Tea Party Time

Teaparty 015
Sugarwings and I decided to throw a tea party.  Laurie had given her some tiny cookie cutters and we wanted an excuse to bake!

I kept her home from PreK to bake treats, make sandwich roll ups, dips, and veggie trays then set the table pretty with me.  We had a great time planning and preparing.

She also learns about counting from gathering the cups and saucers, as well as how to set the table.  So I didn't feel too bad about her skipping school, we had lots of learning opportunities throughout the day.

She was so excited about the party, she changed her dress 4 times.

We'd invited about 20 people, but not all could make it.  And some forgot to come, but I don't think my fairy girl even noticed, since she was face first into the sugar bowl most of the meal.

It was a special day for me with her, soon she'll be a kindergartner and I won't have the option to pull a skip day with her any more.  But…. Dewdrop was sure into the tea party herself. I have a feeling that my party days are just beginning!

  1. How lucky was the girl to be invited to such a charming party! No wonder SugarWings changed her dress so many times with all the excitement! She had to look just right. And the plates on the table… I love that pattern. Do you mind sharing?

  2. I’m still trying to figure out how ANYONE could forget to come to a magical Karla/Sugarwings tea party!!! Are you not the most special grandmother? Sugarwings and Dewdrop are going to grow up with the most wonderful memories of times with you!

  3. Those are garage sale plates, I picked up a whole stack the other day for ten bucks. I was low on tea cups, and there were a lot of cups with it. Then on mothers day, one of our many messes was cleaning up all the shards of the teacups when they got knocked over and broke! So the tea cups on the table are a series of mismatches.

  4. Oh my gosh, how beautiful is that table? And those plates with the soft blue — swoon. I can close my eyes and imagine myself right there!

  5. What a wonderful memory for Sugarwings! She will have such great times, remembering this, in the future. You are the greatest of g’ma’s!

  6. Karla,
I totally believe in a skip day every now and then and you are right, you have another little party girl waiting in the wings to have her special days alone with you while Sugarwings is at school. Enjoy!

  7. ALWAYS have skip days. She’ll learn more during those days, than she will in a whole week of school!

  8. Oh, what a beautiful tea party!!! Your girls are so lucky to have you – and how wonderful for you to have those sweet little granddaughters! Sometimes a day off from school creates really precious memories along with a different kind of learning – a day such as this special day!

  9. Gorgeous table setting!!! Love the room, is it the dinning room?
How anyone can “Forget” to go to a party of any kind is beyond me!!!
I am glad you guys had fun. You are a terrific mom for doing such lovely things.
