Cherubs, Dolls, Fairies, and a real life Dollbaby

Old_doll_clothes_003 What a nice day I have had.  I spent most of it with the fairy grand baby, then took my niece to see Harry Potter.  On the way home, I rented a copy of Miss Potter to watch tonight, and thought maybe I should eat a Pot Pie with it.  But I am way too full of popcorn from the matinee to even think about dinner.

I found the German die cut cherub that I thought I had lost when packing up for the trip, isn’t she a pretty one?  And I had the price wrong, she was only $2, frame and all.Old_doll_clothes_001

While going through things that should be sorted, sold, or something, I came across this little box of vintage doll clothes.Old_doll_clothes_004

I might keep some of the most lacey ones for making fairy dolls and sell the rest on Etsy.  I am sure there are plenty of doll makers who could use them.Old_doll_clothes_006 Aren’t they sweet? I’d say they must be handmade.  Look at the beading on the little pink one!Old_doll_clothes_007

And the tiny little handmade flowers on these.

They are enough to make me wish I was a doll collector.  But honestly, I collect enough stuff!!!!!!!Old_doll_clothes_027

I do like to take old dolls and repaint them and turn them into fairies.Old_doll_clothes_028

But these elfish babes are not dressed in real clothes, I glue bits and pieces of stuff together to make their dresses (I hate to sew).  Maybe the doll clothes would be wasted on me.  Although, I can see a couple of them framed as part of an assemblage.Old_doll_clothes_029

What I like best about making fairies, is adding the tiny details, like this button "crown" on her head.Madisons_birth_019

Speaking of little dolls, I am celebrating my newest niece’s 2 week birthday on Friday by having her mother over for a mini spa at home day!  Her sister and I will watch the baby while she soaks in the tub and relaxes, then we will fix the new mommy a special lunch and give her a pedicure. It will be Madison’s first "Girls Day Out".  I had thought about trying to surprise the mama, but then realized if she was soaking and relaxing, she might want to bring fresh clothing, and we need to plan around the baby’s feedings. So I told her about her mini spa day and she is looking forward to it.  I think I’ll bake up a casserole or two for her to take home for the weekend, also.Old_papers_003

And while I am talking about treats, remember to enter my July drawing for the COTTAGE COLLAGE KIT giveaway.  Here are a couple cards I will slip into the packet of vintage papers.

All you have to do is leave a comment to enter, as many times as you would like.

By the way, Beth is having a great giveaway too! (actually she is having two!)  http://bethleintz.typepad.com/

Thanks for visiting me. I appreciate your comment and am trying to make an effort to keep up my blog. I am just not as good at it as you are.
And just gotta’ say…love that Sugarwings! She is such a cutie patootie!

  3. How lucky Madison & her mommy are to have you so close by. She is a beautiful baby & I know her mom will enjoy the special day. Crank up NORA for her & make sure there are plenty of bubbles in that tub!

  4. Love those little vintage dresses! What a wonderful day for the new mom! So sweet! The closest to a day at the spa for me has been going to the grocery store alone and ordering a starbucks orange mocha to drink while I lolligag through the aisles! LOL…. Have fun!

    Karla,
Sounds like you should open a day spa. And casseroles to take home, man on man I’m dropping in at your house! Look forward to meeting you at Silver Bella. Would love to be dropped in your drawing. What a great Aunt you are; and how could you not be with such sweet babies?

  6. Your vintage finds are lovely and your fairy dolls beautiful. What a kind, considerate thing to do for a new mom. We could all use a little day spa time. I look forward to meeting you at Silverbella.

  7. Hi Karla,
What a thoughtful person you are! Can mommy soak in a tub just two weeks after birth? Sounds like two women wanting to kidnap a beautiful baby for a few hours to me. 🙂
I love your $2 picture! What a steal! Good Eye!
    Sweetest Regards,
    Shelley

  8. Our neighborhood women often deliver meals to new moms or anyone who’s having a tough time at the moment. I’ve been the recipient in the past and simply having a good meal delivered by someone is so helpful. In fact, yesterday I delivered lunch to a mom of 4 who just had a difficult surgery. Those vintage doll clothes are beautiful, by the way.

  9. I think you’d be a great person for anyone to have in their life Karla. You’re kind, always doing fun interesting things and talented, but I think your love of family simply shines through everything you do. They are fortunate.

  10. What a wonderful time you have planned for the new mama, but please, no bubbles – they cause “problems”. The German die cut angel is beautiful as well as the scrapbook. No pictures of Randy the BIL to share? You certainly do know how to spoil your family and make them feel like they are the most precious people on earth!

  11. I really enjoy reading your blog. You sound like such a nurturing person. Your spa day for the new mama is a wonderful idea. I’m sure she’ll enjoy it.
By the way, I’d love to be included in your drawing.
    Thanks,
    sharon
