So much for cleaning my studio and getting stuff listed. Instead, I have been playing with Sugarwings and the pups. Or shall I say, with my Double Dorothys.
Sugarwings had a sleepover here last night, and I don't think all 6 pups were ever in their nest at the same time. One had to be held at all times. (Most often, her favorite one, Dorothy)
Even while she was helping me re-caulk the bath tub. Which isn't an easy job to do anyway, but try adding a 3-1/2 year old and a puppy to the experience…
The pups are extremely tolerant of her and actually run to the side of their puppy pond to greet her when they hear her coming. I think they like the attention. This one didn't seem thrilled with a doll dress, but on the other hand, is such a laid back baby, I doubt that much could upset her. This big gal has a name, thanks to Sugarwings. This is the pup she calls Dorothy. And is her favorite of the group.
If you read my blog last year, you might remember Millie. She was our big, cuddly pup from that litter and I am already worrying about the heartbreak from the day Millie left reoccurring with Dorothy.
So, I try to encourage her to play with all the tiny dorkies, not just Dorothy. Its going to be hard enough for me to say goodbye, I don't like the idea of breaking Sugarwing's heart too.
Of course, she'll still have her best bud, Twinks. But I can already see pain ahead for us all when the babies leave. We are just enjoying them way too much!! No way we can keep any, since we already have 3 dogs. And one of those dogs is elderly and incontinent. Which keeps me mopping.
Remember I mentioned litter box training these guys? It is sure going well! I'd say they use the box 75% of the time, and that is only after a couple of days with it. Now, if I could just teach an old dog new tricks and get that 16 year old Bookie, who is peeing on the floor to try a litter box.
So, out of the 4, two have names. Dorothy and Bella. I'll be having a contest, with prizes for you (that I have yet to make) to name the 3 boys and the other girl. There will be pictures posted of them when I get the contest ready to go, so be thinking about it, but don't send your names in yet if you want to enter.
OKay, now I really need to get some work done. I'm hosting a Creative Cottage Girls Weekend next Friday and my studio looks like a 3 year old has been painting and cutting in here.
okay, for a boy…blinky? Cheesy I know, but twinkle for a boy just won’t work!!
what about Bloggins for a boy puppy?
OOOOHHHHHHH ! I want one. I, of course, want Dorothy, seeing as I’m a Kansas girl!!!!!! I even have the ruby slippers!!!
I think they all are soooooooooooooo adorable!!!!
Great photos as always. The puppies are cuter and cuter every day and sweet little Sugarwings is more and more beautiful each time I see her. You are such a good Grandma.
Boy I wish I lived closer cause I’d take one of your puppies. I have 2 small dogs right now and I know my next one will be a dorkie or two ! lol

Those are some of the sweetest pictures ever!!!
LeeLee looks so grown up with her legs crossed, her jeans and her hair in a pony. Isn’t funny how you notice those little things- she looks like a little Mommy with those puppies.
Lordie….Sugarwings is just too cute and HOW IN THE WORLD do you do it? That is why my doxies have never had puppies, I’d be just like Sugarwings…have them all named and a sopping mess if I were to let them go….poor sweet girl…..this made me weepy just thinking about that day!! Sorry…I’m a super softie!!
Sure wish I lived closer…I’ld love to have one of those puppies. We have a 3 year old Yorkie and had a YorkiePo that passed away last year at 11 1/2 from heart problems. There is just nothing like puppy love!!!
Your little granddaughter is adorable…and I feel for her and you on how hard it will be to let those puppies go to their new homes. They are soooo……cute!!

Ooooooooooooh Karla, these photos are just GORGEOUS! The subjects make it easy I’m sure. Precious . . . just precious 🙂
Adorable post ~ how are you EVER gonna top this one?
I feel for you with the aging doggie. When we love them like we do, we’ll do almost anything to keep them with us. I get up in the middle of the night now to help Sissy back onto the bed when she gets down for a drink and can’t get back up.
Please stop by and enter my Cottage Charm giveaway when you get a chance!

I love the two Dorothys! So adorable! I hope it isn’t too hard when that day comes too. Have a great weekend!
My daughters have just been reading this post over my shoulder and they want a Dorothy too. Lucky we live on the other side of the world.

It must be hard to part with the babies but to know they are going to a good home is a comfort.
Sugarwings is in her element with the babies….

I’d be messing with those little puppies all day long too!
Oh my, you really do have your hands full! I don’t envy you saying good-bye, Poor Sugarwings! Does she have a pet or it isn’t right for this situation?! Sometimes it just doesn’t work, we rented and there was no way, not to mention, moving so much(NAVY LIFE). Your photos are adorable, You are making magical memories for your grand daughter! I am sure
she will grow up, to be an amazing artist!
Love the Dorothies, too cute!!
Oh, I know…my friends with the litter have just the one puppy left, and can’t keep any. It is heartbreaking, but, oh, how the new owners have loved getting the well-loved, socialized puppies!
Now this is the most adorable post ever! Love that tiny little dress on that cute little puppy. And barefooted is the best way to go!
Dorothy — that’s a great name! And I love those pix — they’re just her size!
When in the lap of Sugarwings it really shows how quickly the puppies are growing!
Glad to hear the litter box training is going so well. Think the trick would work with most newborn puppies, or just this breed?
Poor little thing. It’s going to be so sad when Dorothy has to leave. My vote for a puppy name is Wookie…. or Gizmo… or something equally furry. Of course, Toto is a very good Yorkie name too. Remember when you named them all after herbs in your garden? Good Luck with the puppy seperation. Maybe you should have a goodbye party for them, so Sugarwings can help celebrate them going into nice homes, and wish them happiness and cupcakes. Just a thought. I know it will be hard for both of you. If she’s anything like me, she will be secretly thinking that maybe, just maybe she will get to keep one- and all the preparation in the world won’t help her say goodbye.
There is nothing cuter than a puppy, except for pictures of little girls with puppies. How delightful!
