Name that Puppy

Puppy contest 002

Ready to Name the Puppy? We have six little Dorkie Princesses, and 5 of them need to be named.  One is already called "Little Star" (as in Twinkle Twinkle).  I'm asking your help in picking names for the rest.

Keep in mind, their Mommy is named Twinkle, their auntie is Sparkle and their owner is Sugarwings. That might be a little hint about what kind of names we like around here. Well, actual that I like. My husband doesn't really care for standing on the porch and calling "here Twinkle, here Sparkle!"

For inspiration, here are some close ups of the little fuzz balls.

And the contest rules:

1-ON THIS POST leave a comment with a name choice.

2-You can enter more than once, but please enter separate names in separate comments, and only on THIS post.

3-I will pick 5 names that I like for prizes.  If there are duplicates, I will write the names of the commenters onto slips of paper and have Sugarwings draw the winner.

4-A very pretty hat will be used to hold the slips of paper!

5-The prizes are glass, heart shaped, millifiori charms.

Puppy contest 033

Deadline?  Hmmm, how about one week from today?

 That is Thursday, February 5th.

Puppy contest 036  There has been a lot of interest in helping me with names, so please, if you have mentioned one previously, add it to THIS post!! You have given me some good ones already, so I'd like for you to have a chance to win a prize for helping out.

Puppy contest 043

Prizes are fun for me. I have to tell you, I get so much back from my readers, that I just feel like I want to do something in return. So I try to always have some gifts for you, such as my regular monthly drawing and other little giveaways here and there.

There will be a prize for Valentine's Day, also, since that is my TWO YEAR blogaversery. Has it only been two years??  And what did I do with all my time before I discover the blog world?

My 500th post is coming up soon, as well as my 15,000th comment.  Oops, scratch that, I just looked to see how close it was and I passed it!! Thanks everyone for all your kind comments, I do love to hear from you, even though I don't always answer, or I do answer and the email gets bounced back to me.  There are a few of you out there who have never gotten the email answers I send and you still keep commenting, even though you must think I am rude. Thanks for coming back anyway!

I'm also close to 500,000 views. My gosh, what a surprise.  Who ever thought, 2 years ago when I started this ramble, that any one at all would even look at it.  Thanks so much to those of you who come to visit and keep me company here.  Working as an artist can be a solitary adventure, it is nice to know that company is always just a click away when I need a break.

Puppy contest 003

Tell you what, I will go back and see who was # 15,000 and send her one of these pretty little hearts too.

Be right back…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

I'm back, and the winner is:

Diane

Here is her comment:

Diane, please contact me with your address. And thanks so much to all of you who comment. I always like to hear from you.

Puppies! 198

Here is a reminder of the prize for January.  There will be some more Valentine themed gifts coming for the 500th post and the anniversary too.

I have some gifts that I was sent as part of the Puppy Love swap to show you too. Swappers are generous souls and not only are they sending me pretties, but Sugarwings has some to open too!

Puppy contest 047

My fairy grand baby is head over heels, crazy about the puppies herself. She has adopted them as her "babies" and likes to give them rides in her carriage. Which is better than squeezing them with joy, this is a nice compromise that the puppies appreciate.

Thanks again to everyone who has left such nice comments and to all of you who come by to visit. Also to those of you who take the time to join in my swaps and make them so much fun.  Now, start thinking up puppy names!

  1. The puppies are adorable, and that picture of Sugarwings pushing them in the baby carrier is precious! I’ll bet she’s in love with them all, and who wouldn’t be!
Thank you for your blog and sharing your talent and life with us. You brighten up my day when I see a new post! You inspire and motivate me to get up and do something creative! Happy two year blog anniversary!

  2. Kathy in Chicago

How about Panache! “Panache` is a French word for which there is no English equivalent, but carries the connotation of a flamboyant manner and reckless courage.”
I didn’t actually know what a meant but this sounds fitting for a Dorkie princess! – Kathy in Chicago

  3. OK how about naming another Twinkle 2, name one Little and one Star. Then you can go outside and yell Twinkle, Twinkle, Little, Star! LOL
Well I still like Little Lu Lu but that doesn’t sound like it goes with the others.
I like Star,Sugar Plum, Shimmer, Glitz and Flash.
Can’t wait to see what you pick. No matter what they are named they will still be the sweetest little puppies I’ve seen in a long long time.

  4. I’d love to call one mine but since that’s not possible, how about “Penny”? For some reason, I keep thinking about an old adage that refers to “shiny as a copper penny…”.

  5. As I had mentioned the other day,
    Tinkerbella
    “Bella” for short! 🙂
They are all just SOOOOOO cute. I wish I was close by to come and hug them all!

  6. Oh, I know little Sugarwings is head over heels in love with these puppies! She is so cute with them!!!
    I like the name “Crystal”.
Can’t wait to hear their names!!!

  7. Hi Karla.
    They are sooo cute!
I don’t know if Canadians are eligible and it’s ok if we’re not.
I have a few names that I am going to enter regardless.
I would like to suggest the name of the Greek Goddess of Growth: Maia
    Thanks.
    Lois

  8. Well I was going to suggest Luna, but that has already been suggested, how about Ireland, London, Brooklyn and Madison all places I have been or want to go! Notice a couple of names could be for a girl or boy. Good Luck!

  9. I want to name one ‘mine’…get it? LOL!!!
are they all sold yet Karla? I haven’t found any here yet…wth is up with that? I’m getting bummed out, I NEED a Dorkie puppie! 🙁

  10. KISSY!
(When our next door neighbor’s daughter was a toddler, she named their new puppy “Kissy”! It’s so funny when I look out my kitchen window now at night and hear the dad calling out “Kissy! Kissy!”)
    =)

  11. fairy girl (or traditional spelling faery girl) My granddaughter loves this name. *smile* My granddaughter named her doxie, towser (as in bowser towser).

  12. Solstice
    Joy
    Gemma (a star)
    Maia (a star)
    Lyra (a constellation)
    Felicity
    Pearl
    Stella or Stella Luna
    Velveteen
    Valentine
    Tiara

  13. How about Jackie or Bailey?
Seeing the picture of Sugarwings pushing the stroller reminded me of when my Sister and I were little. We had a pet rabbit named Thumper. We would dress it up and take it for a stroll to the bakery on the corner. We would leave the stroller parked outside with the rabbit in it. People would peek in there thinking it was a doll. It was so funny to see their expressions.

  14. I hope the puppies got to go out side today but not blown away. It is nice but windy.
I think “Sweet Cheeks” might be a good name.

  15. milli – fiori = fiori
Karla, Just a play on words, since these charms are the gift, I thought it fitting (in two seperate post) to use each part of the name as a name for the puppies.

  16. Seriously, the last pic is so cute.
Okay, I don’t really have real names for you to consider. Just don’t let my son near the names. Examples: twins = Ralph & Gralph, White Toast & Dark Toast. He named his Webkin dogs Cracker (because he likes crackers) & Sleepy (well, because he’s sleepy) Just wanted to share the laughs
    Nerissa

  17. My daughter has a pony her name was Kelly when we got her, that was to plain so she is Kelly Sparkle. Well, she had a baby we call her “Glitter” Its so funny to hear my father yelling “Glitter.” So I suggest Glitter.

  18. violet, star-saphire, emerald (emmy), saphron (just was listening to mellow yellow..lol), pumpkin, and garnet (initially thought ruby..but saw that someone else had that..too! great minds!) ….(had to do all six…for that whole rainbow thing…i did have that “star” saphire thing worked in there…though
    hugz

  19. I would like to offer up the name “Fang” or possibly “Rover” or “Killer” or even “Bud”. That would make calling them from the porch just a bit more manly…..
Your loving husband, missing you already.

  20. To continue, what’s more picturesque than a Yorkie pup?
Answer: 6 Yorkie pups wheeled about by Miss Sugarwings! Now that’s a picture and a half!

  21. Yay…typepad is backup!!! how about Ruby(the one with Beth’s red ribbon). I better go back and read the directions before I continue with names. Hapy happie.

  22. (I’m glad I went back through and read the names…your hubby’s -way tooo funny, I guess you could extend some of his choices like Rose BUD or KILLER Wallpaper). It’s also nice to hear your voice -even if you are talking baby talk.
    another name…Vintage

  23. I almost forgot to send the one I thought of the other day…SparklePlenty….isn’t that the fancy girl from the Dick Tracy comic? And I am not submitting GlitterBuns, as I didn’t think of it, but I am VOTING for it!
