Transforming a snow globe

Last summer, I found a boxful of ugly snow globes at an estate sale.  I had big plans to remake them, but ended up setting them out for sale at A Snowbird's Song.

Apparently, no one wanted them… So I decided I needed to reclaim them for my original purpose. Some are easier to open than others, this one was pretty easy to get apart.

The snowman was exchanged for a little pink angel, and I made an arch from wired tinsel and millinery blooms and placed it over the vintage tree behind her. Then, poured on tons and tons and generous glops of glue.

The glue was camouflaged with mica flakes.

The wooden base got a coat of distressed white paint, some crepe paper and sparkly bits.

I am kinda glad no one else bought this $1 item, and I look forward to redoing the others that were not purchased.

  1. I didn’t even see these or I would have most certainly purchased a couple. I love what you made with this one. Are you going to sell any finished?

  2. There were quite a few, and quite ugly, but only a dollar or two, good supplies! Somebody bought the older ones. I might have some for sale later, the glue takes forever to dry, since it is under glass. This one wouldn’t be safe to mail yet.
