I’m still seeing red! This time, it is tie dye and wild, hippy reds!!
We went to the Wakarusa music festival yesterday, not camping out for 4 days like most festival goers, we just bought a one day pass and took our fairy grand baby out for some good music, sunshine, hula hooping, and dancing. Oh, and FOOD!
I discovered that snow cones are her favorite food on the planet and that she can determinedly try scooping them it with the long plastic straw/spoon, long after the ice has melted away into a puddle of syrup.
Sugarwings traveled in style, in her canopied red wagon, complete with fairy wings on the back.
Sugarwing’s Hippy Chick mommy was one of my favorite things to watch at the fair, she was so graceful and pretty while doing her hula hoop dance.
Can anyone give me an idea on how to load a short video of Sugarwings dancing at the concert?
In the meantime, here is a link to the video on Flickr- its very short if you’d like to watch it.

I’m not a huge concert fan, myself. I typically listen to National Public Radio instead of music, but this festival was more "event" than concert for me and I had a great time.
The lead singer of the Flaming Lips arrived in a giant hamster ball and crowd surfed while bubbles and confetti were shot out from the rainbow colored stage. And for some reason, giant Tele Tubbies danced away on the stage to every song. During one song, naked women from the audience joined in and danced with the Tele Tubbies. Now that isn’t something you see everyday!
Another thing you don’t see very often is me out garage sailing and forgetting to take my purse!
I didn’t realize until I got all the way across town this morning, that I didn’t have it with me. I guess I was beat from the late night at the Wakarusa fest and wasn’t thinking clearly.
So, I dug into my ashtray where I keep my emergency frozen custard money, and challenged myself to a morning of garage sailing on $8.75.
Not only did I do fine with a limited budget, I came home with change!
Not enough to stop for frozen custard, though.
I bought:
*3 hand made lawn baby gowns
* a delicate embroidered baby’s pillow case
* sweet little pink booties
* a small, old bottle with a glass stopper
* a tiny wooden doll to fix up for Bethany’s art show
* and this cute little child’s toy hutch to fix up for Sugarwings.
I promised that my June giveaway would be garage sale finds that I get this month. So, here is the first of the batch, one of the lovely, old baby gowns I picked up today.
Check back to see what gets added as the month goes by!
And leave a comment, on any post all month to enter, as often as you’d wish.
One more red, and some thank yous- Sarah, thanks for the "Seeing Red" week, it was a fun challenge.
Thanks to Rhondi for belatedly adding me to her porch party. I had been left off the links and thought I must smell bad or something, because I seem to be getting left off of party links lately!! She was kind enough to add me in to the party today. Even though, everyone was showing beautiful porch pics and all I had was a burr covered dog in a gazebo.
And thanks to everyone who inquired about my Friday Flea Market items in the last post, and to those of you who bought some pretties!
The table cloth and some hand made vintage wallpaper books are still available.
Here is what the covers look like, I was feeling Flocky when I made them!
Wow! I can’t believe you did so well with the custard money! Amazing! Great stuff too, I can never get enough of those little nighties!
I must add hula hoop w/ a tye die shirt on my list of things to do before I’m dead. I think I’ll pass on the hamster ball although I like the Flaming Lips. Loved Sugarwings mode of transportation. Fancy!! And good shopping… As I’d expect! Have a happy Sunday.
How cute Sugarwings must have been in her canopied “wheels”!! I can’t believe you got all those goodies for just pennies!! Lucky you. The little baby gowns are adorable!
Big Hugs,

Looks like that concert was fun. Now I just have to ask……….were you one of the naked females? LOL
You sure got some wonderful finds at your garage sale.
I went out to garage sales today myself and I only had $3.53 in my wallet. I had to put some stuff on hold and run to the bank to get more money. What was I thinking!
Hugs to you
Joanne
P.S. I can’t wait to see how darling that toy chest is going to be after you get your magic touch to it.
It seems like you guys had a terrific day at the Wakarusa fest. Sorry I cannot help you with the video, because a) I’ve never done it b) I’m using a mac c) I’m using blogspot. So it wouldn’t really make a difference if a tried, but why not ask Natasha Burns, she publishes these cute videos starring Leroy once in a while. Hope you succeed and have a nice Sunday!
I want to comment -but I’m realizing I’m a little toooo tired to have any kind of conversation! Waiting for my hubby’s clothes to dry and then off to bed. Happy Happies to you and yours.
Looks like a fun day! I can’t wait til my new grandbaby is old enough to enjoy an outing like you and Sugarwings had!
looks like you all had a wonderful time Karla, you got some fab bargains at the garage sale too xxx
I never know what I’ll find when I come to your blog (hula hoops, naked women!) I love how you challenged yourself on your yard sale budget and can’t wait to see what you do with the hutch.
Karla, you always surprised, pretty fest, and what a lot thing you bought with little budget!
Frozen custard sounds like it would hit the spot in this heat wave we are having, but I think you did even better with your purchases.
Naked ladies, huh!! I’m not much of a concert person either, but that would have been a show stopper.
I know Sugarwings is going to love that hutch. I can’t wait to see what you do with it.
both look like better than great days! what fun, fun, fun!
I actually wanted to stop by with my thanks for hosting the Birds & Bonnets Swap with Beth. It was a really wonderful event to participate in … thank you, thank you, thank you!

Such great finds for you–I see you have been busy as I catch up with your posts.
I am posting about another Sweet Treats recipe from our cookbk last winter on Mon June 9–hope you can stop in, it is Sandy’s delicious Georgia Peach pound cake-Tara
karla, that video of her is hilarious. she’s really trying to do the moves, isn’t she? if you want to post that video on your blog, you can do so by using the video you have on flickr. from the flickr link, at the top left of the video it says >embed. adjust the pixel size (if you want) and then copy and paste the html in the box below into the “html” portion of your typepad posting section. i hope this helps!
love the sale finds!! was wondering if you have any more of the “wedding dress” cutouts/paper dresses that I purchased a while back? seems it’s wedding season here in Indiana & used MINE on the front of a wedding card for a very dear friend… I wanted it to be special & unique. thanks.
