Remember how I waited till the last minute to clean my studio and turn it into a dining room for company? Well, something else came up and it still isn’t done.
But it was a very good excuse for not cleaning, Madison (named for Madison, Nebraska- hometown of the Nathans) was born tonight! We spent most of the afternoon and evening at the hospital waiting for our niece to give birth.
The whole family was there waiting for her arrival. We played cards, laughed, made bets on who’s family would have the first baby, ours or the other people waiting that we made friends with. (We won!!) We had baby races with Sugarwings and another baby there with her family.
Finally, Madison came, and we all went back to see her. Sugarwings is enthralled by her new cousin.
So, do you think I’d clean the studio when I got home??? Nope, I fixed up a spice rack that I got today at a garage sale for $1 (including all the bottles) so I could use it to hold all the glitter that I bought today at the same sale (a bagful of glitters, sequins, buttons, and bows for $2).
I used a lot of the goodies I got in the mathcbox swap from Debra at http://www.hophopjingleboo.blogspot.com/ including the doll baby at the top (appropriate for today!). Whenever I glitter something up, I will think of Madison and the day she was born.
Hey, organizing the glitter was a very important part of cleaning up the studio!! How can you have guests over if your glitter is in plastic bottles and laying around helter skelter???
Well, maybe I should try cleaning up a bit now. No more excuses.
PS- All of the vintage paper packs I had listed on Etsy have sold, but I will be making up more soon.
ppss- Thanks for all the feedback on the loading speed of my blog. I’m glad to hear it is faster. If anyone is still having trouble, would you please let me know
pppsss- I really will have a give-away this month. I am counting all comments made in July and will let you know what the drawing is for as soon as I figure it out! (open to suggestions!)
KARLA if anything ever should be submitted to SOMERSET LIFE it is that spice rack!!!!!!!!! I’m just blown away by that and how creative you got with it! Deadline is September.
Congrats on the new baby too!
Oh how cute! Congratulations with the new addition to your family…
And boy can I relate! I’m starting school in september and I really need to clean the study and organize everything. I know it’s still a long time till then but everytime I start I end up crafting and make even more chaos then there was to begin with!
Love the spice rack!
WOO HOOO! my Maddysen is excited that there is another Madison in the world…”because spelling doesn’t count in the way you say it!” CONGRATS!!!
Congratulations, Madison is beautiful. Love your spice rack. Hey glitter is always important 😉

Love, love, love the spice rack and pretty bottles! I need to find something like this for my Prima flower bottles.
So glad the loading time is shorter! I like to visit you, but don’t always have time to wait.

Karla, I’ve been offline for the last few days. I’m so glad to get caught up with your posts.
Congratulations on the new Great niece! I love that picture of sugarwings looking at her with such great interest. It’s just too sweet.
I’m so glad you’re messy like the rest of us. I know what you mean about company and cleaning.

Hi Karla, beautiful baby and beautiful ‘sparkle’ rack! Rachaelx
Madison is sweet!!If ever there was a reason to not get something done. I love babies though I’m also glad I don’t anymore. That’s what being a grandma is about right? I’m patiently awaiting the arrival of my Twinkle at the end of the month (plane tickets boutht!) though momma tells me it may be sooner. By the way the rack is great but it’s nice to see the pics of the room. It makes mine okay too.
Madison is a little doll, so sweet.
Karla, the re-done spice rake is fantastic. What a lovely way to store your glitter and sparkles. I love it, and you
should submit it.

what an awesome redo of a spice rack…not gonna pass one by again….LOL
Well, aren’t you just amazing! That spice rack is wonderful. And after spending the day waiting for a precious little bundle to arrive. I’d have come home and plopped on the couch. LOL! I like your idea much better. I really need to hang out here more often. Might just motivate me to get off my rumpus and quit making excuses and just create stuff already.
Thanks for the inspiration and congrats on the new niece.
