198 and Counting and Sugarwings serves Tea

Sommerset_003 Will you be irritated with me if I complain about not getting much done again? I work fast, but I seem to have LIFE get in the way of getting artwork done.

Yesterday all I was able to do was this painting of roses, in an embellished frame, and a few more button jars.

Red_button_018 I’ve really enjoyed making these jars, and they are selling as fast as I list them! That is a nice (and rare)feeling. Red_button_021

The pink one, filled with all pink buttons is my favorite.  I hope to list it today.  Yesterday my Internet went down, it was going off and on, unpredictably, and I would get kicked off just as I was in the middle of downloading a photo.

I have spent the better part of the morning talking to a tech person on the phone, but I think I have the computer back up and running.  Or at least I hope so.  Maybe I should make this a fast post instead of my typical ramblings, so I don’t lose it all?First_tea_party_010

The other reason I didn’t get work much done?  I was doing better things!

Sugarwings and I had our first tea party together.  She was excited to put on her party dress over her regular clothes and actually played with the tea cups and spoon as they were meant to be. She is growing up so fast.

She spent a lot of time pretending to feed Twinkle and the teddy bears. But Twinks was more interested in eating the crayons we’d been using instead.

OK, this is classic Karla here– notice the bright orange Goodwill tag still on the shoulder of the pretty dress? Yep, I take special "First Tea Party" photos for the scrapbook and the baby is wearing a Goodwill tag.  First_tea_party_023

My fairy grand baby stayed over night and most of both days, so we got a lot of playing done and not much else.

We both woke up with the same bed-head hairstyle.  Somehow,it is cuter on her….First_tea_party_019

Sugarwings went with me to run errands, I had to drop off some packages.  I’d run out of poster board to wrap wallpaper in, and had to use the poster that I had as display for face painting last week.First_tea_party_020

When there is a baby around, you have to make do with what you have, it isn’t easy to drop everything and run to the store for poster board to wrap a package.

By the way, the going rate around here for a pumpkin or a butterfly on the side of your child’s face is $2.Beachy_challenge

This is fun- Beachy is having a challenge.  She wants us to use this photo any way we want and then show the results.  I plan on making a get well card for Carole of Scoundrels and Rogues, who is having a rough time with back surgery. I’ve had quite a few back surgeries myself and know what it is like. I spent a couple of years practically bed ridden and still have some nerve loss in my left leg.

If you want to send Carole a card, I can give you the info on where to send it. Marylou is putting a box together for her. I promise to add the link tomorrow, but am having computer issues today and can’t seem to do it. Sewing_box_027

Today is post #198, remember on my 200th, I will be giving away this beautiful book and a hand painted book mark to keep track of your place in it.

Also, leaving any comment at all, any time this month enters you in the regular drawing I have. Do you get sick of me explaining that every time? I should make up a button or something to keep displayed so I don’t say it over and over!

EDIT: here is the info for Carole

Hello Gal blogger friends! Our dear sweet friend Carole of Click here: Scoundrels And Rogues is having a very hard time of it. She’s had 2 back surgeries in the last 10 days. When she called me last Saturday she was in so much pain. I felt so bad for her…She’s in for a long slow recovery. She told me it will be 1 to 2 years until she will be able to walk again on her own again.
Marylou from Click here: Marylou’s Thoughts & Other Critical Matter:) has started the project "Cards for Carole" to help cheer Carole up. She would like you to all send Carole a get well card..Please. Click on Marylou’s blog to find out more of what’s going on. Or you can email Marylou at  maryloudalcino@sbcglobal.net. I’m trying to get the word out for Marylou. Thanks so very much!! You and Marylou are just the best group of Gals there is out there in blogging land. Lets all show Carole how much we care about her…
Bless your hearts! ~Mary~ IsabellasCloset

  1. I love the morning hair! Glad to know I’m not the only one that beautiful in the mornings! LOL The tea party, and the dress with its orange Goodwill tag, looks divine!

  2. Those are precious pictures. I love the bed head picture. I went to the window yesterday morning and glared at the men digging a pool next door. Went in my room later and laughed because my hair was sticking straight up. I’m not as cute as you and Sugar Wings. LOL

  3. What a charming hostess you had! I never would have noticed the Goodwill tag. Hope your computer behaves for you today. I’m lost when it comes to fixing tech problems!

  4. Karla,
I think you’re beautiful! Wish I looked as good as that in the morning. I resemble someone more like Medusa.
Glad you had fun at the tea party and that you took pictures. Did Sugarwings like her new living quarters of your home?
    Love,
    Julie

  5. I too love looking at your photos. Sugar Wings is SO precious and I keep hoping one day to have a Sugar Wings of my own. I have a dress of lace I’m saving for my little darlin’.
As to your ART, geeze, I LOVE it!
My hair looks just as good straight out of bed as it does after I mess with it…jury is still out on whether that is a good thing or not. Oh well, life goes on, right? 🙂

  7. That is hilarious about the red Goodwill tag! A few weeks ago when I bought a new curtain for the bathroom, I was just “testing it out” and like it so much I left it up……days later I noticed the “goodwill” tag still hanging there!
What fun you are having with your sugar wings, and so fun that you posted the bed head picture! She will look back and know she has one hip grannie!

  8. Hello,

I would love to send something to Carole at Scoundrels and Rogue. I wondered how she was doing. Love your shop everything is so

  10. You two are so cute!!! She has her Grandma’s good looks! And I wanted to say that I love the fourth photo down… I think that’s it…the close up. It is just very cool! I sympathize with your computer woes. I thought mine was dying a couple days ago, but so far, nothing. But my printer started dying last night.
Your tea party looked like fun …it made me miss the days of those with my own daughter!!!

  11. Cute Sugarwings and Grandma!!!
I see why the bottles are selling 🙂
Can’t wait for the Beachy challenge…I just printed mine out. And I sent Carole a package…have you heard anything since her surgery?

  12. I’d say you got quite a lot done! and it’s adorable that you both had the same “bed head”, though I think I look more a fright than that on my good hair days! Can’t wait for your 200th!! Blessings… Polly

  13. Sugar Wings is such a little lady! She has the most adorable face! How DO you get anything done when she is around? =)
I’d love Carole’s address when you have a chance.
Your Sissy wants to join in on the challenge – this will be fun! Thank you for the link — I hope when the weekend comes I’ll have some more people sign up (I usually have lots of hits to my blog Saturday and Sunday mornings).

  14. Sugarwings is totally adorable and the tea party looked like much fun! Creating precious memories — that’s what life is all about. Love those button jars too!

  15. Those button jars are adorable. So is your grand baby! You are to be commended for taking the time from your very busy life to share so much with us other bloggers. Thanks for sharing how-to’s on various interesting projects.

  16. Awwww, I’m jealous. What a wonderful way to spend the day – with Sugarwings having a tea party. She is getting to be so pretty. Oh my, those eyes! I think she resembles your boys.

  17. Sugarwings is a cutie pie and I just had to giggle over the orange tag…I have definately been there and done that! You don’t look bad with bed head hair at all, you should see the rooster hair that goes on in my house! Your package should arrive today by the way via UPS. Happy Friday 🙂
    Hugs,
    Dena

  18. I’ve been playing on the net this evening but now feeling a little guilty knowing that I haven’t been visiting my usual blogs and here I am visiting yours and leaving a comment as well! I haven’t lurked for ever it seems and posting is whenever I get creative and post my writing. But tonight while searching for granny squares I discovered you! In learning that the recent issue of “Romantic Country” winter 2007, contained one of the articles written by you, I was doubly thrilled to find that it was the section of the mag that I had really enjoyed reading and had admired the photographs { it sits to the right of me at the desk as I write}.
But when I saw the pictures of you in the dumpster I had such a laugh that I had to leave a comment and thank you for the uplift you gave me. I guess I’m not the only Miss Brodie that doesn’t feel her age at times when it comes to hunting for treasures no matter where they may be.
I actually went into a dumpster myself at a LCBO looking for crates and boxes some years ago…hehe…your pic jogged my memory. I’ll admit that at times in doing such an act I have felt silly but in the end it was always worthwhile! Some of my best finds have been in the garbage.
I love the mirror you found as well…has to be my fav.
A quick note about your son …he certainly is a fine fellow. Our kids sound so much alike. I share the same worry as you for my two teenage kids; a girl and boy. I think every mother wants the best for their kids. So for the moment enjoy the late movies with him and talk.
P.S.you both looked so very lovely at the tea party.
Nice to have accidentally found you,
    Sincerely, Annabelle >^..^<

  19. HI Karla,
How cute is that photo with Sugarwings… She really looks sweet!
Do you know where I can buy that Foof-a-life book? I absolutely love it but can’t find it here in the Netherlands (all great books about crafty things come from the US. Publishers here don’t think we craft much apparently… )
    Have a great weekend!
    Elizabeth

  20. Oh Karla… strolling through you blog is better than sitting down with any magazine I can think of… ahhh…. enjoyable!!! thankyou!
