Well my vacation is ending. Today I am driving back to Kansas and back to work. I eased the transition between being with all my fairy friends in Asheville by stopping to see my sisses in Indiana.

And the best part there? Craft day! We made Halloween creatures, witches, goblins, and spiders.

Here is Sissy’s hat and spider along with my spider.

Her witchy hat is made of sparkly felt over which she sewed vintage beaded chiffon trim she found on our junking day.

Our spiders are from the same box of vintage goodness her piece of trim came out of. Mother of pearl and rhinestone buttons with wires twisted thru the shank on the back. We then Slid jet beads (from her same box of treats) onto the wires and bent the ends. The heads are a flat bead with two old rhinestones added.

Well, time to hit the road. If I can find some good antique malls along the way home I’ll post from there too.

  1. i just got surprised! I think I am the first to see it. Love that spider, Karla. I think you have been away teaching which is wonderful. I hope you continue to teach more and more, as long as it is happy and renewing to you. You know that I will be at your workshops as soon as I can.
We just got back from a trip of a lifetime in Southern France, riding in a barge and eating and drinking lots of wine and cheese. We were totally spoiled. Jud is doing relatively well and we are holding our breath for the next Pet Scan. Though we know there is no cure, we are hoping that this chemo will keep things at bay. It is a hard lesson to learn how to live a day at a time!!!
Must go check the other things you have done. I feel like I have been gone for a million years!
    Hugs,
    Suz

  2. I love your spiders. I had started working on some with beads and wire…I like yours so much better. I think I’ll experiment with buttons also. Thank you for sharing!
