Glittered peat pot baskets

Eggpots 004

I've been in an Easter egg kind of mood.  This little paper mache one is painted metallic with glitter, inside and out, then decked out in its Sunday best with lots of millinery blooms.

Because, seriously, can you have too many flowers? Even on a tiny egg, I like to pile them on.

This one has a stand made of an old tart tin.

And this has a peat pot nesting spot.

I thought that properly foofed up peat pots would make sweet Easter baskets.

Some I filled.

This one has a nest with a felted chick.

And some I left empty to fill with treats.

They aren't necessarily for Easter only, they could be sweet May Day baskets, too, don't you think?

But when they are all together in a group with the eggs, they sure do make it look like the Bunny is on his way!

  1. I’ve got a bunch of peat pots that I’ve been staring at too. Love the idea of mini May baskets. I’ll have to play copy cat and make a few up to send to our Texans since I’ve got Easter under control.
    I LOVE your vintage inspiration!!

  2. Peat pots are such fun to transform. I went a little wild with them this week and used up a whole sleeve, just playing. After telling myself I was only making class kits… Instead I ended up with Easter or May baskets.

  3. Love your foofed up peat pots. Boy — you hooked me on those a couple of years ago. Haven’t done them in awhile but this is inspiring me. Although Rick saw my pack of peat pots in the studio (how he zeroed in on those when you have so much stuff it’s hard to pick out anything unless you know where it is, I’ll never know.) He has been trying to claim them for his garden. Imagine that. Using them to plant seeds in! Maybe for Easter I’ll get him some of his own!

  4. Karla, thank you for these sweet photos. I’m having a really bad day and this brought me some joy. They are precious. Can I pick a fav? Wouldn’t it have to be the felted chick! Hugs… Charlotte
