I’m a Flower Fairy!!!

I'm a Flower Fairy!!

Have you seen this yet??!!  Wowee! I am so excited to be going to it!  Jenn Hayslip has invited us to stay at her Southern Belle's Palace (that is how I picture her home and I am pretty sure that I am correct about that).  Here is the site with details, the event looks like it will be amazing.

There is a button for this on my left side bar.

And did you notice this button on the right hand side bar? Along with the hand painted knobs?

I've decided to add these links to my tutorials, so you have a short cut to them if you ever need the info.  Hopefully, I'll be able to add some more as time goes by.

For now, there is: How to Paint a Chadelier and How to Paint a Nest

This hodge podgey post is meandering around, huh?

Luckily, I heard the whisper of these flowers calling to me this weekend and followed it to this jackpot!  Well, some were a gift from a friend (who knows me VERY well) and some are the ones I had to hunt down.  I KNEW there were flowers waiting for me downtown at a store that I used to find some in all the time.  That shop hadn't had any new (old) hats in months and months, but I felt like I needed to run downtown and check.

Yep, the Hat Whisperer strikes again! I found a gold mine of flowers.

Here is a bit of the detail from one of those murals that kicked my butt yesterday.  I'm glad I kept at it and got them all done, today is chilly and wet.  It was worth the exhaustion to get them finished while the sun was shining.

These two will be the backdrop of my booth at Miss Frenchie'ssale on April 17th.  I am still tired today from the job, and very discouraged at how exhausted these two paintings made me! They measure about 5' x 6' and really weren't that complicated to do.  I don't know why the job did me in so much.

After all your  encouragement in the comments about not being old and that 50 is the new 30, I guess I will stop blaming my age and blame the sun! I am not old, I had heat stroke.  There, that sounds better.

I also went to the beauty shop and got my hair done today. That helped too. My hair has not looked so good for a while and that doesn't do much for the old (oops, I'm not going to use that word) self esteem.  I was telling Beth that my hair was looking like June Allison's. And not in the days when she was a pixie like star in films with Van Johnson, but when she was doing adult diaper commercials.  Not a good look.

Further meandering around, here is something I listed on Etsy today after getting back from having my new do done.  This vintage doll dress in a vintage frame on vintage wallpaper, is decked out with vintage jewels and vintage lace and was made by vintage me.  (sorry, I am still feeling OLD, no matter what I say about heat stroke and exhaustion, and how un-June Allison-like my new hair style is, I am feeling OLD)

Last night, I soaked in the jacuzzi and then crawled into bed to fall asleep while watching Australia.  I was pretty tired, but that movie could have put me to sleep, even if I wasn't. Today, I'd better perk up, because Sugarwings is coming over and I'll need to start chasing her around.

She keeps me young!  It takes some energy to run after that little flitting fairy.

Don't forget, you still have the rest of the month to enter my March Giveaway for this springtime floral necklace!  All comments, all month count.

My friend, Gretchen is having a giveaway too.  I've been lucky enough to get one of her necklaces, and know you would love one too.  Please tell her I said hi, when you go to enter her drawing.

  1. Karla, your murals turned out beautifully and I can see why they were exhausting. I don’t think you’re feeling old, just normal like everyone else! lol! Where are the pics of your new hairdo?

  2. I’m glad you dropped the Depends look. Since we’re, um, around the same age, I’m in complete agreement with the 50 is the new 30 idea. p.s. murals are gorgeous

  3. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your painted chandelier tutorial. I’ve had a 12 light chandy like yours sitting in my garage for um, like uh 4 years. I’ll be visiting the hardware store this weekend to get some bonding primer!

  4. We are so on the same thought pattern…if I could paint. Last year, after a show I did, I thought about having a painted backdrop…your’s is gorgeous!
Jenn’s event sounds so fabulous…too bad it’s even further away for me. Don’t let Sugarwings get too jealous that you’re a Flower Fairy.

  5. What !!! no Karla picture , would love to see your new do . You look great karla , even when you’re covered in paint. i wish i had half your energy . you accomplish more in a day than most would get done in a day. dont be so hard on yourself , you’ve done good girl. (((BIG HUG ))) Donna

  6. I am jealous of your flower find…..
Thanks for the tip on Gretchen’s blog! It is beautiful & I will be going to visit her often!

  7. Karla, The two murals for your booth are also so pretty. I hope you are going to keep them after the sale.
I’m thinking that maybe you have a little flu bug and that’s why your so tired.
But, nothing like a new harvest of vintage flowers and a new hair style to help perk one up.
    Hugs karen

  8. Karla, You’re not old or have heat stroke! You just have been inside too long this winter. It’s always like this when we get out and start doing things like gardening, etc after the long winter.
I just love your murals and I got a new do last week end, too. What morale booster!!
I’ve finally got the wallpapering done and got the roses planted (I didn’t do any of the digging) so it feels great to get things done even if we get tired.
Seeing Sugarwings will help you forget how tired you feel!

PS I’m the 28th what day are you? How are the puppies doing we haven’t had an update recently.

  9. Oh man I need a napkin … I’m still drooling over those gorgeous flowers! What a thrill to hit a jackpot like that after hearing that inner whisper to go and seek.

  10. your murals are both beautiful!
I missed your post on painting a chandalier, I’m going back to read it closely, thank you for putting it on a side bar! You have been busy, make sure to take a break, you have wore me out just reading your post lol

  11. I’m a flower fairy too! See ya in May. It’s a road trip for me since I’m close by.
LOVE the murals–I so understand the slowing down–we just have those days and one of them is today for me.
    TGIF!

  12. My Grandma used to paint and I wish I would have inherited that but I didn’t. I can’t wait to see it in person!!! We’ve been cleaning out Bethany’s closet so sugarwings is going to have a bunch of clothes for your house! We need a craft day soon so you can see our new car. 🙂

  13. Oh my gosh Karla! those murals are beautiful and huge! And you did them in the heat. 80 degrees in spring feels much hotter than 80 in the summer. Your body isn’t used to the heat yet! No wonder you’re tired!

  14. Karla, you have so much energy you make ME feel old! Wish I could accomplish half as much as you do. Maybe if I stopped sitting around reading in the back yard because the weather’s been so pretty….

  15. Oh, My!
The murals are wonderful—like strolling past a lovely group of shops that beckon you in.
I hope you’re over your TIRED now—it’s been such a glorious Sunday here, with strolls through the lovely maybe of a garden which promises abundant beauty for a month-from-now, and a ride through the park, and all that wonderful sunshine out there, after the dim drab of Winter.
Your site is so refreshing and uplifting—I’ve bookmarked you for much enjoyment to come.
rachel (whose own bright energetic Fairygirl will be here tomorrow)

  16. The murals are just lovely, like strolling past a row of shops which beckon you in.
Your site is so beautiful and uplifting, I’ve bookmarked you for enjoyment to come.

  17. Hey Karla I haven’t talked to you in a while, so thought I’d comment your post.
You are really being productive with all you have going on for Ms. Frenchies. Very cool background murals you’ve done. Were these on canvas, so that they will hold up and you can use them over and over again?
Thanks for the link on this post, I’ve had a couple of ladies that found my blog from yours, so really do appreciate your sweetness in including my giveaway.
I had a little neice over on Saturday for about five hours and her Mom was with her, but nonetheless it was wearing. I just don’t think in our late 40’s and older was it meant to be chasing around little kids unless we are famous movie stars with nannies to do it for us. It’s just a lot of work, so you have to give yourself credit for keeping up with Sugarwings and all of that little ones energies. They are amazing energizer bunnies.
Have a great day and take care of yourself. I hope you’re feeeling better soon.
Hugs of wellness being sent your way-
    Gretchen

  18. Your canvas backdrop is stunning! I am sure you’ll have the best looking booth at the show! Good luck!
