Hip Hip Hooray!

"I did it, I did it!! Yippee, Hip- Hip- Hooray!"

I am quoting Sugarwings there, that is what she says when she is proud of something she did. I was telling Beth today while we were working, that its too bad we don't cheer ourselves on more as adults the way a 2 year old does. You can learn a lot from a toddler.  They take so much joy in small accomplishments.  Sugarwings gives herself a good old, hop-hip-hooray quite a few times a day.  I've adopted her habit and have taken on that chant, it really makes the day more exciting.

So, here is a hip-hip-hooray to myself for hitting 500! And a thanks to all of you who take the time out of your day to visit.  As a thank you, I drew a name from comments on post #499 to send out a pair of earrings to:

Gail Horowitz

I was looking through a list of things I'd been giving away over the last couple of years, and believe it or not, I've passed out more than 50 prizes. Which averages one every ten posts.  Geez, I had no idea I was able to get rid of so much crap and clutter around the studio, I mean, gift things to so many of my friends.

Twinks took time to chase bunnies today, that was a good sign she is getting over her pups leaving.  Its good to have hobbies.

Beth and I SEWED  today. We decided we wanted our tables for Miss Frenchie's saleon April 17th to look professional, so we made table skirts.  I had some ticking that I had dyed to look old and she had a tub of ivory table clothes.  As soon as we saw each other's stuff, we traded!  I made a "collaged" skirt, as she was calling it, from a hodge podge of whites and creams and lace and pillow cases, and doilies and curtains.

This picture is of the skirt, in progress.  A far cry from the ticking stripe I started with, huh?

Yesterday, I spent about 12 hours in the studio all alone with my papers, glitter, and glue.

Do you ever have one of those days where you just slide into your zone?  Well, today's sewing project sure wasn't one of them, but yesterday's glue fest was.

My favorite part of the day was sugaring the little lambs and bunnies and chicks.  My fingers were all goobered up and stuck together with glitter and glue, but in a fun way. It had been too long since I'd had the glitter out.  I'd been missing it, and didn't even realize.

I'm going to have to raise the glitter quotient in my life back up to a respectable level.  Some sparkle and that self cheering I learned from my fairy grand baby are a couple of things that can take a blah day and turn it into something a little more special.

Or is it just weird that I sit for a dozen hours in my studio with my fingers all glommed together, yelling out "Hip- Hip- Hooray, I did it, I did it!!"?

PS- Beth is having a good  Giveaway , you should check it out.

  1. Ahhh, the innocence. I love how sugarwings shouts “hip, hip, hooray”, but I realize that she didn’t acquire that habit on her own. I think she has one wise grammy.
Chuckling at your comment regarding the “gifts”.
The table skirt is sure to be a winner with Miss Frenchie’s patrons.

  2. Oh the world is going to be a much prettier place now that you are going to glitter it up more. Hip hip hooray for that!
I can’t believe you gave away so many wonderful prizes. You sure are a giver my dear!

  4. Clap clap clap (that’s me applauding for you!). Yeah you did it. Congrats not only on 500 posts, but on 500 inspiring and lovely posts to say the least and a lot of give aways. I love my china pendant necklace and when I don’t wear it Miss LiLi M. (that’s my form) does! So congrats on making people happy, you have to multiple that 500 quite a few times. Hooray! I love your glittery Easter boxes! And your tableskirt is sewn so clever. I can see that I can always use every beautiful peace of linen, a little tear or spot doesn’t make it useless, thanks for inspiration! Enjoy today, as I am sure that a lot of friends will come over to cheer: you did it! Hip hip hooray! You deserve it!

your table skirt is lovely…the piece you used for the center panel is very pretty!!!

  7. Well, Karla, if I can go up and down the halls of the nursing home belting out Broadway-Style tunes such as “Milk of Magnesia, there ain’t no better way of Pleasin’ ya!”, I think that a little glue and a few Hip Hip Hoorays are well within the normal workday. Your Friend, Bobbi
(Glad you’re feeling better, and Twinks, too!) Oh no, that sounded a lot like “and Toto, too?”…the residents are in for a lot of Yellow Brick Road today!

  12. Karla I love your creme and white table skirt!
I adore all the scallops and gathering.
At first glance, it looked like the beginnings of a colonial skirt. Maybe after the show, you can re-purpose it and design a costume!
    Hip Hip Hooray!
PS: Hugs to Twinks! What a sweet girl.

  13. I think I need to start saying some “Hip Hip Hooray” for myself, I can see that it would feel good to give yourself a pat on the back every once in a while…lol

  14. Ok well my dog thinks I am crazy as I talk to myself — or shout yeah !! when a piece finally comes together after auditioning a bunch of stuff for it !
Love all the glitter — was glittering and glass glittering some homemade and poured bunnies from reproduction chocolate molds – so I was stuck together also –had to wait for them to dry to ship off a swap .
Have a great day — the tablecloths are wonderful — kathy – ga

  18. I just LOVE that zone! You sure made tracks in yours!
Well, Hip Hip Hooray to one of my first stops each and every day! Yes, we should cheer each other on more — and I’m delighted to add my voice to the others! Cheers!

  19. There is nothing like finishing a project you are proud of and wanting to shout ‘hip hip hooray’! I tried giving tag making a try yesterday with my glitter/glue/torn papers…but didn’t end up with a ‘hip hip hooray’ effect. I think I will dig out my buttons to and see if I can create something better. I love your site and will be checking it out daily! Thank you for the comment on my blog, it makes my day to get a comment!

  20. Congrats Karla on reaching 500 posts.
Here’s a BIG – ‘Hip hip hooray for Karla’
Personally, I don’t think there is anything weird about spending many hours in the studio being creative and ‘hip hip hooraying’. If there is, then I too am one of the weirdo’s. [giggle]
    Hugs,
    Kerryanne
