Proud to be a Mid Westerner!

Sbella_booth_230Today is a packing and pricing day, the last table top of Silver Bella goodies are going into their boxes!Sbella_booth_229 Although, all the tags are falling off the stupid bottle brush trees, how irritating is that? I went with sticky tags on the bottoms, not string tags, because I didn’t want the strings to tangle. Now, I have a pile of loose tags at the bottom of the box.

Sbella_booth_228 I’ll have to keep that in mind as I tag the rest of the crap, er, I mean lovely inventory.

I HATE pricing. It is one of the chores that seemed to never end back when I used to host mini flea markets in my yard and chicken coop.  Sbella_booth_219 For this event, I am doing as many signs as possible, instead of individual tags.  I packaged things, like wallpaper journals and millinery flowers with the idea of saving tagging time.  I did the same with hand painted charms, tags, vintage greeting cards, and china shard pendants too.

Sbella_booth_222_2

Too bad that idea won’t work for the old Christmas ribbon, some spools are nearly full, others aren’t, so the prices can’t be uniform.  Sbella_booth_226

And for small things like this, it is easier to do tags, than to take up space with a sign.Sbella_booth_220

And the decorated bottles are all so different, it just doesn’t work well with them either, they will need to be tagged.Sbella_booth_225

I’ll place a small sign on this basket that says "Embossed and Stamped Tags 3 for $1"

I also have a big picnic basket FULL of odds and ends for $1 each. Doilies, trims, cake decorating tid bits, just a hodge podge of goodies. I’ll set it on the floor  because my tables are overflowing.

10′ x 10′ sounds like plenty of space, but I could have used twice that amount. Of course, I also could have been a little smarter and not planned to bring so many cheapo priced things….. and made better use of the space I have…

But- this booth really does represent what I have to sell in my Etsy shop or on my blog and that is what I wanted to accomplish.  There will be bargains and surprises and good deals all piled together to dig through. I hope that the booth is enjoyed as much as I have enjoyed putting it together!!  And if most shoppers are like me, they will appreciate some good deals and have fun digging through it all.Img_7758_2

Dont forget that if you want to win something from my booth, I am having TWO giveaways!

A pair of crown earrings goes to a Bella, and another pair, along with black and white rose linens and a white glittered pumpkin will go to another reader.  All you do is leave a comment to enter.Img_7687

Speaking of Silver Bella vendor night, guess who is going to be there selling after all? Deb of Curious Sofa! Now, that will be a beautiful space to shop in!!!!!!Sbella_booth_171

I am going to be glowing with pride to be part of the Kansas City contingent up in Omaha.  With my friend, Gwen, who shops only in France for her wares, Carol the Queen of primitive glamor, and Deb with her unique Curious Sofa style all there and all from KC, those three will be showing off the best that the Midwest has to offer!

Makes me wish I’d gone for a better display instead of just piles of stuff… these three ladies will have the kind of spaces that make you stand at the entance and just say WOW.

Aren’t those bottle brush trees a pain in the behind to price? I use to wholesale those in all sizes and finally gave up and had hang tags made for them!!! GRRRRR

  3. *sigh*

  5. Karla,
Your mock ups of your booth are stuning and make me want to have just a few minutes of time to “play” in it!!! This is one of those times I’m wishing Mexico was a lot closer to the middle states!!

  6. Karla, your display will be just as fabulous as everyone elses. There are so many ladies that would rather get a “Bunch” of things for their money than one Big thing. You will do fantastic and you must take lots of photos of your tables at silver Bella so that we can all grieve that we are not there with you. Oh, by the way I love the color of your hand in the last post. The color is downright regal.
    You have a wonderful evening.

  7. SSSssshhhhhhh! Stop telling Everybody! It’s my prize remember??? 🙂
    karen…..
I wish I could shop in your booth, it looks like wonderful goodies! Will you load your etsy with the leftovers? You’re taking your millinery? Maybe if I click my red tennies together and close my eyes tight I can end up in Kansas and hitch a ride with you!
    hee! hee!

  8. Karla,
Let me help you out, honey! You just pack up all those cute little bottlebrush trees in that lovely hatbox and ship them to me in Southern California….there you go, problem solved! (lol) Can’t wait to see you in two weeks and believe me, I’ll be stimulating the economy with my shopping trip in your booth! XOXO

  9. What a lot of lovely things, but I sure would hate to have to put price tags on everything. Grouping them together by price is a very good idea. The thing I dislike about having a garage sale is pricing everything. Well, that’s just one thing I dislike. Actually I dislike almost everything about it. Maybe that’s why I haven’t had one in so long and have no plans for the future.
Hope this endeavor is very successful for you.

  10. When my orders come in at the store I’m pricing like mad. It gets to you. I also love to put like items in bowls or baskets and make a cute sign. Done!
Where is this Silver Bella, how do you shop there and how do you get in it?
Your things are really sweet Karla, sell loads.
    Hugs,
    Pam

  12. I’m sure it’s all going to just be fabulous… I’m getting sadder by the minute that I wont be able to be there after all.

  13. Hi Karla,
I so wish I was going to Silver Bella, I want to buy everything you have, lol. I am thinking maybe I can make it happen next year : ) Everything is so beautiful!

  14. Theirs might be WOW (and I’m pretty sure yours will be too) but yours will be welcoming and COMFORTABLE! A vendor who welcomes diggers can’t go wrong! Have fun! Your Friend, Bobbi

  15. Oh, I just can’t wait to meet you…my midwest friend. We live too close to one another not to know each other. I am a Kansas City girl. Can’t wait until Silverbella. This is my 3rd year attending. See you soon. Kara

  16. I’d love to come over and help you put price tags on everything. Many hands make light work! And then I’d be so close to Silver Bella that I might as well go…dreaming here.

    Hi Karla-
Best of luck at Silver Bella— I know you’ll do well, as your items are awesome. Wish I could go and buy a bunch. I would grab up some 3 for $1 embossed tags for the holidays in a heartbeat. Very cool!
Do you happen to have any of those garden metal tags for plant markers? You could make some signs and stick them into a box of items with prices on them.
From my experience with tickets, if you don’t want a residue leftover you almost need to go with removable (they tend to fall off in the cold temp. changes as well as with time), the permanent can leave a residue and damage an item, but may be best in the future for the bottom of bottles, tree bottoms, etc. that could be taken off easily enough once the new owner gets them home. Live and learn I guess. I’ve learned alot about tickets in the 10 years I was carting my wares around.
You might want to have a little cheat sheet typed up with some of your categories that you have 1 price tag for to use as refernece. You’ve mentioned having help, and that would be a great tool for helpers as well as yourself when you’re getting bombarded with sales and trying to add everything up.

  18. karla-

  20. This just makes me wish I was going to Silver Bella even more. You are right, I follow Deb through her blog and everything in her store always grabs my eye. I see a lot of things in your stash that would have to go home with me though, if I were there. Good luck with it all and have fun.

  21. Your booth is going to be fantastic! I am having a little Silver Bella envy after seeing all you gals are up to. It is sure to be a blast! Have a great time despite the difficult price tags.

  22. Hi Karla.
I just know your booth will be a great success. Everything looks great. I wish I could be there to poke around but I am up in the cold country of Canada. Too far. What a brilliant idea for the brushes. I would never have thought to do that. You are so talented!!
    Thanks for sharing.

  23. hi Karla-
    Nice to meet you online!
Your pal Beth was the nicest person at the show-she was so encouraging. It was my first Crafty Chicks show and the first time to show my work so she was a great help.
I really love your blog also-you look like you’re extremely busy aren’t you?
    Lots of gorgeous stuff!
I’m sure we’ll keep in touch-
    Tammy
