Yesterday, I had a few friends over for crafting. Shawn brought these wonderful treats, her homemade marshmallows. She also brought a pot of Italian Wedding Soup. I wonder if I could get her to drop by a couple days a week with goodies like that if I planned more craft days……
This is Shawn with her sweet little girl, Bethany, who made lots of things as gifts for all of us throughout the day. (like the tag necklace her mom is wearing)
Sugarwings was there for most of the day too, but she was an overwhelming force of nature. I was so busy chasing her that I wasn’t able to get the camera out till after she had left in the afternoon, I was worn to a frazzle by her antics.
I told the other bloggers that were here that I wouldn’t be surprised to read on their blogs today: "The truth about Sugarwings and what really goes on at Karla’s Cottage".
Shawn is wearing a tiara I gave to her, she will be wearing it for Silver Bella, because she offered to drive up from Kansas City to help me with my booth!! How sweet of her, I am so relieved to have someone help me schlep all the junk from the truck and (hopefully) wrap up the packages as things (hopefully) sell.
Beth and Shawn both brought their Cuddlebugs and I was able to emboss and ink a bunch of tags then add vintage ribbons and crown stamps to them.
That was a simple project that I could do while tending to the tiny, two year old hurricane that was ripping through the studio all day.
Beth was in a similar frame of mind, we were doing mindless work, of wrapping up packages of things. She was getting ready for a sale she will be setting up next month and wanted these packs of pretty colored old tags ready for that.
Beth wrapped up ribbon to sell too. It was just a good day to sit and talk and put things together.
I’ve been looking around for a crown stamp that I liked and had no luck. Shawn had one with her and I used it on some parchment card stock sprayed with glimmer mist to make these small, square tags. I was just going to make some to use on packages, but they came out so cute, I decided to bring some to Silver Bella to sell at my booth. I wish I had used the dotted Swiss Cuddlebug embossing plate more, it is my favorite one.
Marilyn and Shawn both got some Halloween pieces made, Marilyn was working on a book, and Shawn was making ATCs
Look at what they brought as gifts for all of us! Marilyn is also a quilter and she made this patchwork scrapbook, filled with wonderful papers, and Shawn gifted everyone with a "Fright Night" collage.
Today, I am putting aside Silverbella packing and babysitting and being social to do some "real" artwork. Well, at least I hope it turns out good enough to be called real art!
I have a deadline to get a watercolor still life done for a show I am supposed to be entering. So, I’m off to paint a pear.
ps- Since I haven’t been adding new things to the Etsy shop much due to other committments, I decided to at least mark some stuff down. Check HERE for sale prices. I hope to add more to the shop this weekend. Well HOPE to at least! Thanks so much for shopping there!
Looks like you guys had some fun! Those colorful tags are just fabulous!!!
It was a fun day! I can’t believe I only had taken a few pictures! Too busy chatting :)Sugarwings was fine!!! Bethany had fun too she fell asleep on the way home. You keep having craft days and I’ll keep cooking :)Thanks for my goodies too I can’t wait to wear them at silver bella. I even found some old jewelry that my Grandma had given me that was hers that I plan on wearing!
all of your goodies look so cool! I love the crafting photos. I’ve been looking for a crown stamp too- who’d think it’d be so hard?!?
Yum, I have been wanting to try making those marshmellows myself. Shawn sounds like a talented lady. Cook, crafter, crown bearer and craft booth helper.
I bet Sugarwings was just fine. Something would be wrong if she was too calm and quiet. The calm quiet days will come. And if not that is okay too.
Looks like Silver Bella plans are shaping up nicely. Love all the tags.
I checked both Shawns as Marilyns blog and both didn’t have the nerves to write the truth about Sugarwings, perhaps they still are in shock :-D. Aaah I’m reading Shawns comment now and I see you have given her a bribe!!
Haha Karla, everyone with kids nows that they ‘display unpleasant behavior’ when you wouldn’t expect it at all! My best friend and I used to say: He/she NEVER has acted like this before. He/she never does this! Still looking at the cuttle bug, I like that swiss dot too!
Have a nice day!
Sugarwings sounds like my kids in the workroom. Into everything and demanding attention lol! Hope it’s just a phase for you/her 🙂
Hello,
I am celebrating my 100th post. Please stop by and enter my giveaway.

I’m glad you were able to accomplish something Karla, since it was suppose to be a work day. Some days for 2 year olds are just like that, a whirl wind or as you call it a hurricane. Sorry it turned out that way, but let’s hope Sugar Wings got the wind out of her wings for the next few days and is on her special behavior. Once can hope!
Love the cuddlebug crown/polka dot tags you just made. Love, love them. Makes me want to go out and get my own cuddlebug. But I will restrain myself for now. Maybe, the store archivers has one, I could try/use sometime.
Do you stamp or embelish your tag 1st or after you run it through the cuddlebug machine?
Gretchen
What a great day crafting with friends, and especially with friends that bring food. The soup and treats sound yummy. The tags were really nice.
Have a great evening.

Lol! No need for expose’s…it was a great day. Thanks again for your incredible hospitality.
I love the pear photo…hope we’ll get to see the watercolor version. No doubt, it will be beautiful!
Marilyn:)
Karla, I don’t know how you manage to do everything you do, and still be so thoughtful to so many. You are amazing.
The room you guys were crafting in looks amazing!! Is this at a shop or in your house? I am jealous! I have a small corner and no friends close enough to have a “craft day”
How fun; I think that is great to meet blog friend and have a craft day. I think every one should have a craft day if at all possible. It would be so great.. sigh….
Hugs;

Love all the tags you will be sold out in no time.
“The truth about Sugarwings and what really goes on at Karla’s Cottage”.
That comment gave me a chuckle.
I look at videos of my daughter, at Sugarwings age, and don’t know how I didn’t realize that she was a little hyper compared with other kids her age. She was also very bright for her age and I attributed her “business” to her intelligence.

I like that swiss dot pattern, it looks so happy! When my Samantha was 2 she was…VERY BUSY, just like SugarWings. When she turned 3 it was as though a veil lifted and my sweet little girl returned. So have patience, Grandma (like I don’t know you do!…anyone who does crafts with a two year old is probably eligible for sainthood!) Your Friend, Bobbi
WOW Karla!!! You have been so busy! It must be wonderful to have such great and helpful friends near by! Those marshmallows look so pretty and yummy! I have never had homemade ones.
Those crown tags are awesome! I want a cuddlebug now! I love the swiss dots too, especially with the crowns 🙂
I have been checking your Etsy daily for goodies 🙂 I LOVE your work!!
Big Bunny Hugs,
Amy

What a fabulous day and beautiful things. I love that little white basket/bowl/holder with the tags. Sounds like Ms. Sugarwings is wired for sound! At least she’s cute!

Looks like a fun day. I love those kind of days…m..
Hi Karla,
In my last comment to you I forgot to add the “y” to everyday….I do that all the time…in such a hurry I am… !!!
So where every I’ve commented today it shows up as everday-cookies, with no”y”. Boo hoo… Thank you SO much for pointing that LARGE error out to me!!!!
Oh, and I wish I could play with someone’s Cuttlebug! I love textured papers! Maybe that could be something to write on my Christmas list!!!
Have a great weekend!!! And do save some energy for Silver Bella itself!!!
*Heidi*
I love your blog. I’ll have to check out your etsy shop. I’ve been looking through antique stores for all sorts of things lately and I just haven’t found one that fits my personality. I love what you’ve done. Thanks for sharing.
Ooooh. I like those crown tags. Very pretty!
I love those tags… I have a “thing” for games, tags, bingo cards, etc.
Hi
Shawn’s homemade marshmallows bought back some sweet memories for me. Many years ago my Mother and Sister made them one year when I was living out of town and mailed me a box.
They are both gone now but this has made me think I must get the recipe out and make a batch this Christmas.
I really enjoy your blog and wish I could attend Silver Bella but we are now in Florida for the winter so no chance.
I hope you have a successful show but I am sure you will.
Hugs
