Good thing the puppies don’t hold still much

Wallppboxes 027

Today is the last day for naming a puppy.  There sure have been some good ones, choosing will be hard.  Some are almost too good to give to a puppy that will be leaving me in a few weeks!  There are names in the list that I want to give to a dog that I will keep forever!

Beth and I had a fun craft day yesterday, and she brought a Valentine ribbon to tie around this little one's neck. Of course, the minute I put her (the dog, not Beth) back in the Puppy Pond, she was turned into an object of tug-o-war and her sissies pulled off the ribbon and are still playing with it today.

Besides making up little heart shaped "Puppy Love" tags for the swap, I spent the craft day covering anything that didn't move with vintage wallpaper.

In honor of Miss Frenchie's sale (April 17th), I lined the drawer of this shelf with a page from an old French dictionary.

And speaking of Miss Frenchie's, here are some new additions to our group there, as well as new additions to the blog world! Three Shabby Chicks have  a beautiful new blog, go by and tell them I sent you to say hi!  They only have two posts up so far, but you can tell by looking at them, that they will have pretty things to come.

Back to my quest to paper the world- isn't this old silverware box great with the top wallpapered? The interior is a perfect match for the pink of the roses too.

Maybe I should name this pup "Vanna White" she is great at showing off the products.

Beth and I debated over these metal boxes I covered. We both thought it needed something.  I decided that they should be left as is for now, what they need is a label stating what is stored inside. And for now they are empty. But the vintage cards I glued to the front have the PERFECT place to write on when they do find a purpose.  I think I will take these to Miss Frenchie's sale too.  I used more of the French dictionary pages here too. I wonder if I should come up with a pretty word in French to add to the labels before I take them in to sell? Or leave them blank for the new owner to label themselves?

What do you think?

Know any pretty French storage type words??

These bits and pieces of old sewing goods and trims were just listed in the boutiquetonight, while I listened to Lost.  I got a good over view of the program, but will go back and watch it on TIVO later tonight, and of course I will watch Idol on TIVO too. Yes, pathetic soul that I am, I watch it TWICE in a night. The first time, I am usually working and listening (and tonight, it was while opening some of that package avalanche I have been expecting) so I watch it a 2nd time to actually sit down and see what is going on.

Top Chef is looking good too. Gotta love Wednesdays!  And of course, Thursdays. Although Mondays aren't so shabby either.

OOOOOOHHH, that reminds me!!!!!!! Did you hear about Rachael Ashwell??? She is declaring bankruptcy.  I hope all works out for her business, I'd miss all the gorgeousness.

Of course, I have plenty of gorgeousness right here. Little Miss Sugarwings is awful nice to look at.  She is being sweet and cuddly tonight, her Daddy, isn't feeling well, so she is snuggling up to make him feel better. And to keep them company is a fluffy puppy that came in a red felt Valentine purse from Stephanie Oyler. Thanks, Stephanie, she really is enjoying it!

Stephanie's gift was part of the avalanche of swap goods (this is about half the stuff!). You can't tell from this photo, but I am being very organized with this swap. Even Beth, the account, said she was proud of me for keeping track of everything.

I have a check list on the table where I mark if the address was included, then I slip the address itself into an envelope and mark down if the postage was included and put the money on the pile of dollars.  Tags get counted and marked off the list, then go into the large wire basket.  All ribbons and tissues and boxes and bubble wrap are "harvested" for reuse. I recycle!

On the wall, is another project I started today. Remember the soffit in the studio that I covered in rose and floral wallpapers? On this side of the studio, I decided to feature flocked, neutral colored papers in old frames I painted different shades of white. Its not done yet.  I might add some sepia toned photos.  And more small frames to fill in.

Well, it is time for the Top Chef judging table and I have to be able to look into Tom's eyes for this. I've got a slight crush on Chef….

Oh, quickly before I miss Chef's eyes- Beth brought me these wrought iron pieces!! Love them!

  2. THAT was the picture I wanted to take!
The framed wallpaper looks good on that wall, and I think you could put a small frame of paper inside some of the big ones for a layered look.

  3. I tell you I think I’m going to cry when you find homes for those little puppies. I’ve grown so attached to them. I just love those sweet little faces! They look so tiny in those photos!
How sweet that Sugarwings is helping her Daddy to feel better. Boy she sure looks like her Daddy!
I love all your items you made. You sure have been busy!
Can’t wait to hear the names you pick for the girls.
    Hugs,
    Joanne

  4. Karla, i love what you are doing with your wallpaper…the silverware box looks especially lovely…what a great shape…and the puppy posing by it could not be any sweeter…i am loving Top Chef this season…i want Fabio or Stefan to win…i have liked them from the beginning…who is your favorite?

  5. The puppies are getting so fluffy now. So cute.
Speaking of wallpaper. I have been hounding my local Lowes for discontinued wallpaper books. Finally, they had two of them for me. I was so happy. My Husband just looked at me like I had a screw loose. Tee Hee. No, not vintage but they were beautiful floral prints.
Love what you did with your papers , Karla.
Sugarwings and Her Daddy. Nothing like Daddy/Daughter bonding. Wait until she wants to “style” his hair.

  6. We’ve reached kind of a crisis point with your blog, Karla. I’m now calling my husband over to look at puppy pictures. Even he’s saying “awwwwwwww.”

  7. I can not wait to see the names the puppies will be blessed with. I am sure it will be hard to name them but even harder to say goodby.
I love the boxes you have done. You have some wonderful ideas.
    Have a wonderful day
    Elaine

  8. Ack! Too much gorgeousness in one post!! Old wallpaper on boxes, on drawers, in frames…tags galore..gorgeous Sugarwings (and her dad is pretty cute too!)…and those PUPPIES!!! Thanks for giving me so much prettiness this morning.

  9. The puppies!!!!!!!!! Wish I had them all and in that ribbon, too cute!!
Love all your ‘doings’ with wallpaper!! Have fun!!

  10. Oh, you are SO making me want those little puppies!!! I have two of my own beauties at home, though! That shelf looks amazing! I love what you did with it! The boxes are awesome, too!

  11. Oh, help. Oh, no. Oh, dear. OK. First things first — the tags got off priority yesterday. The one thing I didn’t stick in there is anything for postage and label or anything. I’ve got to find the other post, but I’ll do that and get it out to you in tomorrow morning’s mail. I’m sorry — it’s a bad excuse that too many things are in my brain. Normally, when I join a swap I’m manic in doing it right and now I fear I was terribly wrong. But the tags etc. should arrive today — that part is right!
OK, number two, Puppy-with-a-bow now looks like a Dorkie! And a cute one at that!
And I’ll stop by and visit the Shabbies. I love all your wallpaper things. Amazing, isn’t it, about what a little glue can do.
    Thanks for being patient.

  12. Your helpers are adorable! I love what you did with the vintage wallpaper. I just sold my boring old desk and am looking for one that I can “embellish”.
    Enjoy the pups!
    Teresa

  13. The puppies are so adorable. I just love the red ribbon around it’s neck. It would so hard to pick which one to keep and harder still to let the others go!
I loved the framed vintage flocked wallpaper, I noticed it first and recognized that it was a new addition to your studio! I think putting sepia toned photos in the middle would be perfect!
I also love all of those shows. I had to TIVO Top Chef so I don’t know who had to “pack his/her knifes and go!” I do love the Italian accent on the one chef, though!!

  14. That puppy is adorable with the ribbon. It posed so sweetly. Great photo of Sugarwings and her Daddy. The boxes are great , you did good work. I am proud of you for being so organized. I sometimes have such a problem with organization, but I am trying to do better. You have a great evening with all those cute tags.
