Zipping around

Ornies 09 029

This guy has been zipping around our house all afternoon, racing from one wall into another, never giving up and never slowing down. That's kind of how I've felt this week getting ready for Christmas!  Not only did I have the regular, shopping, wrapping, baking, etc, we had the added pleasures of unpacking a 14 foot U-Haul trailer.

My husband gave up his apartment in Virginia, he will still office there, but will hopefully be home more, and only have hotel rooms a few days a month out that way.  So, we had to make space for all the things he brought back home.  Just as I was enjoying my pretty holiday decorations and thinking how peaceful and nice it all looked, he brought in boxes and bags and 2 extra TVs and extra mattresses and who all knows what.

So much for tranquil and pretty!

He works for a golf course company, and every year I paint a Christmas card for him to send out.  In between unloading boxes, and wrapping gifts, I whipped up this little snowman and elf for him to use this season.

While I had my paints out, I painted this long sleeve tee shirt for Pixie Pie.  I hope to paint a matching one for her cousin and buddy, Sugarwings.

The cartoon of the two of them together tickled me so much, I repainted it onto an ornament to mail to their great grandma.

Then, I painted on of Sugarwings alone for her special ball for 2009.

This is the one that I made for myself. I have a fondness for little pink putz houses and wanted one that felt like those.

For my brother Randy and his husband, Kevin, I painted their 3 dogs playing in the snow.

Max got a tree frog.

Addie's is a princess kitten.

It was nice to sit down and paint for a couple of hours while I watched the Survivor finale. There hasn't been a lot of sitting around lately!  Today I shipped packages to family far away, and tonight, Sugarwings and I are making candy.  Tomorrow is a big party, a craft day with friends, so after candy making, I need to clean the studio.

I'd better be racing off and get busy!

  1. Your ornaments are beautiful Karla! And the Christmas card too. I’m almost moved into my new home for Christmas and I’m saving the “Grumpy Fairy” to read to my Grandaughter after all the relatives are gone and we can be quiet and read. She loves reading! Have a happy holiday! Pearl

  2. I want to come and live in your putz house. 🙂 If Bethany sees that zhu zhu pet tomorrow she will not want to leave it alone!!!! Off to make our goodies, hope everyone will be hungry this preggo lady has been cooking! 🙂

  4. I love the ornaments, Karla! I especially love the one with the house on it. I still have an iris ornament that you gave me one year. Ok, who is Pixie Pie? I know I’m out of the loop but do you have two granddaughters now?

  5. oh my word, your ornaments are just divine! Your lucky family! :o)
Just been catching up, and I LOVE your Christmas decorations, so much so, that I’m already making note to self to get a silver tinsel tree. It looks gorgeous. I have a pink tinsel tree in the bedroom, but it’s one of those spiral ones that packs flat. It’s fine and I really like it, but you simply can’t put anything on it. Lights have to be tied in place and it’s so hard to get them spaced out nicely. I think a silver tinsel one might be a good alternative!
Enjoy what’s left of the build up to Christmas. xx

  6. Oh! it will be so nice to have hubby home more often!

  13. I really adore your drawing and paintings. These ornaments and t-shirt are beautiful!
I don’t know if you remeber that I’m a card maker. I would love it if you would consider making some of you whimsical drawings into digital stamps and maybe offer them in shoppe or etsy store. There are several compaines/individuals out there that do that and none of the images are as whimsical and pretty! I cannont draw but I adore painting fun images and stamps!
    Blessings,

  16. That paper with rainbow sparkle bursts in the background of the first picture is so fun! It looks like sheet music if fairies, especially with the little riding sprite in front. ;->
Eep, that was an unexpected move-in. Hope it settles down quickly so you again feel fanciful and free in your own home.
Those tee shirts and bulbs are darling for the cousins! You well captured their impish energy. So is the ornament going to Joan? Good luck with the rest of the holiday events, and hope they are fun for you, too!

  17. Karla you have such a wonderful talent and it sure shows in the ornaments, shirts, etc. that you show above. My favorite was the little house ornament as I too have a passion for the little putz houses. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and look forward to reading your blog in the coming year. It is always a very happy place to spend some time.
