Two Tasha Tudor Tags

6a00d8341c090953ef00e553f9f021883_2 Isn’t Tasha Tudor an amazing woman?  Her work is so sweet and simple, but her lines say so much. She certainly had a way with a brush and a pencil!

In Tasha’s honor, I did a couple of quick little drawings in her style.

I’m not trying to be a copy cat, just doing an homage to sweet characters in my favorite book of hers.

I’ve made the drawings into tags, and decked them out in my own style.Pre_bella_swap_014

The book  that I love so much is "1 is One" and a blogger friend mailed it to Sugarwings last year on her 1st birthday.

I keep it stored out of her grabby, little, rippy hands for now.  I only take it down to read it to the fairy grandbaby when I can hold onto it, so it stays in one piece.

Two year olds and cherished books don’t mix well.

This is the back of my tags, they are covered in pink flocked wallpaper.Pre_bella_swap_013

I didn’t copy the pictures exactly, just used elements of the pages to make my own picture.

One tag is a gift for a friend’s daughter. The other one is for sale.

I’ll be out of town, so won’t have a chance to list it on Etsy tomorrow. If you are interested in my little tag painting, it is $18.

Please leave a comment or email me if you want to buy it.Pre_bella_swap_015

While I was making the two Tasha Tudor tags today to treat…..OK, sorry, that was going a bit far with the alliteration.

Anyway, I made more tags from the same materials. These have a Silver glaze on the front, and lots of silver accents, and are pink flocked on the back.

I’ll add some silver glitter later on. It wouldn’t be Silver Bella without Glitter! But I’m out of time tonight.Pre_bella_swap_016

These hand painted cupcakes on a silver background will each be tied to a Silver Bella Pre Swap package.

Notice that my friend, Carol has a chocolate cupcake? She isn’t a pink girl like most of the swappers.

Silver Bella has been a great way to meet new friends. Carol and I got to know each other there last year and this year, we did a magazine article together.

Jen Hayslip is another Bella, that I have gotten to know. She is having her home photographed for Romantic Country and I will be writing the article about it for Fifi.  I’m excited, this will be a fun one to do!  Gee, I am lucky to have this article lined up, along with all of the others I have coming out.  I certainly don’t take them for granted.  And I seem to be on a roll lately!

  11. Your art is wonderful. I’m a Tasha fan, and have many of her books, and enjoy gardening. I’m not much of an artist though. I did want to pass along the news of a public memorial for Tasha that the Tudors are holding. I found this article while searching for any information of a public memorial:
The public is welcome to join friends and family of distinguished Vermont illustrator Tasha Tudor to celebrate her life.
Fans are invited to say farewell at the public memorial service on Friday, Sept. 12, beginning at 6:45 p.m. at the Adams Family Farm in Wilmington.
The Adams family was close to the well-known illustrator for many years, so organizers say it was a natural fit to have the general public share their favorite Tasha memories at the family’s farm.
“There wasn’t a good way for them (Tasha’s fans) to grief and remember and celebrate her life,” said Natalie Wise, officer manager with the Tasha Tudor and Family Inc. “The family would like to welcome everyone to come and celebrate Tasha’s life.”
Participants will take a short walk to the pond where a brief ceremony will commence, with floating candles available for guests to release on the pond in the twilight. Wise said the floating candles are symbolic of one of Tudor’s most beloved books, “Becky’s Birthday,” in which there is a floating cake and candles on the pond around sunset.
“Tasha Tudor fans have posted over 2,000 messages of condolence on the Memorial Web site, but now they’ll have a chance to say farewell at a ceremony held outside in nature, as Tasha would have preferred,” said her grandson Winslow Tudor in a press statement.
This will be the first public event since her death on June 18. While there is no charge to attend the ceremony, residents will have to reserve a spot ahead of time by calling 802-257-4444.

  12. Here I am in my PJ’s at 2:34 in the AM, and I’ve fallen in love. Lol! In love with your website! It is beautiful… your creations are beautiful. Your cottage here feels like a gathering place for kindred spirits.
I, too, love Tasha Tudor. I discovered her years ago one Christmas Eve. She’ll certainly be missed, but never forgotten. I hope she’s found happiness with her 1800’s sea captain once again.
Again, this is a fantastic website you’ve got here. I’ll certainly be back to visit again. Every single day if I can.
    Kristin
