Sneak Peek at the Pumpkin Surprise

Cerry_dress_048 This air clay and sculpy is just the best!  So far, so good, on figuring out what needs to be baked and what doesn’t. At least, I think I got it right….

I’ve only had time to paint a couple of the pieces and glitter them up.

Cerry_dress_035 Instead, I have been hanging with Sugarwings, she had a couple of sleepovers in a row.

And I finally managed to convince her to put  on the vintage dress from Auntie Beth for a short lived tea party.  A couple of minutes into the tea party, she got up to read a book to one of her fairies ( a gift from Sugar Bear Karla), then yelled-

"Pree dress OFF- I paint!!!!"

So, we spent the majority of the last couple of days making play dough snakes and painting.  Instead of saying ‘art studio’ she says ‘our studio’.Cerry_dress_055

While she painted, I decked out this witch that I had made from sculpy (it had to be baked, and I baked it in the oven with the vintage marble "crystal ball", and the glass didn’t explode.)Cerry_dress_054

She is wearing a hat made from old black velvet topped with a flower from my stash and a dove that I painted black and glittered to be a crow.Cerry_dress_052

Her eyes are green crystals, but I think black would stand out more. I might pry the glued in crystals out and change them for a darker color. She looks kind of eerie with the light eyes.Cerry_dress_050

There are a few air clay punkins that got painted too, but they are not done yet, just paint and glitter so far.  They have big plans for their future.  After the next issue of Romantic Country is on the stands, I’ll show you what to do with the pumpkins!  But it is a surprise until then.

And what happens to the pumpkins will also be involved with the fall giveaway from Carol and I, so remember to leave a comment if you want to enter that! (as well as my Sweet September Giveaway)

The three tags are for my sisters and niece who will be here in a couple hours!  They are driving in from Indiana where we are all from, and they still live. We will be going to the Kansas City Renascence Festival together on Saturday, and also doing some grape picking at a B&B and being treated to a gourmet luncheon there after a photo shoot that I am helping with on Sunday.  So, I might not have time to post in the next few days, or answer comments. But please, do leave me some, I will love reading them when I catch up! And each one is an entry into the TWO giveaways.

Cerry_dress_059 Since the fairy grand baby has been here for a couple of days and we have done nothing but paint and play dough, I haven’t had time to get ready for guests. Today is hectic! Groceries, cooking, arranging flowers, burning muffins.  Yep, I made a double batch of Pumpkinbutter muffins and burnt them so bad the house was full of smoke.

Looks like pop tarts for breakfast tomorrow.

And the tags were all I had time to make, since I’ve had my helper here for a few days.  We went to TJMAxx and bougght a couple of their fairy dolls to give as gifts since nothing got created.

Well, I’d better get moving with the rest of my preperations, I think I hear the baby monitor now, which means my little window of computer time has come to an end.

  13. I like the witch and the pumpkins, cannot wait to see what you are going to do with them next. I like that Sugarwings is determined to be creative too, lots and lots of people make the wrong priorities, like cleaning first, or think..now that I’m wearing my best dress and have just put make up on it’s better to go out in stead of staying at home. No not for Sugarwings and she is right!
Have fun with your nieces and sisters!

  14. Sugarwings is adorable as ever & I just love ‘our studio’ oh my gosh that is so cute.
Amazing witch! I like her just the way she is. 😉

  15. You got your moment with the dress! If you haven’t redone the eyes…you might try a sapphire color -with the purple dress that might be better with the black hat? Joy joy to you and your visiting family.

  16. I like her green eyes…kind of goes with the whole “I’m Melllttiinnggg!” memory. I love the bird you sculpted! Couldn’t figure why it was on the bottle in the earlier post, although it looked like you’d thought of a cool idea…but it was DRYING, duh! I can actually mold roses from that stuff, now that you have reminded me, (thanks again!) I may use them to decorate a pitcher and washbasin I basecoated and wondered, “Now what?”. You really do awaken great ideas! Have loads of fun with your family…I picture you all stomping grapes with your skirts hiked up, just like Lucy!!!

  17. The witch is REALLY cute! I love Sugarwings and her budding artistic ability! She’s after her Grandma’s heart (oh, that’s right, she already had it!) Have fun with your sisters – they will love their tags! You’re a good sister to visit!!

  18. I LOVE the witch you made! She is perfect right down to her green skin! Playing with clay is addictive! Sugarwings looks adorable in her vintage dress! Have fun at the Ren Fest. Also, have fun at the B&B, is it the one near Overbrook?

  19. The witch needs to get on her broom…if you made her one yet…and fly to my house. I just love her. I hope I get to meet the “Mother” of the witch at Silverbella. You made my day with this post. Delicious! Kara

  20. The purple witch is the best! Very Elphaba with that wonderful green face! And lovelies for your sisters, too. Boy, what a happy feeling it must be when Sugarwings wants to get that dress off and do art! I’m not sure which of you is the luckiest!

  21. Oh, wait a minute, have to wipe the drool off of the keyboard……that witch is just a hoot..and the pumpkins…..well sign me up please. The tags are wonderful too……as far as the muffins go……hmmm, cinammon toast is a treat…or maybe just run to bakery at the grocery store…..as long as you are together, that’s what counts………

  22. First thing my grandson does when he runs thru my door is head for his craft drawer. Oh the things we make. Being a grandma is my favorite thing.

  23. Karla,
I think you channeled my sixth grade teacher in that little witch of yours, seriously, she looks just like her only not green!
I so love hearing about your little fairy baby and all her cute sayings. She is about the same age as my little grandson. They are such a joy and a delight are they not?
Enjoy your guests and have a great weekend!

  24. Karla,

  26. Oh…such beautiful art…(as always!) work has been keeping me away from it…sugarwings is growing by leaps and bounds…my husband keeps pushing down on the kidlets heads so to try to keep them small..for a bit longer…don’t work…
    hugz

  27. Oh my gosh…when do you have time to breath?
    LOL!
I am glad you had time to spend with Sugarwings. I bet that is the best part of any day! As for the witched eyes, eerie is good! I hope you have/had a good time with your company.
