Yesterday, the Miss Frenchie's group had a meeting at Mission Road Antique mall. One of our members is Gwen, who has a booth at the mall, so I thought I'd show some of her wares. She travels to France to buy her inventory, and has a great eye, this is some GORGEOUS STUFF!!
The meeting was productive, as well as entertaining. Our luncheon turned into almost 3 hours of chatting. As much as I love my little fairy grand baby, my family, and my studio, it was nice to get out, be in a lovely setting and talk about interesting topics that didn't include kiddie activities. Even grammies need days out sometimes.
Plus, these women are smart, professional, and creative. Besides business plans for the April in Paris show we are working on, design, blogs, magazines and interiors were talked about. Carol can quote the Wall Street Journal about business, and Debbie is sharp as a tack about colors and well, just about anything in retail and design. While hitting other subjects of interest, we still managed to stay on track and discuss what we were there to talk about, Miss Frenchie.
I've been president of our local art guild in the past, and I have to tell you, keeping creative people focused on the subject isn't easy. But I was impressed with this group and the way we had a good time, but still got business done. Deb took on a leadership role and handled it all well.
From what everyone had to say, I can promise that this next sale will be a wowzer. More vendors, more time for preparing, more visual va-voom for each booth! And I thought the LAST one was spectacular. I just can't wait till the next one!
This cabinet was making me wish I hadn't spent all my money on Christmas gifts. It would look perfect in my studio…. What a yummy blue interior. Gwen's stuff is always yummy.
There is something about this time of year that has me wanting to redo, fix up, change my house. Partially it is from being cooped up inside and seeing the same view over and over. Also, having all the glitz and glitter of the holiday decorations, makes the house seem more special and when they are gone, everything seems a little more dull.
Right now, I am housebound, hanging out with Twinkle and waiting for puppies. She and I slept in the living room so I could check on her every hour and sleep with the light on, but not disturb my husband. That poor dog is past her guesstimated semi-calculated due date and I can tell she is ready. So, I am using "our" confinement time to read, be lazy and kick back.
Beth loaned me "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio" and I am loving it. I just finished two books by Jennifer Weiner and one by Sophie Kinsella. Why can't my favorite authors be more prolific??? I am all out of their books now and who knows how long I'll have to wait till a new one is out?
We have a fire going in the wood stove, I am going to make a pot of soup and go cuddle up with my fuzzy baby who just isn't feeling well and read the rest of my book. We thought she was in labor last night, and was once again pretty restless. Or was that because I was checking on her every hour and the poor thing got no rest?
Wish us luck. I hope that next time you hear from me, I'll have puppy photos to show you!
Can’t wait for the next Frenchie sale! Poor little Twinkle, hopefully she will have those puppies soon! The booth at the antique mall, makes me yearn to shop!
Oh la la!! How very pretty!!!
I feel for Miss Twinkle…hope her babies get here soon!!
Happy New Year!
Wow what a good Mom to check on her every hour. I am sure the new babies will be around soon. Sure hope Grandma, Mom and Babies do great.
Wonderful Pic’s
Thanks
Elaine
Oh Karla! I am so happy for you having this time with little Twinkles…there is nothing more wonderful in the world than the sound and smell and wonder of a batch of new puppies! These are her first, aren’they? I hope she is a good mama, of course the puppies will be fine regardless, but I was always so proud of my mother dogs who, as you say, Got It! Some of them are just meant for it, I guess. I will never forget one of the last litters of German Shepherds that we had, many moons ago, and the look on the papa dog’s face as the half-grown pups crawled all over him! That was the same year I was planting corn out in field and as quickly as I put a seed doown, one of FOURTEEN puppies would help me by retrieving it! Needless to say, it was all about the experience and not the hope of harvest! Thanks for bringing back such good memories for me, I’m having a “down” day and you made me smile! Your Friend, Bobbi
I hope Twinkle’s time comes soon. Poor mommy!
You get so much accomplished! Crafting, reading, watching TV, taking care of grandbaby, getting out and about – you must not sleep much!

Whow great pictures! Mmm perhaps we can move to Kansas in time 😉
It’s just like Twinks is looking a little guilty;”sorry Karki to have you so busy with me, but I cannot help it.”
Thinking of you Twinks! You go girl!
Oh I love Sophie Kinsella too, especially the Shopaholic series, I can’t wait for the movie.
Did you know she used to write under the name Madeleine Wickham? I’ve never read any of those books myself I must admit.

I bet the next sale will be fantastic! Glad you got a chance to get out it does feel good to do that every once in awhile. Hope Trinkles has those babies soon she is getting close it looks like! I’m with you I went out and bought all new dishes and spent all day cleaning out kitchen cupboards.
oh poor Twink, its not always fun being a girl. Hope it all goes well:) Rachaelxo
Poor poor twinkle… I hope the time comes soon for her.
Frenchies stuff looks great.. how I wish I could shop in France
I loved the elf celebration.. the kids looked so adorable … they looked liked they had loads of fun not to mention the adults. Karla, you always come up with the neatest ideas.
Oh , and my grand daughter “gets it” also. 🙂 Thats what counts. In, fact, I’m designing some fairy doors to randomly put in flower beds on boulders, trees, side of the house, or wherever for the magic. If you ever been to Ann Arbor Michigan they have them hidden among the shops downtown. Its really cool.
Happy New Year
viva la france!
Karla,
Good luck with the puppies. My parents went through it 1x and although a bit scary, all went well.
I am curious about the show you refer to in your post. Where will it be and when? It sounds like fun.

Karla, i can’t wait to see those sweet little puppies…i need to come to Kansas one of these days and get frenchie~fied myself and shop for hats too of course!!!
I missed the last Miss Frenchie’s but I am looking forward to the next one! I hope it becomes a regular event. For me, there will never be enough vintage markets. I hope it all goes well for Twinkle. By the way, I saw a few posts ago that you wrote the Valentine’s quiz and article. That was great…somehow I missed your byline when I read the story. I think I was able to linger over the magazines more when I wasn’t working full time!
you are so lucky Karla to be involved with like minded people! I’m sure the next show will be a huge hit too. I LOVE that book….Prize Winner…..I read it years ago…..then saw the movie later…such a great book! I have not read in soooo long….I must make time to do that.
I sure hope you and Twinks get some rest. Poor baby just looks like she might pop. Think how GREAT she’ll feel when it’s all over with. But then again…she’ll have a bunch of little mouths too feed and loads of responsibility. Tell her to enjoy it now while she still can!
Karla what a beautiful booth Gwen has. I am trying not to covet in 2009 but it is hard to do with all those treasures displayed there. I hope the puppies come soon, and I can’t wait to see photos. I know they will be irristible. How exciting for sugarwings.Enjoy reading and get some rest.It sounds as if you will need it soon.

I have plans in the near future to visit the Mission Road Antique mall and I will be sure to check for Gwen’s booth. I am excited about another Frenchie’s sale as I enjoyed the first one tremendously.
Hopefully you will be a grandmommy to a liter of cute Twink puppies very soon. Can’t wait to see the pictures!
I travel to KC a few times a year and I always make stops at Deb’s shop and then straight down to Mission Antique Mall. Love those two shops, and now I can look forward to the April in Paris show. I can’t wait to move there, trying for this year. You gals are so fun and creative. Love your pics, too.
