How can you tell if your nose is broken?

Sbella_booth_107 Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!  Actually, no, not at all, I am not ready for bad weather, I am a warm weather lovin person and hate the thought of winter approaching!!! To me, that is all fall is, a warning that snow will be here way too soon!

And today was a gloomy autumn day, so I will apologize in advance for my photos not being very clear, there simply was no light in the studio.

Since the weather was ominous, with hints of cold and winter, I decided to make a shabby chic snowlady.  Her arms are snips of millinery flower branches, instead of twigs and of course, her buttons are vintage rhinestones.Sbella_booth_122

And look who I caught sneeking in from the garden to get away from the cold weather!Sbella_booth_124

Luckily, I had a gilded cage ready and waiting for her. I’d found this little terrarium at a garage sale for a dime and all it needed was a bit of vintage foofing to make it appropriate to house a fairy.

Hmm, I can’t remember if I showed these two bracelets I pieced together this week.Sbella_booth_114  Pardon me if I am repetitive! Sbella_booth_128

But I was whacked in the nose by a head butting baby today and can’t think straight with my face throbbing.

Does it look broken to you? My husband thinks I am exagerating, and honestly, I am feeling like a whiny wimp about it.   I might take an advil and go to bed early tonight.Sbella_booth_113

Today was a long one. Sugarwings was happy and sweet, just being a two year old, and I was being a 50 year old. Not always the best mix, energy wise.

We did work in the studio together, I finished up some odds and ends and she painted mermaids.

For now, she is enamoured with Ariel and tells anyone who will listen to her "I want Mooormaids, ALL the time."  If we’d let her, she’d be parked in front of that DVD with a goofy grin on her face all day long.

Img_7687 Don’t forget, comments from Bellas get entered into a seperate drawing for a pair of crown earrings, and all other comments are thrown into the hat to win the October Surprise, (which isn’t really a surprise at all.)

Its this set of linen napkins, a white glittered pumpkin and another pair of crown earrings.

Thanks for being understanding about me not being able to answer all the comments, now that Sugarwings is here more.

  1. Ohhh Karla.. your nose looks swollen a little?? I have heard that they can’t always tell a nose break right away until the swelling goes down. I hope you get it looked at!!
Sounds like you had the same gray COLD day we had today. 🙁 I am not looking forward to winter either. BUT we have lots of glitter and fun to look forward to in November… the days are looking brighter. haha
    xoxo Heather

  2. Your bracelets are absolutely beautiful!
I broke my nose when I was in college. I didn’t get it x-rayed for about 4 days. Mine was read then started turning every color in the rainbow. Bless your heart!

  3. I dont think there’s much to be done about a broken nose, is there? It’s not like it can be plastered. Perhaps just put an ice-pack on it and hope you dont end up with a pair of black eyes. 🙁

  4. Beautiful snowman and house fairy! Love the bottle too!! I have had the “broken nose bump” as well and it really does hurt like hades for a day or two! Hope you feel better!

  5. You have my sympathy! That is awful when you get hit in the nose. I think Grey Goose and vodka would help and call me in the morning. Ha Ha Love the snow lady she is cute. Hugs

  6. Oh poor thing, your nose is so red.. it could be broken! But if it is, there isn’t anything they can do for it, other than make sure it is in the right position to heal. And if it isn’t, they would MOVE it to the right position… OUCH!
Love your bracelets, don’t remember seeing them before, so you aren’t repeating yourself! Hope your nose gets better!

  7. Awwwwwwwwwww, that’s a pretty bad *boo boo* there 🙁 Ohhhhhhhh, but I love the bracelet, the snowman, the vintage bottle . . .oh heck, I just love it all!! . . .except the looks-like-it’s-broken-nose. eeeeeeeeeeeeee

  8. If it still hurts in the morning, you better see a doctor! It would stop hurting if it wasn’t broken…. You have so much to get done! I hope it isn’t broken….
    Hope you sleep well…karen….

  9. Oh Karla , I sure hope your nose feels better tomorrow. We’ve had some cold weather here in Virginia too. Cold at night but warming up in the daytime. Its been really windy today and the leaves are falling like rain which means we have a lot of raking to do. I hope you have a nicer day tomorrow.

  10. Ouch! my son smacked me in the nose with his head once when he was younger. MAN that hurt! He also slammed the door on my head once and pushed my head under water another time when I was relaxing in the tub with my eyes closed. I didn’t see or hear him come in. He said he was only trying to help get the shampoo off my forehead!
    Blessings,
    Lorilee

  11. Hi Karla! I am so sorry about your nose 🙁 Believe me, I know what it is like! ALL of my boys did that to me and Chad both! OH does it ever hurt!! And now, my dog has done it to me, lol!
Your new goodies are beautiful. I just love that little snowman and the jar with the ballerina is gorgeous! I just love the brooch on the top 🙂 I collect rhinestone brooches, the bigger the better, lol!
I hope you are feeling better tomorrow and the sun is shining for you!
    Love ya,

  12. Ouch! I have been buttheaded in the nose and gotten countless fat lips so boy do I know how you feel. I am not looking forward to the icky weather either. Can you believe that we might get some flurries already?

  13. That snowman is so darn cute…I always look forward to the first snow. However, I am trying to have a garage sale and you would know…snow is in the forecast. Something just isn’t right when it is so early. I lost scare tissue from my nose once…an it does hurt. Kara

  14. Oh, poor sweet Karla! I hope you put ice on it! ALWAYS PUT ICE ON IT! Whatever it is! Sounds silly, but almost always true…just like the first rule of all nursing: WASH YOUR HANDS!. I am so glad that you have the baby with you a lot these days, you are so lucky (and, I’m sure, so tired!). Your goodies are gorgeous as always, and I really love that top charm bracelet, looks very antique-like. I hope you have a good day, for heaven’s sake, try to take it easy! Your friend, Bobbi

  15. I don’t know how one can tell that a nose is broken either, but I do know how you are suffering. In my last house I had an angel hanging above the bed, one night the little rope broke and the angel hit me right on the nose. My first reaction was to hit back. I had tears in my eyes of pain! But it went well after about 24 hours.
You have made some lovely creations again, the snowman and the bracelet are gorgeous. And you make it even harder for us, who cannot go to silver bella! Have a nice day!

  16. Ouch! I’m a nurse, and I would say if it is still swollen and sore today, you should probably see your doctor.
Just found your blog through Sanctuary Arts at Home. Took a look at your etsy shop too. I LOVE vintage! I will be starting my own etsy shop soon, selling my photography. I am an amateur, but I am enthusiastic! You can take a look at some of my photos on my blog.
    Nice to meet you!

  17. I am so sorry about your poor little nose! Nose injuries hurt SO bad and they always make you teary, too, so that makes you feel dumb! LOL! I hope it feels better! I love that bottle you created with the fan!

  18. Ouch! So sorry! That has happened to me too many times.
I’ve been thinking….there is nothing you can’t do in the craft department….and in record time…I think you should let us *your fans* give you some craft challenges! Sound fun? hehe. Reminds me of the Truth or Dare game we used to play.

  19. Ooohhh! I know that hurt! Only a doctor can tell you if it’s broken unless it’s sitting at a really odd angle, then you know.
Love the little fairy box and all your creations for that matter. I really wasn’t thinking snow until I saw your snowgal. Guess it’s time to get out the mica chips and white glitter!

I had a dream last night that we were hanging out painting! It was a good dream.

  21. I wanted to pop in and thank you. I found your site awhile back when I was looking for bottle brush trees online. I have been popping back in ever since. You have so much eye candy to look at each week. I wanted to give you a little project back to thank you for the bottle brush link. It’s in my name link.
Hope your nose is ok. You don’t have black eyes. That’s a great sign.

  22. you’re not a wimp..it hurts!speaking from experience..if your eyes turn black and blue or purple underneath..it’s broken:( if so you can have it set asap before it heals.

  24. Karla, I check your blog every morning and before I go to sleep at night. I just love what you do. Thanks for making life beautiful! Martha

  25. I so remember that feeling – can’t tell you how many times my kids did that to me. It hurt like heck, but I don’t think it was ever actually broken. If you wake up with black eyes, though …. that’s not a good sign. I hope you get better, and I love your snowman.

  26. Love your little snowlady–she’s really CUTE! Beautiful bracelets too.
I hope your nose feels better today. It makes my eyes water thinking about it:(

  27. Karla,
Your work is beautiful. I’m so sorry about your nose. You’re not being whiney, you’re just hurting. Take care.

  28. I am sorry your nose was attacked. I don’t think you are being a wimp at all. If it hurts, it hurts. Love your bottle, your bracelets and your snowlady. Take care of yourself. Sue

  29. OH Karla; I remember those days, being whacked by a small bomb shell of a child. When my daughter was just about 6months old she wore the very hard white baby shoes, and was kicking and hit me in the eye. Now try telling that one at work and see who believes you. ha ha Love your snow lady she is very chic. I really don’t know how to tell if a nose is broke, you should go and see a Dr. just to be safe.
OH and buy a hockey mask. lol
    Hugs;
    Alaura

Your snow lady is sooo very cute. I’m not a big fan of snow mans, but your style I love. Never thought of a snow lady. Very clever with the decor you used on her. She’s a winner!
I don’t remember seeing the bracelets, and they too are great as is the embellished bottle. You are always so productive!
    Gretchen

  33. Ouchhhhh, Karla! I hope your nose is doing better now! I remember those baby head bonks… they never seemed to mind it at all, but I always ended up with a bruise! lol
