A little bit of painting got done today, not nearly enough. I only have a few days to finish this book for Sugarwing’s 2nd birthday!
Her party is one week from today. Its hard to believe she will be 2 already, but on the other hand, I feel like I have known her forever and can’t even remember what life was like before she came along!
Instead of making more illustrations for her birthday book, I puttered about instead. I did little projects like hanging my rolls of ribbon from a ribbon on the spool shelf I store my supplies in on the desk.
The ribbon ties to the spindles and can untie to change spools. It really only took a couple of minutes to do, so I can’t say what happened to the rest of my afternoon. It was a blur of non-productivity!
On 8-8-08, Sugarwing’s Hippie Chick mommy had a Leo birthday party and I went to face paint for everyone.
I was a bit early, so the fairy grand baby helped me get set up and tried out the paints. She wasn’t quite herself, and I realized the poor thing had a fever, so I took her to my house for a sleepover and her parents got to stay and enjoy their party.
We cuddled in front of a movie, and every once in a while, she’d turn to me and say, "I sick". She just was not feeling well at all.
Maybe being up checking on a feverish baby throughout the night explains my lack of accomplishments today?
Oh, I have a thank you to mention- look at these pretty butterflies! A kind hearted reader, Caitlin, sent a rainbow full of them for me to use to make fairies.
I will be making some little sprites, but for now, I had to hang a few of the butterflies up to enjoy.
With company and trips and everything else going on for the last two weeks, I haven’t made up a prize for the August giveaway yet. Any suggestions?
There is one going, of course, all comments count.
We just don’t know what the prize is yet, except for this little vintage brooch with a blue stone.
Is her birthday the 17th? My husbands is that day and our anniversary is the 19th…31 years!! And our daughter got married the 16th. Grandaughter is the 7th and her Daddy is the 6th. My other daughter is the 27th!!
I held out for a September birthday, I’m more suited to Libra..or is it the other way around?? Those Leos and Virgos needed me to lighten them up.
Happy Birthday Sweet Little Fairy Child!!

Oh I just love the painting you did of sugarwings and twinks having a tea party. It is so sweet! She is a doll, sorry she didn’t feel well. It’s always nice to have snuggle time, I got to have a little snuggle time with my granddaughter today, too! It’s never enough though!
Aww, poor baby! I can’t believe she’s turning two either. Your painting looks really sweet and I love all the details.
Poor Sugarwings! Lillian is sick as well. It’s hard to keep her down though! Hugs to that little baby! 🙂 What an amazing Grandma you are!

There is nothing so sad as a sick child. My heart breaks when you know they feel so bad and there isn’t a lot you can do to make them better. Poor sweetie pie.
I’m shocked she is not even 2 yet. She seems so much older. She is one very smart and talented little girl.
Hugs,
Joanne
Fun painting of your Little One! Two birthday? Love it!

That finished page of your book is sooo gorgeous Karla!! These sweet colors have made it even better. Sorry to hear that Sugarwings is sick, but you know how it is with these little ones; they’ll have a fever suddenly and they feel terrible but they are quickly on the mend as well. I do hope that’s the case now too. Have a nice weekend!
they look at you with those eyes…and just the look tells you that they need to be wrapped up in your arms…and nothing else matters…
big hugz and love…
I hope miss sugarwings gets better soon! I’m glad she has a grandma like you! She is going to treasure all her memories of you and that little book you are doing is precious!Hqave a great week.

Your talent WOW’s me! Not only are you talented and put it to good use, you have a beautiful little girl to use it on. Hoping little SugarWings fills better. There isn’t nothing worse than a sick child. Have a great week.
Some days are just not meant for productivity, but for snuggling. I hope she’s feeling better now.
That photo of Sugarwings painting with that tie-dye backdrop is precious. Might want to frame that one. The fact that you only see the back of her head hints at her cute, creative-like-her-grandma personality…

The Leo party sounds fun! I’m a Leo/Virgo depending on what paper I read 🙂 I hope she feels better before her bday! I love the tie dye in the background it’s beautiful!
It’s always good to let them paint with only undies on because you don’t have to get the paint outta their clothes and upset their mummies!! Uhhhhhhh, only teensy children, of course!! Hah.
Smoochies,
Connie
That beautiful book is going to be such a treasure! Hope little sugarwings is feeling better, so sad sick babies! At least they are cuddly when they are sick!
Karla, the book is beautiful! Seeing your butterfly, I remembered the one butterfly that I hang outside the my home and my dog ate it. Hopefully Sugarwings is better the day of his birthday.
What a lovely post! 🙂 All that inspiration is making my design brain buzz…
Poor little one! I hope she’s on the mend.
Hope Sugarwings is feeling better today. Her book is going to be wonderful and she will surely love it.What a cute way to hang ribbon. I wish I were so organized. The blue broach is beautiful by the way. You have a good restful evening.

OH poor little sugarwings 🙁 I just cant stand it when babies are sick. I just want to cry! Is she better today?
I love the tea party painting Karla! She is going so love the book so much! It will be loved for generations to come.

AWWW poor little sugarwings. I hope she is feeling better, it is so hard to have a little one sick, when they find it hard to express how bad they feel. The Butterflies are so pretty. Please tell your little cute Sugarwings I said Happy Birthday, will keep her in my prayers.
Hugs;

Poor Sugarwings! I hope she is better tonight. What a wonderful, wonderful memory book you are making for her. I’ve been working on my son’s book that was supposed to be for his 21st birthday. He’ll be 23 this November. I wonder if I’ll work faster for a grand baby? (Shame on me)
