Some Tree House fix ups on the Fairy Berry Trail

IMG_0301

Somehow, Spring has slipped away again, and we are back to wet and chilly weather.  But that didn't stop the fairies from sneaking in to Sugarwing's new club house out on the Fairy Berry Trail and adding some new decor.

Actually, it was me filling the branches with bright, sparkly things from Hobby's Lobby's 40% off sale, but Sugarwings is sure that the fairies came to visit and did all the work.

She was mesmerized!

The Fairy Club House is just  the area under the over hang of two old Hedge trees.  We piled up sticks and logs from around the area to make "walls" on two sides. The third side is formed from the hanging branches and grapevines. I can't wait to see it become a canopy of green this summer!

The fourth side is this opening between the trees.   The area inside is cozy and just the right size for a fairy sprite to hide out in.  So, for about $40 worth of doodads, and a couple hours of cleaning up and stacking wood, and a little bit of paint, our little fairy grand baby has her own tree house in the forest behind the cottage.

I hope to find fun things to add for her at garage sales all summer. It could use some cute furniture and toys.   For now, she only has a bench, a chair a bucket and shovel. She likes to dig and seems pretty happy just that and using her imagination. That is what makes it all such fun for us, she has such a happy attitude  and loves everything about of it.

As I was painting this face, it started to rain on me, so I stopped and it isn't exactly what I had in mind. I might work on it some more later, but Sugarwings likes it as it is. (the gold color is metallic paint)

  5. What a wonderful grandma you are!! I LOVE the face in the tree. And Sugarwing’s expression looking at it is priceless!!
That chair in the picture..painted sorta bronze and white..did you paint it? Is it plastic or iron? I have a green plastic one that looks like that and I’d like to paint it close to that one..could you give me instructions, please?

  6. what a magical place you created for your fairy grandbaby Karla…when Sugarwings grows out of that coat, i want you to send it to me…LOL…i love that cute thing!!!

  7. How wonderful for Sugarwings, I remember that we had an area like this on our school grounds and every recess we would sweep and clean our house and where we kept our horses. Those memories are still so vivid in my mind even though it has been over 55 years. So these days spent in the forest will linger with her for a lifetime. So wonderful! Unfortunately we didn’t have the “sparkles” that you’ve added so her memories will be even grander. You’re such a thoughtful, loving grandmother. I look forward to seeing more pictures as the weather and the earth warm.

  8. I want to come to play with Sugarwings. How sweet her little play forrest is. You have done a wonderful job. What a great grandma for doing all that for your little sweetheart.

  12. Karla, When I was a kid we had a “tree house”…an old willow that had branches that touched all the way to the ground. It had so many rooms in it we called it our Adams Family house…truth be told it wasn’t all that big or grand, but in our imagination, it lives on as a mansion. I saw it years later and it had somehow shrunk…I know it happens with grown up eyes.
I can only imagine the wonderful memories that Sugarwings is storing away. The smile in the final picture speaks volumes….Hooray for you! You are building such magical memories…You are my hero 🙂
