me, but I have talked to people that it did happen to)

Carosel 038

The deadline for tags to be in is Feb. 5th and I will be showing you some pictures of the books as I put them all together.  I'd say about half are in already, so I should have an avalanche of packages coming in filled with tags in the next few days!

Carosel 057

In the middle of receiving the first 30 or so bundles of tags, I got these gifts in the mail from two different blog contests that I won! The millinery flowers (YUM!) are from Andrea and the sugared house is from Side of the Road. Thanks, ladies!

Puppies! 198

Oh, but you are probably interested in who won the January prize from me, huh? I keep running on about me and my gifts, well, here is one for you- and it goes to:

Mahala

And hey, she is a Puppy Love swapper!

Carosel 024

Don't forget, we are still having the Name That Puppycontest going till Feb. 5th, so leave a comment on the previous post if you want a chance to win a milliefiori heart charm and name one of my furry little buddies.

This heart is a leaded and beveled glass one that I foofed and spiffed with vintage wallpaper and a red velvet flower.  I'm going to list it in my Boutique tonight.

Carosel 029

Today was mostly paper work and boring crap, no time to make anything at all, but I did get a few millinery craft packs listed on the boutique.

Puppies! 206

Oh, and I fixed up this gumball machine that I found at the Goodwill a few days ago.  I've never been an orange fan, but that was an easy change.

Carosel 062

All it took was a can of "Ballerina Slipper" pink spray paint, sandpaper and white acrylic paint. After a coat of sprayed on pink, I roughed it up with the sandpaper, and dry brushed a hint of white over the top. Its now filled with yogurt raisins and sits in the studio so that Sugarwings and I can have a snack when we need a boost of energy during those big play dough projects!

The puppies are up and running now, well kind of.  If you'd like to see a video of them on Flickr to help inpire a name for them, please check it out here.  But please keep in mind, that I thought the camera was off when it really wasn't and the second puppy video has me talking baby talk to one of them (and sounding like a doof).

Puppy contest 002

Ready to Name the Puppy? We have six little Dorkie Princesses, and 5 of them need to be named.  One is already called "Little Star" (as in Twinkle Twinkle).  I'm asking your help in picking names for the rest.

Keep in mind, their Mommy is named Twinkle, their auntie is Sparkle and their owner is Sugarwings. That might be a little hint about what kind of names we like around here. Well, actual that I like. My husband doesn't really care for standing on the porch and calling "here Twinkle, here Sparkle!"

For inspiration, here are some close ups of the little fuzz balls.

And the contest rules:

1-ON THIS POST leave a comment with a name choice.

2-You can enter more than once, but please enter separate names in separate comments, and only on THIS post.

3-I will pick 5 names that I like for prizes.  If there are duplicates, I will write the names of the commenters onto slips of paper and have Sugarwings draw the winner.

4-A very pretty hat will be used to hold the slips of paper!

5-The prizes are glass, heart shaped, millifiori charms.

Puppy contest 033

Deadline?  Hmmm, how about one week from today?

 That is Thursday, February 5th.

Puppy contest 036  There has been a lot of interest in helping me with names, so please, if you have mentioned one previously, add it to THIS post!! You have given me some good ones already, so I'd like for you to have a chance to win a prize for helping out.

Puppy contest 043

Prizes are fun for me. I have to tell you, I get so much back from my readers, that I just feel like I want to do something in return. So I try to always have some gifts for you, such as my regular monthly drawing and other little giveaways here and there.

There will be a prize for Valentine's Day, also, since that is my TWO YEAR blogaversery. Has it only been two years??  And what did I do with all my time before I discover the blog world?

My 500th post is coming up soon, as well as my 15,000th comment.  Oops, scratch that, I just looked to see how close it was and I passed it!! Thanks everyone for all your kind comments, I do love to hear from you, even though I don't always answer, or I do answer and the email gets bounced back to me.  There are a few of you out there who have never gotten the email answers I send and you still keep commenting, even though you must think I am rude. Thanks for coming back anyway!

I'm also close to 500,000 views. My gosh, what a surprise.  Who ever thought, 2 years ago when I started this ramble, that any one at all would even look at it.  Thanks so much to those of you who come to visit and keep me company here.  Working as an artist can be a solitary adventure, it is nice to know that company is always just a click away when I need a break.

Puppy contest 003

Tell you what, I will go back and see who was # 15,000 and send her one of these pretty little hearts too.

Be right back…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

I'm back, and the winner is:

Diane

Here is her comment:

I would love to be with those pups!!!! So sweet!!!!!!!!!!!! Cookies sound yum!!!

Diane, please contact me with your address. And thanks so much to all of you who comment. I always like to hear from you.

Puppies! 198

Here is a reminder of the prize for January.  There will be some more Valentine themed gifts coming for the 500th post and the anniversary too.

I have some gifts that I was sent as part of the Puppy Love swap to show you too. Swappers are generous souls and not only are they sending me pretties, but Sugarwings has some to open too!

Puppy contest 047

My fairy grand baby is head over heels, crazy about the puppies herself. She has adopted them as her "babies" and likes to give them rides in her carriage. Which is better than squeezing them with joy, this is a nice compromise that the puppies appreciate.

Thanks again to everyone who has left such nice comments and to all of you who come by to visit. Also to those of you who take the time to join in my swaps and make them so much fun.  Now, start thinking up puppy names!
