How to join us at Bird Song- Hope to see you there!

IMG_8845

Well, I think I've got the Bird Song site ready for sign ups!  No photos yet of Debbie's project, but a very nice description. And if you know anything about Debbie, you have to know she'll do something excellent.  She is so talented and has such a discerning eye for beauty.

If you would like to sign up to attend the classes at my home on April 30th and May 1st,  please email me at karlanathan@sbcglobal.net after 8 am Central time Monday, Feb.7 and I will send you a pay pal invoice for $250.

We have space for 20 guests. I'll answer the emails in the order they come in.

Above is a bit of my kits, just a small part of it.  The NEST banners are meant to have options and can be made low-color or with touches of robin's egg.  There will be quite a few options for the banner, so everyone can end up with an unique creation.

Carol 1
Have you seen Carol's NEW blog?  She is doing two blogs now, so we get double the Carol goodness.

And I am honored to have her teaching at Bird Song! She'll be showing us how to do this fringed tree.

And Lisa will teach this woven piece made with old lace and natural elements.  I met Lisa online through our blogs and could tell she and I were meant to be buds.  She'll be quite the addition to the weekend, and I'm trying to convince her to stay longer, because she is a blast to hang out with. I love to have a few days in the studio with her just to play with papers.

Hosting this weekend is kind of a selfish thing for me. I'm so looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it here, to spend time in the studio with me and with this great group of teachers that I am gosh durn lucky to have as friends.

Gosh durn? Well today, I beat cabin fever by getting out of the house with a good group of friends and doing some retail therapy. And in the car, we had a cuss word talk.   Gol Dang and Gosh durn came up, as well as Jiminy Christmas.  One friend said she always knew her Dad was about to explode if he invoked Jiminy.

My bad habit? Freakin. And Durn. I'm a big Durn-er.  Oh, and crap. Do you have a favorite faux swear word?

We were shopping at Bottoms Up, the once a month spectacular headed by my Bella buddy, Gwen of French by Design.    My huge purchase wasn't old, even though the place is filled with the best antiques to be found in KC.

I got a giant bag of rhinestone bracelets for 20 bucks.  These sparklers will be fantastic art supplies. I've already added a bundle of the neutral colored ones to my Bird Song banner supplies.

They are just perfect for the S in NEST!

I bought 60 plus packages of these bracelets, and each package had 2-3 in the bag.  I'll share.  Leave a comment on this post and I'll give a few away. They are fun to wear, or to cut in half and glue onto a project.

PS- how embarrassing, my last post was full of typos and odd sentences, if you read it on Google Reader. I hit publish instead of preview and once you do that, corrections don't show up on googlereader.  It was a bit of a jumble.

  1. I’ll be emailing you first thing on Monday because I so want to attend your event!!
I’d also love a chance to win some goodies. Looks like you had alot of fun today. I can’t think of any faux swear words because when I’m stressed I use the real thing (I’m sorry!) Oh, but my husband will occasionally say, “Son of a biscuit eater”.

  2. Are there hotels close to your house?
After a month i finally figured out how to make blogger do spell check….so I have plenty on my blog. Just got know your human :o)

  3. We all say “what the ham sandwich” instead of hell. How we came up with that I have no idea. I think Frank may have brought it home from work:) SO wish I could come to your event Karla but that is my birthday and I think my dad and my kids would be pretty unhappy if I was gone. Birthdays are a big deal around here:)

  4. My daddy was a sailor so I can cuss with the best of them — only when I’m truly upset, though. I don’t think I have any faux ones, but I should work up a list. That would be a really good thing. I’m going to take notes!

  5. bracelets==love!
I didn’t even notice the typos, that’s just how observant I am!! Hey, doing all I can to get there, my hubby got the maps out tonight and he’s contemplating my itinerary!!

  6. Karla, I LOVE all the projects and the banner is beautiful. So ready to see a bit of spring. I wish I lived closer–looks like a lot of fun! LOL–when you hear me say Freakin, I’m REALLY mad 🙂 Durn is a major one for me too–I used it alot last few years since I was in risk management at a bank-do not miss that.

  7. Oh how I wish I could join in on your Song Bird classes:( Perhaps when life isn’t as much in the way I will treat myself to something so fantasic.

  10. hey, like fairyrocks said, can never have too much bling… I have a feeling your weekend will be sold out before I can figure out whether or not I can afford to go… of course, I should’ve been thinking about this sooner, but have been a bit busy with a holiday back home in Australia….

  11. holy-moly..phooey..shizoo..fuddle=duddle…lol..still waiting for the lottery to come in Karla….thanks for the goody giveaway…glad you were able to get out with your friends..

  12. Karla,
I’m sorry, I only use real sweare words! LOL I guess you know that after spending a weekend with me. I’ll try to come up with a few for bird songs in case sugar wings or any other fairies are close by.
    Lisa
PS Can’t wait to see Debbie’s project.

  13. ahhhh….
I do go with the mentioned crap fairly often.
    And crud.
    Also Fudge Balls.
Even an occasional God…{long pause}…bless America!
Loved the photo of you shoppers!

  14. Kimberly Budash

Love, love, love everything you do, would love to add some “bling” to my stash. Here’s hoping that I get a chance to win, thanks for the chance!!

  15. “Son of a biscuit” is my word of choice. With a six year old around you have to be careful!!
Add me into the giveaway please! That would have been an awesome bag to find! Perfect for my spoon necklace slides!

  16. My favorite faux cuss word is Back Asswards instead of backwards. Looks like you & sugarwings had a blast with the snow fort. She is a lucky little girl to have you & you to have her. Moulin is getting closer & closer. Can’t wait! HUGS!
