Bringing puppies with us on the trip was such a good idea. I went back and forth up to the last minute on whether or not I should take them. I talked to a friend about babysitting them, I wrote everyone who had shown an interest to see if they wanted to buy one CHEAP before I went out of town, I fretted and fussed and worried about them getting too hot in the car or peeing everywhere in my sis's home.
Sissy said she'd be disappointed if I didn't bring them, and I hated the thought of missing the last bit of time with them before they were moving on to new families, so I decided to pack them up.
It was the right decision. We spent a lot of time outside enjoying Sissy's lovely garden and patio, and the pups could run and play with Sugarwings.
And since I had litter box trained them (smartest thing I've EVER done!!) they were safe to leave at home, penned up with their box nearby while we went out and explored.
We took our fairy girl to the June Jamboree in Pendleton, IN. It was an event I impatiently waited for all year when I was growing up there. I really thought she'd love it too. And yes, she had fun and rode some rides, but my little nature girl was much more interested in the park and waterfall we walked through to get to the rides. Walking along the creek and watching the waterfall was mesmerizing her so much that we had to convince her to come along to the flashing lights and carnival music up ahead.
Smart kid.
She is realizing at a young age that true happiness comes from the simple things.
We also spent time in Mounds State Park. When I was a kid, we were taught in the Indiana history books that it was an Indian burial grounds. Now they know that the mounds were built for some equinox reason.
Its been 30 years or more since I've been there, and I'd forgotten what a beautiful place it was. Sugarwing's Daddy, Mr. Zen Master really loved it there.
Leave it to my family to go hiking in white clothes and barefoot. But aren't they pretty that way?
Yes, very pretty. What a sweet, happy couple these two are.
White didn't work out so well for me. My sisses and I went to Sephora while out shopping and I leaned up against a sample lipstick display and ended up with a series of pale pink through plum polka dots along my skirt.
Any hints on how to remove lipstick from white cotton?
That is, if there are any of you left out there to answer after making you look at all my family vacation photos. I promise, next post will have some arty or old stuff in it.

Oh no Karla we love to peek into your life and to see what your son and his new wife are up to, hehehe! They sure look happy! I am a romantic person I love to see other people in love and I am still in love too! And of course we never get enough of photos of Sugarwings, she is such a pretty flower girl! If I only want to see art or antiques there are numerous other blogs…there is only one with Sugarwings and the puppies!
What great photos, and I swear, Sugarwings should be a model, that first picture is amazingly magazine worthy!! She is simply a beautiful child. Hi Karla…I agree with the poster that recommended hairspray…supposedly it removes ink, etc. Your pix are beautiful…glad you had a good time with ALL the babies! Patty in Kansas P.S. I use “Grandma’s Secret Spot Remover” and it works great. I get mine from a local craft supply store, but I have also seen it in fabric stores. I’m sure that it can be purchased on-line too. I love this stuff…it’s worked on everything that I had to remove so far.

With respect to stubborn stains, I swear by this mixture and I’ve even used it on colored fabric with no loss of color. Mix equal parts of dishwashing detergent {the kind for handwashing dishes} and hydrogen peroxide. Apply liberally over the stain and let it sit overnight. For really nasty stains I’ve even let the stain soak in the mixture in a bowl. If it doesn’t take it all out the first time, repeat as many times as needed. Google it and you’ll find lots of testimonies on how well it works without harming the fabric! Good luck! xo, Sue
Love looking at all the wonderful pix..you son and his friend and Sugarwings look adorable in their white clothes and barefoot, looks like a posed photo-shoot, with them walking along together….So glad it was a good idea to take the puppies and that they did well….
I think the idea above about the peroxide will do the trick, i know it takes out blood from cotton….good luck

Your sugarwings is so beautiful! Watch out boys (when she gets older, that is ;D)!! And your family is lovely in white. Midwest summers can be the best things in life (growing up in MI, there was always interesting things happening).
Not sure how to get lipstick out of cotton as I don’t wear makeup, so hopefully you will get some answers on that one…

I loved visiting the beautiful Indiana countryside. My mother comes from Indiana so it always was said with a hallowed hush in her voice. I think she was homesick for a long time. I loved the photos of Sugarwings and the happy couple. I adore those puppy pics and am sad they are all gone. Hallelujah though for finding good homes and for keeping one! I dunno about the lipstick. It is oil base probably so maybe shampoo. I would do the same. I love white but I always get dirty! My friend? calls me sloppity poppity,
Try eye make up remover. It sounds weird but it has worked for me in the past!! Jenny

I always use washing up liquid on lipstick stains, it tends to lift it out well, then wash as normal. All should be fine. And yes, I get lipstick over me all the time,white is not a colour I should wear (and is the reason I didn’t get married in white, I’d have spilt something down the front, so I went for dark red instead!).
