Time to preen your feathers and Bling that Birdhouse!

sk!Birdhouse_200 Birdhouse_297 What do you LOVE about your Birdie’s home??

Welcome to our Self Linking, Self Swapping, Self Marketing party! Yes, Beth and I are lazy hostesses, she says this is the equivalent of inviting people over and asking them to bring all their own food and drinks, then clean up after themselves.

Birdhouse_295 The rules are simple:  you can buy, sale, or trade, if you like, just let people know in your posts, or on the flickr site if you want to moving the real estate.

I will be giving one house away today to someone who leaves a comment.

The rest are FOR SALE!

And for a special price too, any of these cuties, big or small, simple or ornate, blingy or elegant (who am I kidding, these are all blingy and gaudy!!)—if purchased this week from this post— are only $15 each plus postage.Birdhouse_212

Ok, so those are my personal specs for sales.  Make sure you state yours if you want to sell or swap a home during the party.  I am also up for a swap…… I could use a special bird house for some fairies to move into up in Sugarwing’s bedroom. Birdhouse_213

The birdhouse with the kitty is sold to Louisa

Now, for the party linking rules.  Like I said, we are pretty laid back about this one!

All you do is leave a comment, on my blog, Beth’s blog or BOTH.

In your comment, tell people that you are inviting them over to see your creations.Birdhouse_201

Make sure you leave the URL or link to your blog, or you can show the birdhouse on our flickr site if you don’t have a blog.

Everyone is invited to play along!  Flickr is free and easy to do, so jump in and give it a try.

Birdhouse_203 Simple huh?  Leave a comment, join the party!

Birdhouse_204

Now, if you want to party hop and visit all the homes on display for our feathered friends, all you need to do is read the comments on my blog and Beth’s blog.

Birdhouse_216 Not everyone who reads my blog leaves a comment and if you haven’t because you don’t know how, here is what you do:

At the end of the post, the small print says the time it was written, a list of categories, and then "comments".  Click on that word.

Then, you get to read all the previous comments.  Usually, you can click on the author’s name and it will take you to their blog. Sometimes, you can’t.

If there isn’t an active link, then you can copy and paste the URL that the birdhouse blinger has left for us to find them and see what they have made. Birdhouse_232

Any questions, feel free to ask. Email me or Beth and we’ll do what we can to help you get to visit everyone or to help you invite people to visit you.Birdhouse_300 Fairy Banner house sold to Betty

Fairy houses count too, right?  I’m sure that if a bird wanted to share the rent, they’d be allowed to move in.Birdhouse_303

The postage might be a bit higher on these fairy homes I have made.  A couple of them are covered in stones, glass, beads, and trinkets, which tends to weigh more than the vintage wallpaper I put on most of the houses.Birdhouse_304

All the fairy homes come complete with a nest ready for the fairy to curl up on.Birdhouse_231

As you can probably tell, I got a bit carried away, like usual.  I tend to make more than one or two when I try something…. I might have a done a couple dozen houses or so.Birdhouse_280

I could just keep going and going, these are such fun to decorate!  I hate to have this challenge come to an end.

Birdhouse_286 But I am sure I will feel exactly the same about the next project I take on.  Don’t you just love to experiment? In the last year of blogging, I have had opportunities to participate in so many fun swaps and challenges and each one I did, the nests, matchboxes, tiaras, doll hats, all of them, I just wanted to make more, more, more!

Blogworld is such an inspiring place to be. Always a new project or idea to sample.Birdhouse_187

So, Beth and I decided to sponsor another swap. Details to come, but it will be through Vintage Workshop and we have permission to feature their images and offer free samples to our swappers to use!

We’ll let you know when we get it all worked out and are ready for sign ups.

Birdhouse_217 Please check back later if you are interested in our Spring Swap.

And for today, thanks so much for coming to Our Bling Your Birdhouse Day and please go and visit some of the other bird abodes that our friends came up with!

  3. Wow- your birdhouses make an impressive display when you group them all together. I think my favorite is the fairy birdhouse with the black & white drawings along the bottom- very clever-like a house that tells a story.

  9. You must have had such fun making these! I especially like the one with the vintage rose postcard on the roof’s slope. I’m very new to all of this, but I’m looking forward to the next challenge so I can really get creative. I hope everyone will stop by my blog and introduce themselves. I’m myvintagevignettes.

  13. Wow! All these birdhouses are amazing. My daughter and I each created one (I think hers is cuter!). Would love to have you visit at http://www.pinkpersimmon.typepad.com.
We are a new papercrafting company that will open our online store sometime in late April. If you are interested in joining our newsletter and would like to enter our grand opening drawing (for some clear acrylic stamp sets), please note that in your comment! These will be newly designed stamps by my sister, Judi and they are full of vintage cuteness!

  14. I am showing a vintage Hundred Acre Woods birdhouse that I painted years ago. It is owned by my grand-daughter, but might be an inspiration for someone to “get their paints out.” Stop by, leave a comment, it will count for my March give-away:-)

  15. Hello Karla,

  16. Well, Karla – You’ve done it again! What fun. You ought to publish your blog as a book – or maybe a SERIES of books!! Now, off to visit the rest of the real estate.

    Thanks!
    ~Lolly

  21. This is so much fun! I love the birdhouses, the little fairy birdhouse village is enchanting.
I have worked all morning getting my birdhouse painted (eek paint takes forever to dry). Then I took and loaded the picture leaving weary Hubby an evening off tonight. I am painting and (com)putering.
Karla, you are so inspiring. Now I get to relax and view the other entries.

  22. Inspiring birdhomes! I can’t join in the swapping fun right now, but I could enter in the giveaway and consider (if I win) the birdhouse to be a wonderful housewarming gift when we move. (wink, wink)

  23. Oh my goodness, I almost forgot what today was!!! Birdhouse Bling Day! Here is the link to my birdhouses: http://connie-livingbeautifully.blogspot.com/2008/03/my-shabby-birdhouses-revisited.html
I love making them! They are absolutely my most favorite thing to make. Unfortunately, I don’t sell many of them but they make wonderful “eye candy” sitting around my home. I love them for all the beautiful fabrics I can put on them. I almost always use a rose fabric with stripes or polka dots or maybe tiny remnants of chenille or something soft. I also like the “icing” I put on them to make them look like a cake. Just come on over and visit. You might find something you like. Plus if anyone is interested in buying one some are for sale.

  24. So stunning, Karla! I am totally kicking myself for not having joined this swap! But I am having TONS OF FUN browsing around everyone’s blogs looking at all the loveliness!!!

  25. OK Karla… I’ve GOT to buy a birdhouse! Are there any left? I like the first two on your post, and the fairy one (in that order, if one of those are still available). =)

  26. Karla,
Thanks so much for hosting this fun event; a great start to welcome spring!
I intended to make a blue and brown church birdhouse for a swap but got carried away learning some computer programs. So it never got completed; maybe next time. I submitted the birdhouse I made for my Etsy shop instead. You can see it here or on Flickr. In the meantime I am going to have a cup of tea and check out the realestate.

  30. Tami left a comment today that had a mistyped address that went to type AD instead of type pad and I deleted it because when I clicked on it, I got stuck there battling pop ups and I didn’t want that to happen to others too.
I hate to think that anyone missed her birdhouse, it is one of the prettiest ever!

  31. Thanks to you and Beth for hosting this–it was such fun. I work part-time at an arts and crafts store and we have this wood birdhouse that looks like one of those small old trailer homes people pulled behind their cars–the ones with the rounded lines. Anyway, I kept walking past it today and asking myself, “Now how could I bling that thing?” Obviously, all of this is quite addictive. Thanks again.

  32. Hi Karla, everyone of your houses are unique and so whimsical. I LOVE them, great job, thanks for hosting this, and you too Beth, thanks for sharing!
