If I only had a brain!

Pumpkin_patch_034 My little Sugarwings is such a Kansas girl! She made a perfect teeny Dorothy.

We had some of the nicest weather this year, seems like it usually rains or is chilly on Halloween. Sbella_001

I hope the weather holds for next week in Omaha for SILVER BELLA!!!

I have my swaps done and ready to go.Sbella_002

I took my 12 glittering ATCs and packaged them up with some wallpaper and added the recipient’s names in glitter to vintage wallpaper tags embellished with millinery flowers.

I have 3 extra so I signed up for side swaps that weekend. I am open to ANY trade, so I hope I get some takers.Lee_lee_fairy

(NEXT DAY) EDIT- BETH TOLD ME HOW TO LOAD THE BANNER! I DID IT!!!!

I’ve been working on a new banner tonight, after the baby went to bed. (Yes I got to keep her overnight TWICE this week! and no, I am not getting any closer to being ready for my sale, or the TV shoot!)

Img073_2

I copied and added color with pastels and glitter to the sepia water color I did of my fairy grand baby.Img072_2

Then I cut out a piece of vintage fairy wallpaper.

At first, I thought I’d be techy and do it all digitally, with the scanner, but I had to resort to scissors and glue after my dismal failure.Fairy_banner_004

So I snipped and clipped and glued and glittered and made this.

I will pretend that my cottage is that castle!

Trouble is, now I can’t load it into a new banner.  Geez, what is so hard about it???? I seemed to have it resized correctly. but NO.

If Sugarwings is Dorothy, I must be the Scarecrow. I am brainless when it comes to changing banners, or adding buttons to my blog.

So, I give up for now. Its 1am and the baby will be up in about 6 hours and a grandmother needs plenty of sleep if she expects to keep up with a one year old. As if sleep is enough to keep me going when she is here! It requires heavy duty cafienne, running shoes, and a helper to hold her down when I change her pants.

So I’m off to bed, after announcing October’s winner:

It’s a  fellow Bella!!! Jessi gets the choice of a vintage wallpaper and ephemera Cottage Collage Kit or a hand made item from the kit.

Thanks to all of you who commented and entered. I enjoy hearing from you and will be bribing for more comments in November. Every comment counts as an entry into the drawing.  I will make a custom Christmas ornament for November’s winner.

  1. Hi Karla
The banner is great. Shes such a sweet little fairie-like girl. I draw a pencil-drawing of my little boy and have thought of doing the same, ie copy and paint with watercolors, that would be a good christmasgift. He is very fairy like to, almost white curly hair, very tender and cute. But inside…a little monster, he makes hes 4 years older brother weeping. Have a nice weekend /linnea-maria

  3. What a darling banner!!! Sugarwings makes the PERFECT Dorothy! Lucky you to be able to take care of her so often… you made me chuckle over the caffeine comment!

  4. If I could assist you in uploading your new banner – believe me I would. She is too precious and I think she’s about the cutest Dorothy I have ever seen!!
Sadly, I must sing along with you. “With the thoughts we’d be thinkin’ we could be Abe and Mary Lincoln, if we only had a brain.”
    Love,
    Julie

  5. Karla, your new banner is great!!! I don’t understand the whole technical side of the site either… I would love to put things in the sidebars, but I’ve tried and failed. I’m lucky to have posted a banner photo at all! Someone could make big money if they wrote a book called, “Blogging Design for Dummies”!!!

  6. LOVE the new banner!! It really is the real Karla. I saw the fairy wallpaper on Ebay, was going to bid on it, as I thought of you right away. THEN I saw that you were the high bidder, how funny!

  7. Now I am whining, “I want to go to Silver bella’. Maybe someday! Sugarwings is adorable. Love the red shows. Ever girl needs at least one pair of red shoes and if they glitter, even better.

  8. Love the banner, glad to see you got the bugs worked out and were able to post it. I also love the old banner, so don’t go cutting it up! Leandra looks adroable in her Dorothy outfit!

  9. ooooooooooh she is adorable, I think that is the nicest photo but I am a sucker for little girls dressed up as little girls or as Dorothy! cool banner for a scarecrow:)

  10. Oh, that baby is so stinking cute! Love the shoes the best I think. And your banner is gorgeous! You may notice I have no banner because I can’t figure out how to do it. Maybe one of these days! Have fun at silver bella!

  11. I love your painting of Sugarwings and it’s interesting to see the sepia toned version next to the full color one. And of course I just love her little costume. Judy Garland couldn’t hold a candle to her! 😉
