I have been on such a roll with the bargains this week, that I can’t quit looking for them. And they seem to LEAP out at me.
I heard the call of the hats yesterday, and asked a friend if she wanted to take a spur of the moment, quick trip with me to go and buy hats.
We only had a couple hours, knowing it was late in the day and the stores would close, but we went anyway, and I was glad I did.
This loot was $1 a single flower and $7 for the loaded hat!
And even though, I have plenty of buttons after last weekend’s garage sale, how could I pass this up?
The ironstone bowl is worth at least $15, let alone filled with buttons!
Not only that, but SORTED and cleaned buttons.
The bowl has already come in handy, on my desk filled with these trims that I bought too.
There are some really nice pieces in here, lots of old beading and delicate laces. These were only $1 a zip lock bagful.
Those trims were the first thing I played with after I got home, I couldn’t wait to do something with them!
These tussie mussies are made of vintage flocked wallpaper, lined with old, French paper, then encrusted with some of the fancy trims, jewels, and flowers that I bought yesterday.
These are gifts. I won’t say who for yet, but the hint for the new owners is in the themes I used to make them:
birds*fairies*pretty flowers
This trim was my favorite, so dainty and old. There was quite a bit of it, too.
I was glad to discover when I cut into it to use it on the tussie mussie, that all the beads stayed in place and didn’t run every where. I had been worried about using it, but it was wonderful to snip and glue down.
And yes, I bought more vintage jewelry. Just when I think I have cleaned out all the old jewelry bargains in the state, I find even bigger and better deals.
Can you believe that a lot of this was in the ten cent box?
Some of it was a dime, some of it was sold in bags full for $3 – $4 a bag.
Yes, I bought all the bags! I’m not even showing all the jewels I got, because I am starting to overwhelm myself with all this bounty.
These were 50 cents each.
I’ve not used beaded trim pieces much in the past, but I will have fun making use of these black ones at Halloween, won’t they be great on witch hats?
This is an example of how much was in one $1 zip lock bag. I can see some Silver Bella projects in the future of that silver velvet string!
There was a big bundle of towels and doilies for $5.50, which at first I thought I didn’t need. But then, I remembered that I had planned on buying dish towels at Target later this week.
So, why would I pay $3 a towel for plain ones at Target, when I can get a big bundle of beauties for $5, with extras thrown in at an antique store??
These gals were $1 each, and soon will be covered in flowers, beaded trims, and sporting fairy wings.
Now, if I can just stop shopping long enough to stay home and make some stuff with all of this!!
By the way, thanks so much for all your purchases from me this week. I appreciate it! (Plus it makes more space for me to go shopping again myself!)
I want to volunteer my house as a storage facility for your finds. I am only trying to help, if you send some to me you will have more room to shop for more….seriously.;>p
Woweeeee! What luck!! I love the bowl, the buttons, the trims, and teh sparkly, sparkly jewels! 🙂
Lady Luck loves you!!!!

WOW, once again you hit the jackpot! you need to buy lotto tickets while you are out shopping! Can’t wait to see what else you create with your haul, love the little tussie musseys!
Ooooooh! That one postcard of the woman reading the book really haunts me! I originaly made a brooch out of it that is kind of Christmasy, but I think it’s much better for Halloween. Reading the spooky book by candlelight…what’s that? That sound? SO scary!
Glad you enjoyed yourself!

hey there karla. I havn’t been here in a while but I have been mad with trying to find a wedding location. I can’t find what i want. let me just get to the point…..have you ever thought of hosting a wedding?
The type of wedding I want is “country eclectic” . I’ve been looking for pretty much exactly what you have. … The location, your party ideas and decor.
Just a thought. Or possibly you may know of another location?? HELP! This whole thing is way more stressful than anticipated.
I love your latest haul, I can’t believe some of the wonderful beaded trims. Ok, so what store did you go to???? Gwen
You might need to enlarge your house again for all your cool loot!
Carol
Geez Louise, gal! Will it never end? (I hope not, LOL)

Wow Karla! You certainly can spot a bargain! Just love everything that you found. However my heart skipped a beat when I saw those adorable little dolls!!! Can you keep me in mind when you pretty them up? Yikes, I don’t think I could resist them! Suzanne:)
I was pretty sure you must live in an alternate universe – but I guess I believe you when you say Kansas 😉
If I am having a great year I find these sorts of things once or twice a year – but only in expensive antique stores.
I can’t believe all the wonderful treasures you find!!! Please take me with you!! You find the best stuff!!
You need an intervention! How funny!
Ok, I’ve had it, Texas STINKS for shopping. I’m moving back to Iowa. If my husband will come along. By the way when I got to the bottom of your post I got CHILLS. The doll with Shamrocks, does she have red hair, and a Shamrock made of felt on top of her head? If so, make her a special fairy, because she is mine!!!! I know I had one of those years ago, but the only one who could help me remember is my Mom and she is gone. Let me know when she is up for sale, I’m getting her. Thanks
Again What a haul of good “loot”. You just have fantastic luck in finding great buys, plus evidently it gets your creative juices flowing. The tussy mussies are adorable.
I received my blue buttons today and I love them. They are in a perfect little candy dish and look wonderful. The great sounding recipe was a little bonus wrapped around the buttons and tied with the cutest little bow. Thank you so much for letting me have a little piece of your bargains.
Have a great evening,
Jean in Virginia
Hey, I got my package! Love the tag and bag of buttons! And the cute way you packaged them! I wish I could stop being on the computer long enough to make stuff myself. But I bet that won’t happen, and I’ll just end up buying it instead!
xoxo, Brenda

OK, I think this has to be the best haul ever!!! At first the trims were my favorite, then the jewelry…oh, and then the dollys but now I have say it’s all good. And those prices!? I’m with Gwen–where did you shop? I do realize there’s probably nothing left;) ~just curious~
The mid west is definitely the place for bargains. Wish I was there. I couldn’t even get those kind of prices at the thrift store, much less an antique store.
~elaine~
Oh my Karla!
What beautiful finds! I am so jealous! Okay. get to work girlie…lots and lots of beautiful creations! Can I just come over and stare at all that beauty? It would take a plane trip with probably a stop or two and extra charges for suitcases and water and using the bathroom but it looks like its worth it!

Great finds…………….Have a funtasic weekend…..Mary
I love it when the designers have the detail of the cameo faces facing each other when paired for earrings. Your fave trim puts me in mind of the tudor clothing and that white trim with the soft tan leaves and pale blue flower should look great with the flocked w-paper. HAppy happies and have a great weekend.
oh my gosh! You are finding the best stuff! I want to go shopping with you !!!
You Go Girl! You Are the Queen of Finds! I am Very jealous. I dream of sales like that, but then I wake up – empty handed. Couldn’t be happier for you. Hope you find more this weekend! Twyla
