Just a note to let you know that my email is being a bit screwy. Its not a Typepad issue, Typepad has been very sweet and cooperative lately. I don't know what the deal is, just that I respond to emails (not just on comments, regular emails too) and they are not getting through.
Its frustrating to answer emails, then get a message from the Postmaster or the Mailer-Daemen saying they are undeliverable. Sorry if you were one of the dozens of people I couldn't respond to! There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, some (quite a few, actually!) messages just are hitting a dead end.
We've had our first snow and it was a doozy. More cold than deep, but enough to keep me indoors by the roaring fire. Trouble is, my husband is out of town and the stack of wood is getting low. I'm feeling like a wimp, but just DO NOT want to go out there in the single digit weather and fill a wheelbarrow with wood.
On the other hand, a fire in the wood stove sure feels better than just turning up the thermostat. (and is much cheaper too!) I'd better man-up and go load the wheel barrow.
We've been staying indoors decorating and redecorating the tree. I think that Sugarwings will make her pink tree an ongoing project for the season.
Each ornament has been on every single branch of her tree at least once so far. Sometimes all the decorations seem to be on the same branch at the same time.
I filled a basket will all of the unbreakable ones and let her do as she pleased with them. Of course, she had a little bit of help from Twinkle.
Although, after a couple of hours of hard work, even Twinkle was getting tired. And Sugarwings was just getting started.
I don't think this will get old for my fairy grand baby, she's in pink heaven with that glowing tree.
(and I am loving those heavenly curtains!)
As for me, I think I'm done with my share of hall decking. Its a mini explosion of holiday glam this year for me, and I'm kind of liking it kind of laid back.
Well, laid back for ME, that is!
These peacock feather fans go a long way in adding some flair when I tied one to a lamp shade and another to a plain white feather wreath.
Years ago, I used to raise peafowl and these feathers were gathered from Percy. He dropped them all every summer and it was a treasure hunt for me to crawl around the barn and walk out in the woods every day searching for feathers. Some days, I 'd find one or two, other days maybe a couple dozen.
Now, I've taken bundles of the plumes and wrapped them with vintage ribbons, added a millinery flower and a jewel. Plus a touch of glitter.
There are a couple left from Miss Frenchie's and I have them listed in the Boutique, as well as the celluloid box I've posed the fan next to.
Don't forget that you can win this book by Amy Barickman (isn't she a peach to offer it?) Along with the book, you'll get a couple of hankies from me to use in the projects and a gift certificate from Amy to use for downloads from Vintage Workshop.
My December giveaway is open to everyone. No tricks where you have to post about it on your blog, or add yourself as a follower. All comments, all posts in the month count. I just like to say thanks for taking the time to come by to visit!
I just wish you were here in person and could help me heft that wheelbarrow of wood.

I’m pretty wimpy when it comes to cold weather but if it ment a real wood fire then I could probably manage a bit of help.
Love the pink tree and the girl decorating it!

Karla,
You are so good at responding…even when I just say something to just chat. Hope you don’t give that one another thought.
Well…I LOVE what you did with your chandelier! What an incredible collection! My husband is driving me a little nuts with his, “What are we going to do with all of these pink and turquoise ornaments (i.e. Silver Bella swap treasures). Mind you, we live in a house that is primarily pink, light green, grey and purple…beats me…lol!
I love Sugarwings with her “snowflake halo.”

I love vintage hankies. I just made a cafe curtain for my kitchen window out of vintage hankies. Keep the view and some privacy. Lots of compliments, just stitched a bunch of them together until I got the right width and length.
Thanks for such a cute post today. It just doesn’t get any better than pink trees, ornies, cute kids and pups, now does it!! BTW, I want your chandelier!!!!
Big TX Hugs,

Sugarwings and Twinkle are what christmas is all about..thanks for reminding us..love your fluffy, sweet christmas decor..
No problem Karla, you respond better than anyone else out there. And wow look at all the beauty you’ve created around you. I love all your ideas – especially that chandelier. Amy’s book looks great. I’ve been collecting hankies for years now and have a plan to make a hankie blankie … but what fun I could have with that book and all the other hankies I’ll still have left. 🙂
hard to imagine you all snowed in and tucked up with log burning fires when it is stinking hot here! that dear little girl and her dear little dog!!!! Precious!!! Rachaelxo
Beautiful post!
Karla, How cute Sugarwings and her little tree!! My little 2 yr old granddaughter is doing the same thing with a little tree I gave her. It makes me feel so good that she enjoys it so much. The pink is so pretty and perfect for her. I just love the way your new curtains look!! What a great find and that she was willing to let them go!! I don’t think I could have!! Your decorations look great! Linda
My favorite is that feather wreath. It’s very pretty.
i know she is just having a blast tweaking that tree! Great pictures! So full of concentration!
The curtains are beautiful! Isn’t it a gift itself to have wanted them for so long and finally find them?
Love the chandlier!! It is just BEAUTIFUL!! I also really really really want that book and hankie!! hehehe!
I LOVE your chandelier!! Absolutely darling.
Your chandelier is just stunning.
I am agreeing with Sugarwings….pink is a lovely color for a young lady to decorate for Christmas! She looks very busy and happy.
That is a great book for those of us who collect hankies.
I love the blinged out chandelier!
How fun for sugarwings to have her own tree. Kids her age have so much fun doing and redoing what they enjoy.

Thank you for the beautiful Christmas pictures, and yet again, your beautiful Sugar Wings, she is simply enchanting. How fun for her to have her own little pink tree. I am amazed once again at the beautiful memories you continue to make and share with us…you truly are a gift to my heart…Thanks for sharing 🙂
I’d help you load that wheelbarrow, but right now my feet are so cold I’m not sure I can move them.
Maybe I need some of your foot/gloves from your earlier post???
Sugarwings—that is the pinkest Christmas tree I have ever seen! Gorgeously decorated, girl!
She is so very Beautiful. I want a pink tree…m.

your home must be amazing. Love the pictures.
Sugarwings looks lovely in the soft pink glow. There is nothing like Christmas and children. I had an early Christmas with my granddaughter in Italy over Thanksgiving. We did the same things, make oranements for the tree, hang stockings, wrap presents, bake cookies and enjoy the days together. Blessings to you and those you love. Sea Witch
You are just the best gramma! Her very own tree. How fun is that?
Love the curtains – love it ALL! I need more time to come back and really take it all in – for now – off to work! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Karla,
Those pictures of Sugarwings are true treasures. I love how Twinkle keeps her company, and the thought of her enjoying her tree so much, warms my heart. At least something is warm! It’s been very cold here too, but we don’t have snow. There’s a possibility of just a little bit as we transition over to a little warmer weather, but only for a few hours.
Thank you for your kind words about my booklet. It means a lot to know that you like it.
Take care, and keep warm.
P.S. Your post reminded me too, of when my son was small, and he would decorate our tree so that the ornaments would have “company” on a branch. It’s so funny, and sweet the way a child’s mind works that way.
Those are gorgeous photos of Sugarwings! Absolutely beautiful! I love your ornaments on the chandelier, too! HAPPY!!!
Hey how are you doing over there? I just heard on my radio that there is terrible wheather in Kansas, hope you don’t notice at all! Love the photos of Sugarwings, she is such a pretty girl and I love to see her decorating with all her heart! Take care over there!
someone beat me to that gorgeous box…dang!!! i really wanted that…we had our first snow that actually stuck to the ground today…just a tiny bit…but it is so cold and windy outside…it’s pure misery to me…your holiday decorating looks gorgeous Karla…Sugarwings looks like she is really putting a lot of thought into how she wants her tree to look, all of those pictures are adorable!!!
Hi Karla..your emails are getting through here…so is the mail..got my ring yesterday..love it..& the beautiful way it was wrapped… thanx again…your decorations are lovely so is your fairy baby….Lorraine

Leandra’s little tree is so cute…I love that it’s just her size!
That sweet pink tree is just right for Miss Sugar wings! I bet she has a ball with it. Looooove the new curtains! They are going to make you happy for a long time!
She really is concentrating on geting that tree ‘just right’! I’m sure she is very proud of her very own tree.
Sugarwings looks so involved in her tree…too cute!
Your new lace curtains do look “heavenly” and little Sugarwings looks like a little doll! So cute with her pink tree!

Hi Karla – Thank you for visiting my blog…Now, your little fairy grandchild is adoreable place ornaments on her very own “pink” Christmas tree. Something she will always remember doing as she grows older.
I also love the peacock fans made from Percy’s cast offs – beautiful. I missed Miss Frenchies this year – I was out of town….boo hoo. Now I will have to wait another year.
Your chandelier is festive and gorgeous…thanks for sharing your home and life with us and offering the very generous give away. xo Julie

super adorable pink glow photo! chandelier is outstanding!!!
Sugar Wings is sure growing up and pretty as ever. I love the fact that you let her decorate herself. I’ll have to let my Grandaugter do that looks like so much fun. She loves pink too by the way. The feather wreath is awesome! Thanks for the peek.
Hello, I’m new to your blog and just started my own blog this week….Your chandelier took my breath away! Your photograghy is some of the best I’ve seen yet and your granddaughter and Yorkie are both adorable. I love her little pink tree….a decorator in the making. I am anxious to go back through your old posts. Eye candy for a home lover, like me.
Very cute post today. Sugarwings is growing up so fast.
Pink is my favorite color. I love this time of the year.
I love your definition of “laid back”! Those Sugarwings pictures are wonderful – the overalls and the pink tree are a good combination.
Karla,
It has been a few months since I visited your blog. I had forgotten how beautiful it was. I truly enjoy reading your posts.
Blessings to you and your family!

What enchanting pictures!! The ones with snowflake boarders especially. Good job composing them!
That really is a great idea to let Sugarwings have her own tree to decorate.
Thank you for sharing your springs of Christmas decoration joys. Oh, and good luck with that wheelbarrow.
