Today, I had a mini craft day with my friend, Angie. I'd made some muffins for us, and we talked for hours, while we worked. It sure brightened up our gray, cold, rainy afternoon!
I used a box mix for the treats, but changed it up a bit:
One box of cinnamon muffin mix
2 eggs
1-1/2 cup organic cinnamon applesauce
1 cup of dried mix fruits (blueberry, cranberry, cherry)
1 cup of roasted sunflower seeds
3/4 cup milled flax seed
Angie had brought some old French postcards, that we scanned, printed, and glued to some little wooden plaques that I spray painted cream. They have a touch of glitter to them too, but it doesn't show much in the photo.
And look at the vintage glitter that she gave to me!!! I love the can it comes in, too. She says she also has a giant vat of OLD german silver glitter that she will bring over next week. Can you hear me squealing with joy??
My job today was dollie do-overs.
(Isn't the lamp fab?)
Over the last couple of years, I have been collecting neglected, old, washed up beauties to rejuvenate.
Don't you think that the girl in the back probably resents the one in the front? If they were sisters, she'd be the big boned, "handsome" one who watched her flirty little sis attract all the men.
I really should have gotten a before pic of this bride. She was so spooky looking, that I was tempted to use her as a Halloween decoration as she was.
I did get a before of one of the pink dolls, and wrote up a step by step how to for the makeovers. I'll post that Friday if you are interested.
Also, geez, here it is mid October and I haven't announced the OCTOBER GIVEAWAY yet!!
Don't worry, I thought of something fun for you. Remember, all comments, all month count, there is always a monthly giveaway. I was just so busy with other stuff, I forgot. But I have it figured out, how about one of my GRUMPY FAIRY books?
I've figured out the printing problems and will have some ready to sell soon. As thanks for all your inquiries and interest (and patience!) I'll give one away in October to a commenter.
I love your dollies! too cute like you…Grace
Would love to hear how you make them over. So funny about the “big boned” sister.(giggle)
Ooooh yes! Please post the Dolly Do-over tutorial! YOU’ve gotten me on a doll kick, and I can’t wait to sign up for your paper doll class! 🙂 Thanks for all your inspiration. Hugs, Cathy

really love the tin of vintage glitter, as
that is like “gold” when you find it.
Your muffins look delicious and glad you
had a fun crafting day. Your Blog is so
much fun to read.
Blessings to your Nephew and Family. His

altered muffins…hee hee…they sound very yummy…the glitter container is beyond cool…and she has a stash you say…how lucky is that…your dollies look really cute Karla…you did them up so pretty!!!
You sure know how to do up a doll, Karla.
Karla your comments while you are blogging are so funny….I see you have a love for old dollies just as I do …. some are creepy and some are cool …some are beautiful. I save the smallest of my old rhinestone brooches also to glitz them up a little too . Your dollies and doll lamp are great !
:o) Sue
Hi Karla, I just love the dolly makeovers. I have two big bag of dolls that need makeovers and some major TLC, so I would love the Dolly do over.
I also like the little Christmas plaque you made.
Hugs Karen
I’m in love with your dollies. I have a gal I picked up several years ago and made her an outfit BUT she IS dressed for the Halloween season,
NOW I believe she needs a brand new outfit – light and airly like her ‘cousins’ posted here on your blog.
What do ya think?
Feels like Winnie-The-Pooh: “Is it raining in there? It’s raining out here too.” Storms for everyone!
But a vat of glitter definitely seems to be enough to offset any cloudy day! What a treat from Angie! While enjoying pictures of the dolls I was speculating if there could be anything more fun. Then you announced your October Giveaway and I learned the answer was “Yes!” ;->
I’ve snagged several of thse little dolls over the past couple of years…. true to my form, I’ve yet to do anything w/ them so would love a tut on your redo.
Ok, Karla. You’ve got one creepy doll to the far right on the first doll picture. She’s got …well, … not Bette Davis eyes that’s fursure…maybe Exorcist eyes?? I’m positive it’s just the light – or IS it??? yeeeeshhhkkkk….. vewy, vewy, cweeeeeepppyy…. (wink, wink) You did “jazz” the dolls up nicely.
I do however, covet your vat o’glitter!! –

I love those dolls! What are we going to do with them???? Will they be in the shop, if so let me know! I think I have an addiction to old dolls and vintage wallpaper!~ xo Andrea
Love your plaques…and that glitter canister is awesome!
ooh, it’s always so nice when I visit. So much pretty stuff to look at!
I love the tin of glitter. I’ve yet to manage to track down any German glitter, seems to be elusive in the UK, but I’ll find some eventually.
Thinking of Hansel & Gretal’s daddy. Must be so hard for them – and all of the family.

I am stomping my feet, turning red and in a moment will throw myself to the floor, wailing and kicking, repeating “I WANT A GRUMPY FAIRY BOOK” until all breath leaves my body. PICK ME! PICK ME!!!! Your Slightly Strange Friend, Bobbi
I heard this unidentified megasqueal here in Michigan. NOW I know what it was — Glitter Joy!
