Happy Mother’s Day!

Christees surprise 013
When I got back from California, there was a delightful surprise waiting for me as a  Mother's Day gift! Our Gypsy and Dewdrop completely cleaned up my studio and garage from the chaotic mess left behind from Birdsong!

She even took photos of them at work for me.  And it looks like they turned the day into a party, drinking ginger ale from the plastic wine flutes I'd bought for the event.

Before I left on my trip, I was drained and exhausted from the prep and work, and excitement of Birdsong and I just wasn't up to cleaning up before my flight.  Then, I was even more tired from a week of fun on the trip and dreaded facing the rooms as I'd left them.

It was the best gift ever to get home and see how thoughtful my girls are!!  They cleaned, swept, and put all the furniture back in place. I don't know how the two of them managed to bring  the big dining room table from the garage to the studio on their own.

Not only that, but she saved up some floor sweepings while she worked. Its funny because when Beth and I cleaned the room to get ready for Birdsong, Beth told me that there was enough detritus on the floor to make a whole project.  And after the party, there was apparently even more.

Because that is just what our Beloved Gypsy did! She used the feathers, glitter, moss, ephemera, ribbons, lace and beads to create a wire wrapped fairy for me.

Now, that is a true souvenir of the weekend! And one of the sweetest Mother's Day Gifts ever.

But that isn't all, today is shaping up to be quite the Mom's Day.  My family made an early morning run to a farm to buy us some hens!  Yep, the ladies are finally here.

I'll have some photos of Ariel, Small World, Unicorn, and Mator soon.  (guess who just got back from Disney and was full of great names for the new pets?)  But for now, I'm off to enjoy my special day and hang out with my loved ones.

I hope that your day is a special one too.

  1. Happy Mother’s Day to you too! What a wonderful surprise for you. A clean studio, a great fairy sculpture, new hens, and best of all, a great family! Enjoy your day!
I got breakfast out and a trip to JoAnns for a travel cutting mat and pressing board that I’ve been wanting for a while. (He’s a cutie and a keeper). Waiting on a phone call from the gorjuss gypsy gurls and their dad…that will be the icing on the cake.
    God is good!

  2. What a sweet & thoughtful gift for you… also totally adore the wire fairy made from the sweepings of Bird Song… a treasured gift is so many ways.
    Happy Mother’s Day!

  3. What a WONDERFUL Mother’s Day gift Karla!!!! I so loved that they saved some of the floor debris too! What a great idea and the creation your sweet Gypsy made….such a sweet gift and reminder of your weekend of fun with the Bird Song girls! Looks like Sugarwings is already in love, chickens are so wonderful, she’s going to have such a blast with them! hugs and love, Dawn

  4. Aren’t they just the best girls – the BEST Mothers Day prezzie for you Karla!
Oh lucky you having hens, they are so sweet, I had a bantam “Henrietta” for a couple of years and she used to be beside me when I was gardening – she thought I was gardening just to find little bugs for her to nibble at!!!
Right in the middle of the city of a million people, there is a working farm and our house backed on to it – Henrietta just wandered into our life and wouldn’t go back, no matter how many times we took her!!!
    hugs
    Shane

  5. I thought I had a great Mother’s Day, but now I’m wondering. No one cleaned anything for me…or brought me chickens. Roses-yes…chickens-no. ‘Course that could be ’cause C.D. is scared of all things birdy!

  6. Karla, I think the gift of service is one of the best gifts EVER! In fact, I sometimes request help on something in the house/yard as a gift from hubby when a gift is called for! The relief you felt when you saw the amazing transformation of your house and garage must have been tremendous! Plus, the fairy that Gypsy made is so cute and creative, too! Sugarwings and the chicken look so sweet together.
