the best kind of girls weekend

1st time to babysit both girls

We had a sweet time babysitting for our tiny fairies.  That baby is about as mellow as they come. She fusses a bit if she is wet or hungry and that is about it. Goes right to sleep when I lay her down, and wakes up smiling and playing with toys in the crib until someone picks her up.

We thought it was going to be a piece of cake, after a fun family evening at Pixie Pie's birthday party, and peaceful night with the little one sleeping almost 12 hours and waking up as happy as can be.

Sugarwings was helpful and not at all jealous of the time we spent with her sis-star.

The dogs and the baby had a mutual admiration for each other, and spent a lot of time together. Twinkle adored her and didn't care how much her ears were pulled or twisted.

Agnes Rosebud liked to be near her if she was eating, since only about 20% of the food went into her mouth, and plenty went onto the floor. And she was happy to cuddle  up and visit, but when the ear pulling started, she jumped down.

Twinkle never even acted like she wanted to get away.

What a good dog.

IMG_2755 Of course, Twinkle was probably just waiting for a photo op. Since she thinks all cameras are pointed at HER only.

Our littlest fairy was content to crawl around, stick out her tongue and laugh for most of the day.

Then, about mid-afternoon, she started to wonder where her mom and dad were.  I could tell by the way she was looking over my shoulder and was beginning to fret.

By evening, she was in tears.  She'd never been away from mommy that long and was missing her too much.

So we hopped in the car and drove out to Camp Gaea where her parents were teaching workshops and she joined them for the rest of the weekend.

We still have Sugarwings, so she and I will be doing some painting together and will see a movie this afternoon.  It seems quiet without the baby, and we are already looking forward to our next time to have her back.

Sugarwings is helping me write about our weekend with her sister and it was her idea to have purple letters.

  1. Your grandkids are so darling!! I thought of you and your affinity for fairies today as I was posting on my blog. Our neighbors totally surprised us with a little fairy dwelling in our backyard woods over the weekend! Maybe you could show
Sugarwings the pictures I posted 🙂

and btw, thanks for the hint about the Benadryl–bee stings are much better now!

  2. It’s so nice to see pictures of the baby in your home! Maybe mom and dad will let her stay over more often, so she gets used to being with grandpa and grandma.
I bet Sugarwings just loves her sissy.

  3. What beautiful precious grandys, Karla!
    Looks like everyone had fun!
I am so sorry to say that I am dropping out of the tag swap.
I have been swamped myself with some custom order, being sick on and off, and having our oldest and her family live with us for 6 weeks. I was going to push to pull it off, but just have to many other irons in the fire right now.
I know I am missing out on a lot of joy, but it’s the best thing right now.
Hopefully, life won’t be as crazy next time!
That is so weird that someone is using your photo. My daughter had that happen to her, too. She just ignored it, and it went away. I doubt it is anything malicious, but will pray anyway.
Have a wonderful week. I look forward to seeing some of what everyone did!
    Hugs,
    Becky

  4. My Ben was like that — never cried unless something was up, slept a lot and woke up happy! I know how lucky I was, and you are, too! Sweet babies.

  5. My, my, my!! Who should I steal, the fairy grand babies, or the adorable puppies? Oh, I know! I’ll just steal your picture!! That’s not funny really, but because it’s you, it is kind of funny! Sort of falls in the same categories as the time your computer did strange things with art and pictures that looked sort of like you, but weren’t, and the eyeballs that were sent to you, instead of beautiful charlotte’s. Anywho, I love your tag!! and thank you for sharing how to make it. Wish I’d had time to do the bird swap, but I do thing you have enough participants without me. But I LOVE the tag covers!! Could you reveal how you made them too? Or better yet, sometime in the future you could have a birdsong online tutorial…(I keep hoping! After all, by now you probably have all kinds of ideas for it!)
